In a world cup year when every naija tom dick and harry dey shine eye to join the train. To make matters worse he was always been in Rohr's good books.. Let's not deceive ourselves. Success, once highly promising have been shooting himself on the foot. You can't blame it all on injuries. He should never have moved to England.

bataderemi:

Right? I hope he gets better.

His performance stagnated months before he left Watford. At least he's managed to score some goals in China.
It's a pity I feel he didn't reach his potential he ought to have although he had a few years at the top level, but he got found out in the EPL

Yes oooo Sir Joebie. He has featured for Denmark U-21s.... But hey, now we are aware of the lad. May be another interesting midfield prospect to exploit.... *shrugs* #Justsaying

Yeah, I do realise he has attitude problems. I am hoping he gets better 'pyschologically', if that's a thing. Of course, that won't happen if he doesn't want it and I wasn't even considering him going for the WC/

I think his social life took his head in England.. He had some impressive cameos in the EPL.. He would have fared even better...

Before Ighalo went to China, he was on a crazy goal drought.. I love his work ethic but i am scared if we are going to depend on him for goals.

1 goal every 4 games is not good enough for a top striker. WC is only 7 games.

With that Granada form he would have made the train to Russia... Yes it's more psychological I think.

Told someone same yesterday.

Those guys would have made us thick.

Imagine Alaba pairing Ndidi in a double pivot system or better still Alaba as a LB or LWB with Mikel, Ndidi as CMF and DMF respectively with Alli playing in front of the duo-that would've been pure beauty.

Oh no! How I wish!

Those 2guys are our greatest loss in the last 2decades.

Why has Martins been so unlucky with Super Eagles coaches.Hardly getting call-ups from Keshi to Oliseh to Siasia to Rohr, am sure if his call-ups were consistent sure he would have broken Yeking's record in the super eagles.Something is definitely wrong either with the system or Martins himself.

I remember Martins was scoring in La liga but when he was invited under Keshi, he did not play well at all that day.. Very disappointing..

Bro! Please go back and rewatch that match u laid reference to..Martins was totally played out of position by Keshi which accounted for his dismal performance and I doubt if it wasn't deliberate since he was only invited after so much outcry by fans of the super eagles.

Does one rally need to be scared? No!

It's not Like we don't have other attackers that can score goals for us. If we really had to depend on one striker for goals this team wouldn't have qualified for the World Cup let alone achieving that with an unbeaten record. We wouldn't have been able to force four goals down the throats of Cameroon and Argentina. The Poland game would have ended in a draw at best. Even the Zambia game would have ended in a draw.

The truth is we have a reasonable amount of goal threats in Moses, Iwobi and Iheanacho added to that of Ighalo. All we need to do is have the GO (general overseer) of the midfield, which is Mikel behind these attackers and we're good to go. Although we still have other goal poachers outside the current team.

I was one of the fans that called for Martins invitation but he was so bad that i did not bother to call for him again.

I hope he can prove himself if he gets called before the WC, however slim that chance is.

Glad you admit you joined in the outcry for his call-up. Keshi wasn't fair to Martins and did everything position to drop is stock with the fans. Nigerian coaches are not after merit but what they stand to benefit at the expense of national glory imagine Ujah and that Kano pillars striker Gambo Mohammed picking shirts ahead of Martins under Keshi. In the last decade no striker of Nigerian descent has been widely travelled and not forgetting his goal scoring boot during sojourn like Martins. He is just unlucky and should be considered. It my personal opinion Ighalo is not better!

Nigeria forward Olanrewaju Kayode scored on his debut for Shakhtar Donetsk in their 3-0 away win against Zorya in their Ukrainian top flight clash on Sunday.

Kayode, who came on in the 91st minute for Facundo Ferreyra, got on the score sheet in the 93rd minute to make it 3-0 for Shakhtar.

And they went 2-0 in the 61st minute thanks to Ferreyra.

bro, iwobi cannot play through the middle for us , he lacks the stamina.
1) he losses ball easily. 2) he doesn't know how to mark. 3) he doesn't cover space.
It is better he plays on the wing and comes into the middle unnotice. Like say a false 9 or 8.
MetalJigsaw:
Honestly, its really annoying to know the fact that Rohr hasn't realized that Iwobi is at his best when played through the middle. Its a factor that made the forward have a disappointing international outing.

Rohr needs to open his eyes to this because we can't afford to have him make such mistake in Russia.

Some of our past selections have been questionable to say the least.

I do not mind Martins if he can perform for Nigeria.

you're right on Alli. But we're just fantasiziing on what would've been.

That Alaba to me is the most Versatile player after John O'shea. Dude can play almost all position. He even plays as an AMF for austria. The only two roles I haven't seen David play are the CF and GK roles... He would have been a great addition.

His pairing with another top tackler like Ndidi will definitely quench any form of attack from open play.

where is that man that say he hopes Kayode scores so that the cycle will complete.

Lo and behold Kayode has scored and the cycle is complete.

*I can see Oga Forgiveness smiling.* first it was Aluko, then Ajagun, followed by Obafemi(WMD) and now Larry Kay.

It is very much welcome. Wing play has always been one of the major strengths of the Super Eagles from previous generations. Give it time... It will return.

that is where Mutiu Adepoju got his name from , the headmaster , he will always score from cross and nodding , even Pappilo enjoyed the dividend of cross and nodding .but it seems to be old skool stlye of play
