“The opportunity to play for Nigeria at the World Cup would, of course, have honoured me. After all, my father played for this country, too.”

“However, it quickly became clear to me that I wanted to prove myself to the DFB. I’m new to the U21 and I really want to assert myself there.”

Is it a sin to have a preference again?
We've gone past this kind of talk.. Is Torunarigha even "mixed" (biracial)?

oloriooko:

Good riddance to bad rubbish angry
People should be jolsting to wear the SE jersey not the SE begging them to play for us!
We have more than enough talents here why beg one mixed blood to play for SE.
Without him we will have a team, with him we may have headaches, so the dude should Gerarrahia!

When is Yahaya gonna break into Porto first team? He's taking too long to take that step. I av even started doubting his abilities, just hope he proves me wrong.

stop na.. that second goal.. biko
Icon79:
Actually, here's how I described that goal on the bbc.com website
Post #1:
That was a great goal, no doubt but enough of the hype. We have definitely seen better goals, especially considering that he hit from insider the box with no challenge. From that range, he couldn't miss. O pari

Post #2:
I would like to see him take the ball from the middle of the pitch and go through 4-5 defenders like Messi and then finish with a goal, instead of always waiting inside the 18 yard box for a cheap tap in. That's what makes him a great player ... anybody can score a cheap tap in. O pari

Yahaya needs to move to another club. Now that he has been converted to a right back, his attacking ability has been stifled..

World Cup List: Rohr could invite some new faces, says Agali
By Ayo Olu Ibidapo - April 3, 2018 709 0

Former Super Eagles’ star Victor Agali is of the view that Coach Gernot Rohr could spring a few surprises ahead of naming his 35-man provisional World Cup list, admitting the Franco-German is keen to give equal opportunity to every player in other to select the best hands for the country.

The former OGC Nice attacker, who spoke to AOIFootball.com, said Nigerians should believe in Rohr because, after Bonfrere Jo and Clemence Westerhof, the Franco-German is the next best thing in terms of foreign coach to have happened to the country.

“I believe we all must be patient with Rohr because after the likes of Westerhof and Bonfrere Jo, I believe Gernot is another blessing to Nigerian football. He tries his best to carry everybody along, and gives players equal opportunity to be selected and listens to all is scouting and technical team.

“I know Gernot Rohr is fair to all and is committed to developing the image of our football. He will decide on that. I can’t comment on if he will stick with the ones he has tested and know or not, but may be one or two new faces, just maybe. I strongly believe we should scout more and know more of about opponents,” Agali concluded.

Oh please! Gimme a break!! He's having impact against small and/or overrated teams. Don't worry, the el classico would happen in a few weeks time, let's see what the impact he's gonna have against Barcelona. And I would be interested to see his impact against the likes of Barca, Bayern, ManCity or even Liverpool in UEFA Cup semis.

CR7 is the worst football opportunist I have ever seen in my life. He would be angling around the 18 yard box while waiting for the others to do all the work for him, so he can score and take the credit. Ask yourself, how many goals would CR7 score if he doesn't have the likes of Toni Kroos, Marcelo, Modric, etc. doing all the work?

SerVik:

Balon d'Or voting, like every other polling contest is largely influenced by the law of recency. Their last performance usually carry more weight than earlier ones. Ronaldo knows this and uses it to his advantage.

He plays pretty much averagely in the first half of the season, conserves his energy and then unleashes it toward the business end of the season.

In 2013, fifa reopened voting for Balon d'Or after ronaldo scored a hattrick against Sweden, needless to say, ronaldo won it that year.

I bet many voters changed their mind on who to vote for after that amazing goal yesterday.

OK. Let's pray and hope that he would be 100% fit in Russia this summer ... we'll see how he would play and motivate against Spain and Morocco. But I can promise you that Portugal isn't gonna qualify out of that group. Mark my words!

O pari

safarigirl:
just because he wasn't on the pitch for the finals, doesn't mean they did it without him.

You underrate the power of motivation. Even the goal scorer admitted that it was CR7's pep talk that inspired him, mans was a coach in that game.

He was instrumental to that win

If Rohr is going to invite any new players, let him invite only Dele Aiyenugba and Austin Ejide. Granted that we need a true top striker, but I don't think that the 45 year old Obafemi Martins is going to be the answer.

As safarigirl would say, he's too young to feature in this world cup, let him wait for 2022 World Cup grin

Aiyenuba yes but not EJide...

Why not Martins? He is in the same league as Ighalo... If he does not perform again, we can remove him.

Omo, Martins is at least 45 years old. Forget about all that 35 year old crap you hear .... that's his "football age".

I mean, he might be able to hack it in China but playing in the World Cup is a totally different ball game to playing in China. I don't think that Martins can last even 45 mins in high level, high intensity game. I was actually suggesting that Rohr should organize a separate training regiment for Ighalo and Mikel in the summer when they come to camp ... to help them with fitness, because I don't trust that Chinese league at all. Now you want to bring along an aged man like Oba Martins from the same mediocre league? No thanks grin

If Martins can still cut it, why not? As long as he does not disrupt team harmony.

How old was Roger Milla when he went to the WC?
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon79(m): 3:48pm On Apr 04, 2018
Bro, Roger Miller was still playing in Europe when he went to the World Cup. Martins is playing in the mediocre Chinese league. That's the problem ...a long with his age. In his case, it isn't age alone that is the problem .... it's age plus the level of competition/training he has had the past few years.

Baba if you judge Martins based on age and league then Mikel and Ighalo should be dropped as well.
Remember say Mikel and Psquare be set for J.town and while Ighalo's age too can be questioned. As for Martins, I was at rowepark Ebutte Metta in the 90s together with Martins and Ladi under the tutelage of BabaOmo. I can comfortably say he is just few years above what he claims and not the blotted years ascribed to him by you people drawing reference based on my on current age.

That might be true but, Roger Miller is the exception not the rule. If Martins couldn't get the job done when he had a chance in 2010 World Cup, I honestly don't see how he could help us at his ripe old age.

Personally, I think Keshi treated him unfairly in 2014 World Cup but I don't think we need him right now. On current form, I don't see him providing anything substantially better than either Kelechi or Ighalo.
