Sadiq Umar reminds me of a certain YAKINI [Hausa guys]. As the Psamist says " ...when i was being fashioned in my mother`s womb..." Dutch league is good for his development..Watching him,his moves, his runs, his dribbles...it looks as if i am watching a SLALOM skier

Our future is the bag..Post-Putin`s Russia will be interesting for Nigerian football

His name is Phillip Anyanwu Billing. Hmmmm..... #justsaying #MonitoringEveryTraceofNaijaBloodonPlanetEarth grin

I remember when Osaze came to West Bromwich he had not even trained with the team, went on to that game and was literally the MOTM.

Good players make teams better they don't need to adjust, they adjust the team to become better.
a team with a good playing pattern can improve more than a good quality player can bring to the team. The coach needs to work on a good playing pattern for our team; and who do you think he deserves a call up to the team...obafemi martins, sone aluko?

The players who helped us to qualify should go to the tournament;the likes of j.obi, Bryan idowu and Ebuehi are prerequisite inorder to have a balanced squad. so we don't need any more invites (except an A-list player though) thus to avoid an uneasy situation in the final selection of Rohr's 23man squad to russia.

Joebie:
Siasia played Iwobi at the middle.. football is fluid and not rigid, which is why I can usually watch a game and say a certain player would be able to operate in another role.
Iwobi has been seen performing well at the middle during game time than any other position on the field, which was why I asked you the question, have you seen Iwobi make a clever cut, a taken a wonderful cross, or dribbled his way through the flanks while on national duty? answer capital NO. Hence, he is not suited for the wings.. But have u seen him perform creatively from the middle (sprayed passes) and even scored breathtaking goals from that position? YES. That clearly means he is actually more comfortable operating from the middle.

Let me give you another instance here. Ronaldo whilst playing as a 7 usually operates as a 9, some coaches ended up playing him as a 9 but he never performs as a 9, but when he is playing as a 7 he can operate very well through the middle.

There are other examples like this too but I believe you should get my point, he may be best suited as a winger drifting in unmarked, but when you are the AMF, the DMF is always on you and disrupts your flow, that is my point. Besides why try Iwobi there when we have good players we can invite there? Al Hassan has been clocking up minutes in Austria as an AMF, Aluko plays as a psuedo-AMF and probably if we look closer we will see other people. High time we play our players in their positions
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 1:07pm On Apr 01, 2018
Today's best forwards roam. That keeps them unpredictable.. Football is more fluid than ever my brother.. while some coaches still like to have an orthodox nine, other coaches want versatile forwards.. Ronaldo was usually a 7, but today he can be listed as a center forward or at the wings at game time. It doesn't change anything. Just as he could sneak in to the middle he could also switch to the left wing or right depending on the run of play.. And that's the growth path Onyekuru for example hopes to take. When he masters this art he will be a handful in the nearest future.

Watch all of Iwobi's goals and his best moves in SE colors. Why didn't the opposing DMF stop him? conversely why has he not been effective as a winger. Let me ask you for the third time. When have you seen Iwobi make a clever cross from the flanks or did a crafty cut in or dribble from the flanks? That clearly tells you he is not winger because those a special attributes of today's wingers.. Yes Iwobi makes those nice passes. But anyone can make a pass from anywhere.. But why does Wenger play him as a winger? Wenger has even played him as a CM. Why? I've answered this question many pages back. But let's hear from the horse's mouth:

“He is not a typical winger and I think he can play in the No10 role,” Wenger said.

“He turns the game forward, he passes the ball through the lines very well, he has a final ball in him. I think he has all in the locker to pass and give the final ball.

Iwobi of course lacks the natural pace and acceleration of a winger and his instinct is to come inside, so I can see Arsene’s point. But Ozil is the first choice number 10, so unless he leaves, Iwobi is unlikely to be number one in that role for some time.

What’s good is Iwobi can play in that wide playmaker role. Arsene plays with two wide players, but he seems to always want a winger that can come inside and influence creatively. I think he needs to develop that creativity to become more consistent if he is to become a reliable number 10, but he’s got all the tools to do that as he matures.

Wenger continued: “What you want from him now is the finishing – that’s still a little part that is missing in his game.

“He is too nervous at the moment when he has the possibility to finish.”

Modified
And that quote is from 2016 or so. I can categorically say in SE colors he seems to have done what Wenger wants him to do in ARsenal

Ighalo is the best top 9 we have right now..too be honest I would rather have Ighalo has a forward than nacho because of his hold up play..I'm a nacho fan boy***

We play with skilful inverted forwards, you need a striker that can hold up play and bring them into the game..that's why I think Sodiq can be a back up to Ighalo, we should just let nacho be a SS OR AMF..
Ighalo "was" the best striker we HAD, when he was in watford! he has stagnated, with his profile he is supposed to be at his peak, he has had more than enough opportunities to prove his worth in the SE. It's obvious the coach is not satisfied because hold up play and gra gra will not win you matches goals do! He's our most experienced striker(at the very top level) but we cannot have the luxury to start an inconsistent striker based on past glory.
His best performance was agains Cameroon, we need to see that more often! The match against Poland his positioning was damn poor, people be criticizing our midfielders for lack of creativity, without considering that ighalos positioning/movement matters a lot to create space and ultimately goals, (there is no magic he can't do more than his ability, If you don't find and create space to exploit consistently, you are not a top class player) I don't recall him winning any arieal duels during the friendlies.
Love the guy but we have better.

@ Michael2

” Talking about a 4-4-2 system, Rohr should involve Watford wing attacker Isaac Success playing from the left wing‎, Chelsea Victor Moses from the right wing while Iheanacho should play as the top striker of the team. This would be very potent attack line for the Eagles and would surely deliver against any team”, Siasia said.

” Playing Iwobi as Eagles playmaker alongside Ndidi with Success and Moses ahead of him will bring the best out of him. Alex can create lots of goals with his good vision and passes and he can score goals too. The only thing he is working on for now is his defensive ability which I believe other players in Eagles can help to cover up.

“Like I said Alex will excel as a play maker for the Super Eagles but he can still operate from both sides of the wing attack and forward too”, he added.

you know quite well that we lack strikers , infact the world as a whole lack strikers . a lot of them were been given an opportunity but they ve failed . if we must do well , we must respect the decision of the present coach of the super eagles . dont be suprise to see the line up against Poland as our starting line up in the world cup proper .... the only addition you will see is mikel , and probably some addition to the bench . its too late to start introducing untested strikers with no SPECIAL TALENT or EXCEPTIONAL ACHIEVEMENT the world cup is around the corner , if you think of a better striker , think of the time to blend well into the team .... the IGHALO OF today is better than the Nwakeme you can be clamouring for .

But Obafemi Martins is a special talent.

Ighalo is not a reliable striker when you need goals, some of us praying that he hits form, am sorry cos his form only ends in club, and doesnt come often, he and ideye are always goal shy on GWG.

I will rather have martins than Ighalo in GWG, strikers r not meant to dribble but score goals, this umar has improved very well, he should be looked into, cos to be honest the reason Ighalo has lasted this long in super eagles is cos we dont have a better replacement or even a backup.

Iwobi is simply an inverted winger. Ozil was similar at Bremen before Mou changed his style of play. Iwobi at wide can work without Mikel provided he has someone he can swap places with during the game. This is where someone like Aluko(yes him!) Or even Etebo comes into play.

actually, Ighalo has lasted long in this team because the rest of the forwards are decent goalscorers and so, the need for an effective Top 9 never really seemed dire

How Rejected ‘Black Money Payment’ Led To Oliseh, Fortuna Sittard Battle
Peter Oriaku
By Johnny Edward:

It has emerged from the ongoing case involving Dutch second division club Fortuna Sittard and their suspended coach Sunday Oliseh at the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) tribunal that the Nigerian was offered ‘black money payment’ at the club, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Got something to say? The let your voice be heard! Back Pass *Sport related topics only*
‘Black money payment’ is an illegal payment for a job done in which tax is not paid to the government and it is punishable in the Netherlands.

According to a report on Dutch daily, nos.nl, Fortuna Sittard offered Oliseh, his assistants and players ‘black money payment’ after the game against FC Emmen in January despite the club having the bank accounts of the players and coaches.

The payment was rejected by the former Super Eagles coach.

Fortuna Sittard had on Wednesday expressed satisfaction that they have so far been able to clear the allegation of engaging in illegal activities levelled against the club by Oliseh in a tribunal.

The report on nos.nl also revealed that Oliseh’s claim that criminal activities occurred at the Limburg-based club is currently being investigated by the Fiscal Intelligence and Investigation Service (FIOD).

The report added that Fortuna Sittard’s Football Director, Mustafa Aztopal, has been working in the Netherlands without a work permit.

“For the KNVB, it is not the resignation of the coach but the alleged criminal activities at Fortuna which is the starting point for research,” an investigating officer of the Fiscal Intelligence and Investigation Service (FIOD) was quoted on the website.

“For the time being, we have only spoken with Oliseh and, for the sake of the arbitration case and the integrity of the investigation unit, we have put the further investigation into the arbitration case for the time being.”

Completesportsnigeria.com also gathered that the owner of the club, Isitan Gun, wanted Oliseh out of the club desperately, as he was well aware that Fortuna would have to pay a huge bonus if they gained promotion to the Eredivisie.

“They wanted to to get players to sign documents against him to ensure he is off their books because they were obsessed about his achievements at the club,” a close source to Oliseh told CSN.

“They knew so well that Oliseh was going to get them promoted and that he won’t accept any form of black money payment and this means that paying him and his coaching crew their promotional bonuses through the right channel means the club will pay more.”

Oliseh was suspended by the club in mid-February and he then accused them of illegal practices and violating the law. He is demanding to be paid the remainder of his contract at the club until 2019, a promotional bonus and compensation for damages.

The former Nigerian international joined Fortuna in December 2016 while they were struggling to avoid relegation but he won them a promotion play-off spot this season before his suspension.
