LCC Targets Lagos-ibadan Expressway, Opens New Operation Office by adekanmbi1986(m): 2:51am On Apr 13, 2018
THE Lekki Concession Company has opened a new operation office that will serve users of the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, just as it expresses interest in managing the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway currently under reconstruction.

The 1.346km Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge was constructed by the Lagos State Government to reduce traffic congestion around Eti-Osa, Lekki, Epe and Ikoyi environs.

It is being managed by the LCC along with the Admiralty Circle Toll Plaza that also links the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

The Managing Director of the company, Mr. Mubashir Hassan, who declared the new office open at a mini-ceremony in Lagos, said it was meant to save cost, easy their operation as well as serve motorists using the link bridge toll plaza better.

Before now, the LCC management was operating from a rented apartment around the link bridge toll plaza, where it was reportedly paying about N9m.

Apart from providing an easy access for motorists to buy e-tags or electronic tickets and e-tag top-up that could enable them to use the fast lane at the toll plaza, Hassan said the new operational base had an information desk for enquiries on the activities of the LCC.

“This beautiful edifice will be preserved as much as possible. We’ll make sure that the place is well maintained,” he stated.

Hassan also affirmed that the security on routes under the management of the LCC had been very tight, adding, “You can hardly hear of robbery cases on all our roads because we have dedicated policemen patrolling the area day and night. Motorists plying our roads know that as soon as they enter the area, they are secure within the environment.”

The LCC MD said the company had zero tolerance for potholes and recalled when recently some people complained about a portion around the Abraham Adesanya area, the company had to quickly move in and the place was fixed in less than 24 hours.

He urged motorists using the road to always abide by the rules of the company and drive with utmost care in order to ensure a smooth journey with maximum safety.

He also urged the people to take advantage of the e-tag, which he noted as providing a faster and easier passage for motorists using either the Ikoyi link bridge toll plaza or the Admiralty Circle toll plaza.

On the desire of the LCC to manage the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after the ongoing reconstruction work, he said, “If we do well with the Lekki road, it is possible for the Federal Government to consider us to take care of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Anytime they are ready and we are contacted, we’ll be glad to do it.”

No please. Lagos Ibadan expressway is a national property. Don't bring that wicked elitist toll scheme from Lagos. It is too important to entrust to the Asiwaju company.

The Fashola Administration handed the management of the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge over to the Lekki Tolling Company (LTC) in 2013.

The LTC office used to be opposite the current LCC office (it was on the other side of the bridge).

That piece of land was given to the Lasema Response Unit (LRU) and is currently the home of LRU tow trucks, ambulances and motorcycles.

LTC was given this piece of (where LCC's new office is) and then the Ambode administration revoked LTC's management of the bridge and gave the concession to LCC.

The Lekki Concession Company is in charge of reconstructing the Lekki Expressway and has been collecting tolls on the expressway since 2011.

What other company has displayed such efficiency at managing a tolled road in Nigeria ? I am yet to see any other. This is exactly what the problem is with you Igbos if you are not the one doing it is sentiment but if you are it is on merit.

May your tribe be able to put their brain to work n to the morons that will tell me not to generalize we all know all of una folo sleep, face one side.

The LCC despite being a special purpose vehicle created to ostensibly deliver the Lekki-Epe Abandoned Expressway (toll unabandoned though)

The LCC is also a vehicle used for massive land acquisition by private Interests along the Lekki-Epe Axis

Firstly, I am not igbo. What LCC is doing in Lagos is not toll, it is impoverishing Nigerians. A toll should be a token for road maintenance not a conduit for enriching "governor emeritus". The amount charged as toll by LCC/Asiwaju is criminal!

I am getting worried about the intellectual health of Nigerians. Tribalism has eaten so deep people no longer have common sense. Every important issue is now x-rayed under the prism of tribe/ethnicity. We are in trouble

It think they should consider constructing an alternative route with their own money or borrowed money then toll that.

Which criminal company? Hehe, this people don sell Nigeria. do we even have a federal government?

What exactly is tax payers money used for? What's the special thing about building that damn road?

I don't blame them, when we come to nairaland to hail a government for building roads or commissioning a busstop.

Bros, what are you saying?

Fashola gave LTC to manage since 2013

You said LCC have been managing since 2011

What exactly is your point?

If you know how well-maintained Lekki Expressway is, you wouldn't complain about the company's desire to manage Lagos-Ibadan. The govt in Nigeria cannot manage ANYTHING. Any company that would ensure that the road is well-maintained should be given the job. I don't care whether the company belongs to Tinubu, Nnamdi Kanu or the Sultan. Just get the fvvvcking job done!
