As much as I want to agree with you on the points stated above, the government also has a major role to play, I have always stated this point and I will state it once again, how many of our roads and bridges are constructed by Nigerians, and we graduate thousands of civil engineers every year.

and they join stoopid council that doesn't fight for their participation in engineering projects

Buhari himself was sick and went to seek for medical help abroad, that's because he doesn't trust the Nigerian doctors.

cos they are incompetent (they shud ground the govt until proper equipment is provided but they prefer to form doctor with six figure salary until their eye clear that the salary is peanuts)
now nobody send dem

The issue of research, a sensible government will give research grant

why, there is oil money so no need for research

, to encourage people to engage in research

what have we gained from the research

or how do you expect a hungry person to think.
he is not properly hungry, trust me

Listen to yourself. If you had someone in that condition who is willing to go to that length to irk out a living then it tells more of the rest of the populace. And I have seen more of that same picture in real life. you really gat some nerve trying to spin this.
Re: Are Nigerian Youths Actually Lazy? by Cjrane2: 8:38pm On Apr 19, 2018
Buhari's ONLY achievement in life is that he secretly plotted the violent overthrow of a democratically elected government in 1984 BY THE BARREL OF THE GUN! He robbed an elected President Shehu Shagari his rightful mandate to rule Nigeria.

Since then, Buhari has continued live on the acquired loot of that adventure to call himself a "former President" that deserves Presidential pension for plotting coup and becoming Head of State by force. Which is a treasonable offence similar to armed robbery.

Tell me how Buhari is more hardworking than a Nigerian youth that has never used a gun to rob anybody or rob Shehu Shagari of his mandate as President of Nigeria?

A country can't flourish where theres insecurity

israel

n other political n economical ill-factors like high interest rate,

also insane profits

poor educational system.

nothing wrong with our educational system, its the ppl that are bad

Pls back ur point by listing out inventors who came from terrible countries like Nigeria wivout any wealthy or influencial parents.

why are all our wealthy youth all lazy

Baba biko think before you talk.

abi u do same

And mind U i graduated with a 2,1 in Electronic/Computer Engineering buh I am a successful poultry farmer.

so you wasted ur time and nations money in wrong profession(would'tve if you were paying full price)

So think deep before U hit back. There is a model called PESTEL analysis, I learnt while doing ICAN. Pls google it. Its used to scan the Business environment while Analysing a company's strategic position. Maybe U will understand that you dont just start a business cos U r skillfull buh because the environment supports it.

is the environment supporting your poultry?
why aren't youth going into what the environment support instead of going into sexy sounding courses that are useless to the nation at this time

So sir Govt policies e.g fiscal policy, monetary policy, supply side policy, education policies n the likes av massive effect on a nation's economy.

yet we challenge govt sports policy or ponmo policy or spraying policy but never fiscal policy,i see.please check definition of laziness

Wonder how you didnt even see Voting an Illiterate who doesnt even know how to spell Macroeconomics as a problem but fast to judge the Nigerian youths.

what do you know about political science
so we shud not vote you

He protected for the non availability of food and he sacked us.
He employed some Pakistan's guys and it's was funny that what took us a day is taking this guys 2 to 3 days. The albab knows we are hardworking and what he did was to stylishly call us back. Nigerians are not lazy. If you are I am not.

laziness is of the mind, for the fact that one is working and sweating doesn't mean that one is not lazy. Even if the government assistance is greatly needed, we as an individual have a role to play. We can be better with criticism...

Some of us know you simply choose to be mischievious.

Did he say ALL youth of Nigeria are lazy?

Besides semantics, I put it to you, the Nigerian youth do not display enough creativity.

How much research, patents, world class artistic work would you find in our institutions?
Let me guess..that's government's fault.

Ok let's go to the number of our young people who have access to the internet. How many are involved in programming, animation, international research syndicates?

Let me guess...that's the government's fault.

Here on Nairaland, start a topic with a misleading headline and wait to find how many would spot the disconnect between the headline and the body of the message.

Let me guess... it's the government's fault.

The youth of Nigeria are lacking in creativity and please don't give me Nollywood and Afro music. It can take only a few entrants.

We need people who want to create and constantly think of solutions.

We need people who channel their energy positively and not in cult activities, Yahoo or drug use.

Talking about drugs, this poor nation is experiencing a new wave of drug abuse...tramadol, codeine, skunk etc.
That's what the nation is about.

Many Nigerians are of the misconception that the country is rich but the reality is that we aren't.

Yes we have the potential to be wealthy, but we are a poor nation in every way, shape or form.

It is your choice to accept the criticism.

You can go renegade and discount it.
It is your life, your future. Play it as you wish.

Listen to me my man! Nigerian youths are the most smartest and hardworking people from Africa or the black race.. if you come to the US and see Nigerian youths working everyday with no day off or life whatsoever. All the youth need are opportunity. Set them in motion, provide basic amenities and see the Nigerian youth take off to the highest level.

yeah they can, its'u who can't think outside the box

And not everyone have the finance or knowledge, I am only priviledged.

yes they do but laziness is their problem
you chose not to be lazy and got the knowledge
they chose to sit and complain

You said I wasted my time studyin a useless course?

no,i said you wasted the country's time

I think I'm getting to see your position. Cos some don't have resources n influential parents, they dont deserve a life.

nobody deserves anything they are not willing to fight for
waiting for oil money tat will never come is not included

I think I give up on U.

same way all youth have given up on nigeria and expect miracle.

Evn Buhari n d llikes were priviledged because the British who were rulin created an enablin environment.

no,they were lucky cos they were born then.it cud've bn u and with this your mentality we will end up the same.laziness

Baba lemme knw ur position. Nofn wrong wiv d education sector, goin on strike is normal abi.

why do we go on strile.have you bothered to do research(mental laziness)

I gave up on U d moment U claimed what makes Buhari right is Population of voters who support him.

i didn't claim he was right(more laziness)
i said that is the qualification to win(read instead of saying wrong thing in blind rage)

how can u say som'n about a non intellectual

The environment is hostile because the people are hostile. This includes the youth.

Nigerians love to extricate themselves from all the ills of their society.

If Nigeria is bad and it is not you giving or receiving bribe, it is not you involved in exam malpractice, it is not you who is involved in Yahoo or prostitution or drug abuse, then tell me who is?
Who made the people to be involved in all these? Isn't it your so called leaders? Including your almighty buhari. I have been to all the states in Nigeria except the North East and over 21 countries worldwide.

I have worked in forests of Benue, Cross River , Nassarawa and stayed in the best of places in the States, UK, South Africa etc.

I have killed scorpions and snakes and been ravaged by sandflies and bees.

I am Ijaw/Itsekiri.

When you achieve half of any of these then maybe we can have a conversation.

You are just an opportunist, anyone can hide behind the computer and brag about been to the moon, that doesn't make it true. most people I know in Ikoyi where I stay are just like you, they brag about this and that, but when you hear their story you will understand their father is either a former senator, governor etc.....freaking opportunist making noise.

Don't brag about where you have been to with this issue at hand, brag about what you have been able to achieve in Nigeria with the harsh condition, tell me the companies you have been able to create and how many Nigerians you have employed.

Just like Ben Bruce reacted to this issue.

but if you can't provide anything to show what you have done to help this country, like some hardworking Nigerian youths I know, then bros pls stop bragging about travelling to the moon and back you are still one of the people PMB was referring to.

I have never like this president but now he is telling the truth. Not only are the youths lazy we nigerians are generally lazy that is the 100% truth. We go to other countries do well in their schools and then want to do crime that is why a lot of companies have left nigeria. Nigerian people do not want to work all we want is government job sit down and collect money at the end of the month without doing anything. That is why people are not investing in the country. Nigerians go and invest in other countries because of are behaviour. Anybody which is doing something we get jealous and send him to build another country. Because we are lazy do not want progress.

You asked whether we can’t prodice cocoa. The average Nigerian that wants results now now, can you wait for cocoa plantations to mature and bear fruit? The rice that the government is investing in, aren’t majority of you complaining that the govt banned the importation of rice? If you don’t stop the competition how will your home grown survive? But you aren’t patient enough or willing to sacrifice enough to wait for anything to bear fruit. You just want everything solved yesterday yet you have no suggestions or solutions.
