Chiwude: Bia Efi ala, I initially wanted to simply IGNORE you, but i thought it might be better to make a few statements of fact. I am from Ogwashi uku and neither from your Enugu, Imo nor Anambra. You are quite mistaken to call me a peacemaker. I am not a peacemaker because i am ever-ready for war, I just state the facts as i see them no matter whose ox is gored. I identify strongly with my Igbo identity and wish Igbos will look onto Nigeria as a strategic unit instead of the sad broken pieces of ineffective states that cannot muster the critical level of resources to make bold improvements. The SE Governors and people MUST unite to fund strategic infrastructure and develop a plan to solve power problems in the zone. See how others are scheming to take over Federal assets and use it to position their zone globally (https://www.nairaland.com/4454334/western-nigeria-governors-bid-murtala). I think i am one of those few Igbos that have lived in all 5 SE states and come from Anioma. I have a unique perspective on issues that you can never fathom unless your drop your village mentality and open your eyes to the reality that face you in Nigeria. I can say both in this thread, the defunct Anambra thread, Imo thread etc, i have lashed at Chino's madness with Abagworo. Chino even opened an Asaba thread once just to mock me and told me to leave Anambra thread for him because it was not my state. Chino knows a few thing about me which i bet you do not. I am NOT afraid of being insulted or cajoled to abandon my belief. You just have not been born if you think you can. The truth is that Chino and Abagworo are not Igbo. They derive joy in sowing seeds of discord among Ndigbo. For you to say i support Chino means you have just registered in NL today. You can easily scroll back to beginnings of this very thread and see how i handled Chino when he posted multiple pictures of Obasanjo dancing and othe unsightly things to derail the thread. Having said that, i have also noticed some people here who have deep seated hatred for Anambra people. How could somebody say all those things about Onitsha and you expect me to applaud them? What they wrote are as abominable as what Chino wrote. I posted several times here that folks should just ignore Chino and the other kid because i know from experience it hurts him more when you ignore him than when you respond with gutter images. Bro, i don't have your time. Truth is that most of you are so shortsighted with typical village mentality to see the big picture. If you develop your village to become London and your state is backward, you still come from a backward state regardless of how your village looks. Conversely, if you develop one tiny state and the entire Igboland is backward, then Igboland is still a backward place regardless of that one state. You guys should for God's sake stop thinking like villagers and think globally about how to better your own race! 5 Likes |

cjrane:I agree with everything you said but Chino is 100% Igbo but I've not ascertained that of Abagworo, he could be as well. Just because they misbehave does not remove their Igboness, everyone can't behave and think alike. |

Aka bie gi n ana. Nkita lacha gi anya. It is you that the gods shall destroy soon. Chino is doing the right thing by responding hate with hate. Have you bastard preached peace to the people that are the first to ignite problems? The truth of matter is that I must always throw bombs for any bullet shot at my state. I don't care about igbo brothers who look for my trouble because I will not fail to respond in a more devastating manner. Let everyone learn to respect him/her if not if not this will continue to be a vicious circle for all of us. [s] Chiwude:[/s] |

These people commenting on this thread are either not in tune with present realities or they just want to feign ignorance. No eastern state has made a challenging push in economic expansion and infrastructural development. If you see the roads, no one will tell you the active life of the road won't be long, but we still cheer them because we are seeing tar on the road. Kano we are talking about is sharing it's allocation with over 22million people within a space thrice that of Anambra and with a lot of poverty stricken people. We keep on cheering these governors saying they don't have much. How big is Anambra that it cannot build very good roads? Let me tell you all these, we will keep arguing and having wishful thinking and Kano will continuously getting it right until they become Lagos. Kano has presently surpassed Kaduna in many areas because they are doing things right. Kano now has almost 7 tertiary institutions in the state but you call them educationally backward people. If you still stay in the east and probably in the West thinking the north is slow in development, then I will give you info first hand that the only thing igbos are ahead (or seem to be ahead) is building residential buildings and nothing more. In Kano, white men do real business like normal Nigerians. They sell goods and provide services. They have industries, have restaurant and other recreational activities. They speak Hausa like every other indigenes and go about everything like normal but we still feel Kano is Almajiri stricken people. Yes they have the downsides, but I will tell you this, no road built in this thread and other threads can ever surpass what was built kofa ruwa, kwana sabon and environs. These guys build quality roads and I have seen these roads. We need to stop giving flimsy excuses because in the long run, another governor will put the same roads in their budget. 6 Likes |

Purehuman: What's your opinion about this Dave Umahi's concrete roads in Ebonyi state?

Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Purehuman(m): 8:26am On Apr 16, 2018 |
The solution to our problem is that we need to engage our business men before we can have any substantial development in the region. We have not had any meaningful economic summit in the region. We have not told igbo businessmen that this where Enugu is going or what Ebonyi wants to achieve. Government can only show you where you can go. We are failing in critical areas but since the roads are fine and hotels are built and little bit of eateries here and there, we are fine. We the youths are to blame, we cannot call for economic summits and let's talk. The eastern region isn't too big for over 35million people to develop with strong and big economy. People have money but they don't know how to invest in the region. Until you create an alternative that shows that the market in the region is 70million strong, then we will keep bickering all over the internet. 4 Likes |

spyder880: These roads are beautiful. Very good for the long run. We need to ask a question, does that road have a strong foundation? You know the type of soil we have in the east, if the roads do not have good foundation it will eventually wear away. We need economic roads and forms of transportation. We need real sectors and not sectors only seen in books. We need to drive something, anything but we are not doing anything. Igbos are funny people. We shout Ariaria market and Onitsha market but when you go there you are not seeing the hype. We need to sell a bigger identity than what we sold in the pre-60s. 4 Likes |

Enugu is not yet good. Imo is not yet good. Abia isn't good. Anambra is not yet good. Ebonyi isn't there at all. Those are basic truths we need to tell ourselves. We play politics every time but we stopped thinking. Kano economic summit held last year and Oodua economic summit held last year with the high and mighty in attendance. I don't care about their development because I know we have a greater driving force than them. The only problem igbos have is the patience to plan as a people but these governors plan based on their myopic mindsets. Just look at the nonsense policies they keep dishing out. Do you know that igbos have at least 15million millionaires in naira that can drive the economy before we invite the whites or other ethnic groups? No, we don't know, we keep waiting for Chinese to locate us. If we can't utilize the human beings that we can handle, how can we utilize natural resources? I am still saying this, if igboland isn't bigger than Niger state and it has over 35million people from the region, then I bet you, we are obviously getting everything wrong. We keep pointing fingers to Abuja but no one seems to be pointing towards Owerri, Enugu, Awka, Abakaliki, and Umuahia. Very funny people. Umahi went to go and build air conditioned stadium 3 Likes |

Purehuman: I think its the business class that's supposed to plan and execute business ideas in the region, this is because if we continue to wait for the governors, who themselves were not investors or businessmen before becoming governors, things might not change. But the political class must provide the enabling environment. If I plan an industrial park or a leading service in Enugu, without the government in support, Roads and other infrastructure will be lacking there, security might also be an issue. But the one that really draws the clock back is the lack of power to produce goods and materials in competitive costs, by the time I fuel and maintain my generators, costs will surpass that of imported substitutes. 1 Like |

spyder880: The major problem we have also is following up on signed MOUs. Teams from South Africa have visited Enugu to build a coal power plant. Another team has visited to build about 5000 houses...etc, etc but years after signing, nothing is happening. A power plant has just been completed before scheduled December date in Edo, to generate MW 450 of electricity. I don't know the issues we have in the east, especially Enugu where the governor is only interested in the rural areas. 2 Likes

spyder880: That's the painful truth Spyder. I have always told people that the government is highly responsible for the failed system because they fail to channel their works towards industrialization. They just want people to see that they can build 1km road and people will vote them. There are strategic 1km roads that a governor will build that will push industrialization. There are strategic transport system and policies that will push market expansion, etc. We just feel we can't do much but when we look at it well there are so much that can be done. |

Ofodirinwa:You are the one being sentimental and throwing up emotions all over the place, must all cities excel in every aspect if Owerri and Enugu has topped SE in Greenery and Onitsha and Aba topped SE in Commerce and Industry why are you down playing. The role of Onitsha and Aba for it lack of greenery when you fail to recognise it strides and development in commerce and indistry hypocritically you fail to castigate Owerri and Enugu for their failure in developing Commerce and Industry in their respective states. On the other hand note that I clearly stated greenery and not hospitality because only Owerri is the real hospitality destination in SE, Even Awka tops Enugu in Hospitality, holiday destinations and resorts, note that Enugu has not lived up to what it is supposed to be, yes we all love Enugu but Enugu has remained stagnant in development despite patronage from all SE state, as it stands today even neighbouring Abakiliki is about topping Enugu in development, thanks to the visionary leadership of Umahi. On the flip side don't drag me into your silly pettiness I will never engage in insulting any state from the SE continue with your foolery on a lone accord I least expected an apology from you for derailing this lovely thread that many of us have followed like twitter cause I knew you were not matured enough to say sorry. |

Cooly100: Nwanne, I think major projects left Enugu with Chimaroke Nnamani Sullivan Chime was good but he merely improved the general infrastructure of the state Chimaroke Nnamani built Agbani Law School(the third in the country at the time), Rainbow Net, Cosmo Fm, Marlum Constr Company, International Conference Centre, ESUT permanent site, the list is endless. He didn't have much money like Sullivan (because of fed allocations) but that administration was daring. Those projects put Enugu on the map and created thousands of new jobs in Enugu. Who knows how far Rainbow Net would have gone now had EFCC not sealed it off. I don't want to talk about basic infrastructure like housing, road, water, hospital, etc. I will never forget that man regardless of how we condemn him in Enugu. This doesn't suggest that Sullivan didn't work, but I like the way Chimaroke approached governance with daring projects. 5 Likes |

Purehuman: That's the point. As the western governors are buying MMIA, why can't the SE governors buy AIIA Enugu...Get Igbos in diaspora with foreign partners and build world class international airport there. Also get all approvals so all flights can come to the east...even if it has to be one-weekly...until most easterns will learn to fly from Enugu and not Lagos or Abuja. Passengers from Delta and Benue could route their flights from Enugu instead of Lagos or Abuja which are farther. 2 Likes |

Cooly100: No, they are planning to buy SUVs for all traditional rulers and gifting 50 communities with 100million each to build town halls and village square. If the investors you are trying to lure doesn't see any effort from you, he'll think you are not serious. I was watching NAS daily on Facebook, do you know that a single individual made big organization to spend over a billion dollar in his village to become an industrial village. He didn't have the money but he was able to lure big investors to invest a billion dollars. Another lured 5billion dollars to build a city in his country. Not a loan but pure investments. So even between ourselves we cannot generate up to 10billion dollars worth of investment to rebuild southeast and returns on such investments? I might not be an economist but if a person can remodel and upgrade Onitsha market, it will generate thrice the amount the entire state generates in a month. We keep seeing things we need to do but we are refusing. Aba needs overhauling. As in chase everyone out and redesign the city to its deserved taste. That could be Milan or Paris of Africa. They design clothing, shoes and everything. Shoes and clothing businesses are responsible for 10billionaires in the world today but we cannot organize such sector and get things going. We need to let people know that we can be trusted in delivering high level goods and services by redesigning our pattern of development. We are losing in many aspects because we are failing to organize ourselves and cut the Lagos and Abuja umbilical cord. 2 Likes 1 Share |
