Kayode Scores As Shakhtar Donetsk Reach Ukraine Cup Final
By Adeboye Amosu

Nigeria forward Olanrewaju Kayode scored on his first start for Shakhtar Donetsk as they thrashed Mariupol 5-1 to book a place in the final of Ukraine Cup on Wednesday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Kayode, who is on loan at Shakhtar from newly crowned English Premier League champions Manchester City, scored his side’s fourth goal of the encounter in the 74th minute.
Brazilian forward Taison Barcelos put Shakhtar ahead on eight minutes, while Igor Tyschenko equalised for Mariupol in the 22nd minute.

Shakhtar regained the lead through Marlos Romero 16 minutes later with Taison, Kayode and Ivan Petryak adding three more goals in the 47th , 74th and 81st minutes respectively.

Kayode has now featured in three games in all competitions for his club and has hit the back of the net twice.

Shakhtar will face Dynamo Kiev, who beat Dnipro 4-1 in the other semi-final, in the final on May 9 at the Dnipro Arena.

Pinnick Opens Up On Super Eagles World Cup Bonuses, Friendlies, Goalkeeper Plans
By Richard Jideaka, Abuja

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has allayed fears that the federation may be facing challenges preparing the Super Eagles for the summer FIFA World Cup in Russia, saying there is no cause for alarm, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Speaking with the media in Abuja, on Wednesday, Pinnick said he is fully in charge of Super Eagles’ World Cup preparation and he will leave no stone unturned to ensure that Nigeria have a successful campaign in Russia

“We are not facing any challenge, and I would like to thank the government of Nigeria for creating the enabling environment for us to strive,” Pinnick said.

“The government has given us all the support and more importantly create that stability we always sought in football.
The government has really done well by giving us financial support to reach our goal. I thank the Minister, who has been a major supporter of our programme.
“Talking about the World Cup, I don’t we have any issue because I speak to the technical officials, especially the coaches everyday, and I am also in touch with the technical committee. I am totally in charge of the World Cup and I don’t delegate functions that are crucial because the desire of every Nigerian is for Super Eagles to do well at the World Cup.

“So, I don’t think there is any challenge. We had a meeting with the team in November and we signed agreement with them that 30 percent of the FIFA money which is $2.8million will be paid to them. I am a very transparent person and every detail on bonus for each match and up to the final as well as share of income from FIFA money was agreed on.

“I am not one of the presidents of the federation that don’t talk about money and you find every detail of it. The $2.8million we agreed with the players is almost 100 percent already for them to collect whenever they come. We met a couple of State governments and even made presentation to FIFA in raising the money and I can assure that the money is 100% certain for them to collect.”

Pinnick also revealed that the NFF will shoulder the responsibility of flying the Congolese national team to and from Nigeria for the next month’s friendly match against the Super Eagles in Uyo.

“We are making an arrangement to fly in the Congolese national team because that is our responsibility. We are not going to give them any money. We would bring them here, stay for two days and take them back to their country after the match,” he explained.

“They are like 10 steps ahead of us in FIFA Ranking and we just want to humble them here and before going to England. The tickets for Nigeria/England match is almost sold out and it will a good game. The match would play at the Wembley on June 2, and from then we would go to play Czech Republic in Austria on June 6, before moving to Russia for World Cup.”

On the goalkeeping situation of the Super Eagles, Pinnick said plans are underway to dispatch goalkeeper trainers to all the national team keepers including Dele Alampasu, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Daniel Akpeyi and the Spain-based goalkeeper Francis Uzoho for one-on-one training ahead of the World Cup.

My people, sorry to derail the thread but I just have to say my mind.

I have noticed certain negative trends in here which, if left unchecked, may cause us some real problems.

The first of these is the singling out of certain monikers for needless general attacks. For instance, It shocks me then, when Forgiveness and Komekn are branded "enemies of the eagles, tribalist, "borough kings" e.t.c. such name-calling and hate speech should be condemned by everybody.

Also, the adoption of certain players as "candidates" by forumites is totally appalling. Why go to the extent of downplaying the attributes and potentials of a naija player just to promote another naija player?.

Lastly, what's up with Safarigirl?. Why did everybody run to her aid when it was clear she started the whole brouhaha? Why was Andrew444 banned and Safarigirl not banned? I thought we were supposed to have equal rights here? Why is Safarigirl seemingly above the law? Is there something they are not telling us?.

As for oga Icon4s, your role in that conflict was utterly disgraceful. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Once again I apologize for the derailment.

P.S: I have been an active member of this thread since last year (mostly on ghost mode though). So I know what I'm saying.

I don't even think rorh is interested in this stats u guys throw around olayinka and samuel kalu can score all the goal in Belgium rohr will still stubbornly call Simon moses ahead of them bar the goalkeeper crisis rohr know 95% of his team already. One thing i also notice about is if u are first timer u must chop bench ebuehi ,ogu, onyekuru, and agbo (the chairman) don chop bench tire

E don do abeg ahhh, If You do not have an unbiased predisposition You will understand why people are mad at the guy, most have said she started it first. we dey insult each other especially for naija but what people are angry about is how low and childish the guy went with the insults, not "why was he insulting safari". arguments happen it is normal no one cares too much.
Please don't be like that guy wey come in pretence asif nah peace maker now later started yapping all over the thread.
Oga that fan favorite nah for your head, I'm relatively new on this thread but that doesn't mean I have to wait for the "untouchable" to endorse my comment! there have been people here wayyyy longer than you who have keep the thread alive, it's only natural they relate on a different level than with those they don't know, it's more like a family, if you want to join join but stop trying to make it look like the "untouchables" are the ones who call the shots.
This is a nairaland, anybody can say anything, nobody is stopping you from dropping a comment.

You might be right in the long run. Not expecting them all to make the 23 man list but at least be given fair chance to show they are also capable.
Danielnino00:

Unfortunately, not all of them will b called up... I have this bad feeling that even Onyekuru may be left out of the 23 man list and Joel Obi might be the reason for that....

Why I say so is because Rohr already knows 90% of the players he will b taking to Russia.. I don't think there is enough time left to experiment for new players...
Its quite certain that we will b taking 8 defenders to Russia.. that will leave 12 spots for the midfield and attack.. in midfield the following players are very much assured of a place on the plane: Mikel,Ndidi,Onazi,Etebo,Ogu... If Rohr decides to add Joel that will make it 6 MF and 6 attackers... the 6 attackers are likely to be Moses, Iwobi, Simeon, Musa,Nacho and Ighalo... No space for Henry...

If Henry or any other attacker will b added to the list, then one of Etebo,Ogu and Joel will b dropped....

Just my thoughts....

Match day? You have to be at the training pitch first before you are allowed to even feature on match days.

Didn't ask him to invite all players but those showing signs of positive addition to the team.
Icon4s:

Firstly, the best place a player can show what he can do is on match day and not training ground. That is when they get to deal with the real situation

Secondly Rohr cannot invite every player.

Oga, before you crawl back into that your ghost mode let me talk to you.

If you really want to understand the dynamics of this thread deactivate your "ghost mode" and start making comments. That is when you will really understand why certain things are the way they are here.
We have on countless occasions cautioned peeps here against names calling. Virtually every one here has been a victim of one name calling or the other. Me inclusive.

On people having favorite players here it is only natural. And virtually every one here consciously or unconsciously has a player or a group of players they are always fronting or defending. There are some that will always love and defend players like: Iheanacho, Awaziem, Ebuehi, Aina, Uzoho, Iwobi. There is one that the only players he has been consistent with on this thread are Ajagun, Aluko, Raheem Lawal, Solanke, Kayode, Martins etc.
Another one the only players he rates are those born in England.

There are some of us that prefer old tested players while some others prefer young inexperienced players. Some don't even want to hear the word "experience"!

All these are all natural. And these differials in choices of players are the things that keep this thread going.
It is not a negative trend as you put it. It makes the debates even more interesting and intense. The only thing we have always preached about is to know when to back out when the argument is beginning to go over the roof. And we have always preached against insults and more still insulting people's parents.

You think we arrived at over 3300 pages by just coming here to read news and agree and go away?

On safarigirl, there is no one here who did not agree she started the fight. But what I am particular about is the way the other party handled it. He went against the rule by hitting her below the belt.
Safarigirl can worry, we know her very well and what she is capable of.
I was even the first person she had misunderstanding with on this thread. Do you know I also received a ban?!

We have admonished her on countless occasions of which she is even better of now(if you have been long on this thread you will agree), but we continued to cope with her. Take it or leave it she is a favorite of most here which is why she received the type of protection she got. We are not promoting insults in any way. We condemned her actions also.
This thread has moved to becoming a family.

Finally, I implore you to permanently crawl out from whereever you just crawled into and become an active member. Then you will better know how things go around here.

One love man.
