correct bro!!!even most wont be able to read this your write up till the end, shouting it is too long, the thing is most youths believe hard work is physical work but no!!! we are lazy in developing our mental strength, we are not putting our brain to work, an average nigerian hates tasking his brain, they are are just too comfortable in their comfort zone, i think our sensitivity to religion can partly be held responsible because a brain that is too religious has already been partitioned and can not work optimally
It is the same almight prophet buhari whose cows never increase in numbers is the creative one? Is it the Buhari who never acquired any known knowledge or business after leaving power, that is the creative one? just tell me.

That's the problem, the lack of creativity, why should a masters degree holder, MSC holder be doing security job when he was sent to school to be creative and create things in his or her environment? Oh no, it's the govt!.

Why end up doing what doesn't require formal education after spending 10-12 years in school? what then did the school do to your intellectual growth? oh no, it's the govt.

An educated person is the one who does things different from the way uneducated ones do.

God bless you sir, many youth with M.Sc are doing security jobs, drivers and so on; just not to be involved in crimes and yet one old man will tell us, we are lazy.

Its actually in harsh environments our creative ability is put to test, most of what we enjoy on earth now came in the era of nothing, and alot of innovations came from the era of wars. creativity hardly strive in comfort.

Yes, because the youth allowed this. go and check all the striving nations on earth, the youth made them so.

What can old men do without the support of young and vibrant youths? so if Nigeria is backward, check the youth, it's caused by docile youths.

Buhari is few years to his grace and have little or nothing to gain on earth again, he's saying things the way they are, if you like, don't stand up and have things changed for the best.

A hopeless statement. Nothing works in Nigeria. Is that also the fault of the Youth. When graduates will come out no job, no light, no health care system, nothing virtually works in Nigeria. Why wont the stupid man say so. What has he put in place for the Youth. Youth will struggle and struggle and die as a Youth, while the fools of 70s keep holding positions of authority tight. So tell me the avenue for the Youth to work and exhibit their potentials. Why do the Nigerian Youths succeed and shine immediately they step out of the shore of this country. Stupid statement from a hopeless entity.

This fools keeps disgracing Nigerians at any slighted opportunity he has. His son that crashed with almost 5million naira power bike, where is he working and how much is his salary per month, if actually he is engaged in any meaningful work. Lazy fools.

My brother, I will like you to calm down to reason this matter well ooo.
Nigerian Youths are by far not lazy at all.
That statement from our President is quite uncivilized and a show of disrespect to the youths.
If u accept what PMB said at Westminister, it means that you as a person is a lazy youth.

Let us take for instance most of the posts we have seen in this forum about some inventions made by the youths from all over the country, like car invention, drone, and so many others, have u heard government giving support to any of the inventors?
How many functional research centres do we have in this country? What policy do the government put in place to favour what our people are producing here?

A boy of 12years in Imo state build a rocket. Lunched it and went to a very far distance, landed in a farmland in one of the communities. The landing caused a very great panic in the community where people tot that the community has bn invaded by one Militant group like that. Wen it was noticed that this little boy did the research and used local materials to form this rocket, tell me what government has done to encourage this boy. That idea is now dead.

In my secondary school days, a JSS2 boy built a radio station inside a damaged school locker. Anytime he puts on his own radio, it will cut off the transmission from a particular radio station and whatever he is saying will be heard on that radio frequency. Where is that knowledge today. He was threatened to stop that work and was also told to go and "destroy that nonsense you are wasting you time on".

My brother, where is Mbaise Battery?
Where is Dr. Abalaka HIV/AIDS drug?

Anybody saying that Nigerian Youths are lazy, is just a very wicked person.
PMB said it to cover his incompetence in providing a conducive and enabling environment for our talents to grow.

Nigerian Youths are the most hard working all over the Continent (Africa)

Let the youths in each states form pressure groups and have candidates elected from the groups, then make it a national movement, from there get into positions of power. the old men won't do this for the youth. problem is, most of the youths in Nigeria grew up with a wack mindset so i doubt if they can actually do anything different from the old men/women around.

A society where money is the ultimate value, corruption and desperation wont allow the "just" among the youth get to the top.

Sheuns:

You made a few points sir, but everyone cannot become programmers, I'm into programming even though I didn't study computer science in school, not because I didn't want to but admission issues and pressure made me look elsewhere cos time was going, I learnt all I know in web development today through online tutorials and videos.

What I'm driving at is Nigerian Youths (majority as said by the president) aren't lazy, it's circumstances that made some of us result to vices et al.

What we need are very few highly innovative minds to help improve our current status as a country and our educational system has a major role to play in that aspect. Not everyone will be like some of us that self educate ourselves.

Quality education is very paramount to development of any nation and sadly we lack that here. The youths can do very little in reforming the education sector.

whatever the governments both past and present have done were allowed by the youth who form the major parts of the population. the youth should take responsibility and take back the country by carefully selecting those with track records among them to lead. i am not talking bout noise makers, i am talking about those who started things on their own with no corrupt background and see if this country won't move forward.

Man2utd:

As much as I want to agree with you on the points stated above, the government also has a major role to play, I have always stated this point and I will state it once again, how many of our roads and bridges are constructed by Nigerians, and we graduate thousands of civil engineers every year. Buhari himself was sick and went to seek for medical help abroad, that's because he doesn't trust the Nigerian doctors. The issue of research, a sensible government will give research grant, to encourage people to engage in research or how do you expect a hungry person to think.

Well, I didn't watch the video, but if it is true that the president said Nigerian youths are lazy, then it really is a baseless statement.
Firstly, all Nigerian youths ain't lazy.
Secondly, majority of Nigerian youths ain't lazy.
So the statement is without fact. If he had said, some Nigerian youths are lazy, well I would not have argued. Cos, Anywhere in the world you will meet a lot of lazy people.
And please what is his definition of lazy? Someone without a job, someone without a good paying job, someone that isn't creative or someone that is into crime? I would like to be enlightened on this before i put more argument forward.

Excuses here and there. Nigerians are excuses! well don't worry, the old men will leave the podium for you guys when they are all dead which might be forever since they keep replacing themselves. The jobs they all queue to work at, who created them? anyways like the video said, those that are not educated and not working are the ones he's talking about.

And for those educated yet cant think up a demand that needs to be filled, then they are not educated either. not everything require huge sums of money and if you must do mania jobs, do it because you want to save to start that creative ideas you have in your head.

[quote author=rusher14 post=66841020]Some of us know you simply choose to be mischievious.

Did he say ALL youth of Nigeria are lazy?

Besides semantics, I put it to you, the Nigerian youth do not display enough creativity.

How much research, patents, world class artistic work would you find in our institutions?
Let me guess..that's government's fault.

In as much as you made a valid point, I will some how dispute some of your points. You said Nigeria do not display enough creativity which is a blanted lie. If you are conversant with some of our TV programs like young innovative you will see the true talents lie low in this country with no support. And most of this creative mind set are from poor homes. You talked about research bros, even our professors do copy and past. Imagine a situation where our government primary and secondary school is of standard, just critically look at it. You will see that it would have helped in combatting the issue of drug abuse, thugs, and criminal lifestyle been exhibited by our youths. Mwe lack good foundation and you can't expect a faulty foundation to yield a good result. Pur economy has thought us how to survive instead of our to grow. And you think the government are not to be blamed. Do we have agency in ho look out for innovative ideas gfrom the grassroot, pick them up and nurture them? A system of eduction where nothing seen to be reality and you expect something good to come out of it. IF NIGERIA YOUTH ARE LAZY, HOW MANY OF BUHARI CHILD HAD A DEGREE here Nigeria public university? Cause he believes they will never be useful to the society that's why he sent them oversea to study

surely you are part of the youths he is talking about, you and his son. when you refer to 60% mathematically that implies the majority and the majority means all or almost all .unfortunately he still haven't told us how his lazy son, who doesn't work bought a 10million naira bike. that boy needs to be before the EFCC explaining himself

Just out of curiosity.

Can you give me the specs of the bike?

Nigerian youths are not lazy and we always strive for excellence wherever we are. Our parents still think we owe them for raising us. Nigerian students are excelling academically in other countries but the story is different in Nigeria. And those that think the government don't owe them needs to rethink the subject. The government has a right to provide social welfare to its citizens and providing quality and standard education is one of their responsibilities too. I graduated from a state university back in 2004 and I paid #4000 in school fees in my final year. There is a deliberate plan to make public schools graduates invalid, this has worked well with primary and secondary school and I never enrolled in a private school. So, my brother, you are wrong to think that the Nigeria youth is lazy.

Time to deflate this notion that having high fliers abroad means Nigerian youths are generally that good.
There is self-selection at work; only youth that are are hardworking or brilliant get to go overseas in the first place. Why be surprised that they do well?
