Seems like having a travel history is a double edged sword. CIC is just so unpredictable, I applied 28th February , no medical request till now , just eligibility and background checks still under review and processing till now . My only trust is in God.

Hello Gurus in the house.. I really commend yours effort, the shared experience and advice given to me, which has been the driving factor that kept me going.

Please I've come again to seck your advice, I received a message from the embassy yesterday that

"In the current application package, you submitted a bank statement purportedly issued by FirstBank that has been determined to be fraudulent"

It's my personal bank statement Of account not that of sponsorship bank statement and I was given seven days altematum to respond to this information and my application will be judged base on the respond I provide to them ... Please I want you guys to put me through .
I will be very happy to hear from you soon. Thanks

To answer your question, yes absolutely one can be denied even with full scholarship from a Canadian university!! I have seen people on this forum with full scholarship denied student visa before. One that pained me the most is one student who got a full scholarship of 20k from USASK that was denied based on not having significant ties to country that would induce his return to Nigeria. It was a pity!! 20k yearly scholarship forfeited, applicant walked away a sad, a broken and defeated man! I always wonder what he is doing now!

Ps: people with full scholarship denied visa are clearly in the minority. A majority with full scholarship sail through.

Hmmm. What does ties mean to those people sef? Was the guy an orphan?

Wife, child, aged parents, serious and gainful employment, other future prospects in Nigeria that are economic, social or professional.

Aallizzwellwole,

Did you truly submit a fraudulent bank statement with your application? Why I asked this question is because, It's very rare for Canadian embassy to falsely accuse an applicant of being into sharp practises of faking a bank statement without having strong evidence on ground, the embassy must have made series of calls to the bank branch from which the said bank statement was generated or the headquarters at Victoria Island Lagos to know the authenticity of the bank statement prior contacting the applicant via email and giving a 7 days ultimatum to respond.
To cut the long story short, if your hands are clean and aren't involved into sharp practises. Simply walk straight to your bank and request for an updated bank statement from the day of your application submission till date and a bank reference letter to be addressed to the Canadian high commission - stating that the said account number has being in existence with the bank and that the said bank statement is not fraudulent but has been running with the named customer, attesting on your behalf that you are their customer since this day till date, and your available balance is...., with the signature of the Authorized manager of the bank at the end left and right side of the letter. With this, you will be fine.

All the best!

The bank statement you submitted, where did you get it from? Did you pay a bank employee to issue it to you or did you personally make it from your computer? What is the authenticity of the bank statement? Is it real? Come out honestly if you intend to gain any help here.

It baffles me alot bro because the Canadian embassy are too big to play a guess work with an applicant app, they must have already gotten a strong evidence on ground with them before contacting the applicant of being into fraudulent act. They don't falsely accuse applicant with serious issues like this. Well, I have given my advise, it's left for the applicant to take a step. The outcome of this, if found guilty is a 5 years ban, which has already tanished the image of the applicant from traveling to Canada and other American continent.

It may surprise you, but they play guess work all the time. It psycholigical work at play many times. Sometimes they have evidence, sometimes they don’t. I have seen them accuse people of submitting fraudulent bank statements a few times when in reality it’s a real bank statement submitted. I don’t know why they do that. Perhaps because the bank statement submitted looks made up.

Very sure. I have seen one person wrongfully accused of submitting fraudulent bank statement last month. He had to get a reference letter from the bank and reissued statement in authentic looking letterhead. And another person told he ticked no on the answer to question whether he had been refused a visa before, but record shows he has been denied USA visa. Both refuted strongly the administrative letter. Both were eventually denied but did not get a ban.

Perhaps, @Aallizzwellwole only moved the money into the account and moved it out few days later, just to print a statement for submission.

Please the gurus, lets comment on this post. If someone could submit evidence of tuition payments running to 23,716CAD with evidence of 12K CAD as living expenses and he was still denied on ground of insufficient fund.

DrND:
Please gurus in the house I need help on how to tackle this @pics attached.
This is my second refusal. The first was based on recent lump sum in my uncle's account who I used as Co sponsor and the second reason was based on my main sponsor NDDC leaving scholars stranded abroad.
NDDC has paid my full tuition(23,716cad) and has deposited 16,284cad as my upkeep.

In this second application I submitted school fees reciept, evidence of money being deposited in my Canadian account and I also added my Nigerian SOA with a closing balance approximately 12kcad.
I am geological sciences graduate and I hold an offer from memorial university to study oil and gas engineering.
I have been working as an assistant geophysicist after I finished my NYSC.

I seriously need help from the house to decipher what the VO was really looking for and I will love to address all that again in my SOP,

ayeopare do you think that could have been the reason for saying the applicant submitted a fraudulent bank statement? I don't think this is enough to falsely accuse an applicant. Moreover, embassies has no right whatsoever to know the factual amount (available balance) on your bank account. They only make calls on code to the bank that requires a YES OR NO answer from the bank officals requesting for the authenticity of the bank account, the transactions carried out but NEVER request for available funds on the account as it is not safe to release your balance to a third party. If an embassy is unsure of the statement (the available balance) you submitted along side with your application, they will request for an updated one to know if truly you have spent the money, often happens when an applicant is instructed by the Canadian high commission to pay their first year tuition. This took place in the past, but haven't come across it happening of recent. I mean requesting for an updated bank statement prior to issuance of a visa.

All fingers crossed and lets watch how it goes.

Sir, please I also need urgent help as I'm about to submit my online application for Canadian study permit.

I applied last year for South Africa Conference VISA, but was delayed till I missed the program. When they sent my parcel back, there was no stamp and no rejection letter whatsoever (In the decision sheet).

My question is this: What should I say when asked whether have been refused visa before on the study permit application portal.

PS: I have all documents to back up my claims.

Thanks in anticipation.

Kind regards,

Sure, that is the right advice. They usually will deny the visa though on other grounds, once the financial ground and accusation is overcome. He might be lucky though once he has gone past the financial ground to prevail on other grounds. The best owned anyone is to try their best right? Best wishes to him.

Kind regards,

It seems to me that the time for your conference elapsed before the South African visa to attend the conference that you applied for could be processed. So it seems the embassy never acted on your application and returned it to you. If that is the case, I would say you have not been denied a visa and your answer should be “No.”

Biakwa,

Yes! Visa officers goes through CV's once attached with applicant application, as it provides clarity to the visa officer on her expertise, but stating she has an MBA (certificate not yet collected) won't be a reason for a refusal. It pose to be a problem only if she is going for an MBA program in Canada. If not, I don't see any problem here.
You can as well acquire this MBA certificate and send it directly to CIC via email and it will be quickly attached with her ongoing processing application.

All the best!

Good morning Frank,

Can I proceed with Express Entry process while my wife student visa is still in process?
Is there consequence if I embark on it, even at long run?

Expecting your response as usual.

I was shocked seeing this. Well, Sir! It may interest you that payment of upfront tuition is not a prerequisite for visa approval. But it is really ridiculous after paying full tuition and having living expenses in a dorm account and the visa officer is still unsure if the applicant will have funds for their studies in Canada. I also wondered how they expected you to show proof of relationship with guarantor (NDCC Company) after going as far as settling your first year bills. For ticking insufficient funds for reason for refusal was an unfair judgement on your application sir. If I were to be you, you can hire an experienced immigration lawyer and request for a judicial review on your application, while a new visa officer reviews your application, this route takes a longer time like 6-8 months before a decision can be made and will cost you 450k-500K in naira.

Meanwhile, how was your sponsorship letter like, did they give a tangible reason for sponsoring you abroad? What they stand to gain in this sponsporship and the length of the sponsorship?

Thank you for the prompt response. I applied for the SA VISA on 24 November 2017. The normal processing time is 7 working days. The conference was 6-10 December, 2017.

They sent back my passport to VFS on 7 December 2017.

~~Documents Submitted~~
√Normal CIC documents
√Conditional Acceptance letter with funding information (Full funding covering tuition and living expenses)
√Letter of explanation (Financial) pointing out that I have a full scholarship and my paternal uncle will sponsor my airfare costs and miscellaneous expenses
√Above-mentioned uncle's bank statement
√Letter of sponsorship from uncle
√Undergraduate transcripts
√Undergraduate degree certificate
√WASSCE certificate
√National Service appointment letter
√My pay slips
√CV
√My birth certificate
√Letter of Explanation, elucidating on why my proposed course in Civil Engineering is in fact related to my undergrad degree in Geological Engineering. I also addressed the conditions on my acceptance letter, then a final paragraph dedicated to explaining why I want to study in Canada and not Ghana.

NOTE: Even though I submitted my uncle's sponsorship letter and bank statements, I did not list him as sponsor in the application form since he was basically only covering my flight expenses. I heeded @jnyuwa02's advice to unequivocally write "Full Scholarship".

I bless the stars for making me discover this forum. Ghanaians are a minority on nairaland, but all your supports make me feel like I'm part of the family.

God Bless you all.

Hi guys..

Regarding the question of having relevant academic or work prerequisite relevant to the program in the study permit questionnaire.. Are they talking of courses you've taken during your undergraduate degree??

Also, the question about having a relative in Canada.. Can I fill in the name of a friend who is also studying in Canada or I should fill N/A

Thanks
You just said you have a friend in Canada, not a RELATIVE..... so your answer should be NO.
On your first question, it means academic and work

Don't you think ticking "NO" is risky here?. Considering the fact that applicant application was delayed and returned back to him.
The applicant can still tick "YES" and quote the date of the refusal, this should be better than ticking "NO" even though there wasn't a refusal letter in the sealed envelope that was returned to him.
