Pure nonsense.

The guy that observed whatever he observed didn't even notice that there is also bias in the way the news about the killing of Christians was reported.

It should have been ''Catholic Priests Killed By FULANI Herdsmen''.

They have been omitting FULANI; now they are calling it Farmers/Herdsmen clash. When did farmers and herdsmen clash? Are the Fulani Herdsmen not the ones killing everyone just for their cows to wear clothes like humans?

I think the newspaper headline concerning the killings in Adamawa was even very fair to Muslims. If it was to be reported along religious lines, even a toddler will know what the appropriate headline will be. First ask yourself who killed the Muslim wrshippers. The answer is Muslims.

Then the appropriate headline should be ''60 Muslim Worshipers kiiled by Muslim Terrorists''.

In a week 100 Christians killed vs one Muslims death. This is a killing tactics by the killers. 200deads to one dead. Just to make it appear they are not killing only the other people, nonsense. If they could not sight any Christians to be killed they result killing themselves. They are same people kidnapping young Christian girls and hiding them in the Mosques and Emir houses. The truth remain the Christians is the sole target by Boko Haram, herdsmen and political killings. Statistics don't lie. Just stop attacking Christians they done nothing to you and then we will believe Zahra.

AIR FORCE GIRLS COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL-ABUJA.
FRIDAY SERMON.

TOPIC: PREPARATION FOR THE COMENCEMENT OF RAMADAN.

BY: NASIRUDDEEN ABDULLAHI ISA.

In the Name of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful.

Glory be to Allah (SWT) Who, out of His Mercy favours us by making us followers of the best person and leader of all creation, and for making the religion of Islam to overshadow all other religions, and for making all acts in the religion to be beneficial to us in this life and the next.

We thank Him Almighty for His abundant blessings and for the provisions which we cannot quantify. We testify that He alone is Lord, having no partner and we ask from Him the beautiful things of this life and that of the Hereafter. We do testify also, that our leader Muhammad (SAW) is His servant and messenger and that he indeed delivered the divine Message of guidance to the right path. May Allah bless him more, along with his family, companions and all of us.

In a few days to come, we will Insha-Allah enter into the month of Ramadhan, so this sermon discusses the preparation towards the commencement of the fasting and the need to gear our minds towards gaining the benefits of the mouth. Ramadan as we know is the month of compulsory fasting for all matured Muslims.

It is a month of extensive Qur’anic recitation and a month in which we are encouraged to feed the poor and the less privileged. The idea behind it therefore, is to call us to submit ourselves totally to Allah by a renewed struggle while experiencing for 29 or 30 days, what the poor have been experiencing all through their lives by abstaining from food, drink, sex and bad behaviours from dawn to sunset with the intention of self purification.

So prepare well and turn your minds towards a lot of Ibadah and generosity to people in this blessed month. Remember:

“Whatever good you send before you is for yourselves (and) you will certainly find it with Allah even better and greater in reward.” (Quran 72:20).

The month of Ramadan is so important to you as a Muslim, because it was in it that Allah sent our leader Muhammad (SAW) as a Prophet and Messenger. It was in it Muslims fought and defeated the unbelievers of Mecca in the battle of Badr. It was in it, the prophet opened the gates of Mecca and conquered it after 10years of exile and it was in it the first revelation of the Qur’an came to Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

No matter what are the seemingly difficult task the Ramadan will bring of hunger, thirsty and body weakness, we must be happy with its coming because its beginning is blessing, its middle forgiveness and its end liberation from the Hell-fire. It was reported that Allah said to Prophet Musa (AS), He is giving us the light of Ramadan and the light of Qur’an, so that they cannot be harmed by the darkness of the grave and that of the Day of judgment. And to round it up He said, all the deeds of man are for himself except fasting, that belongs to Him, and He alone knows its reward.

The Holy Prophet (SAW), when the month of Ramadan comes, used to intensify all acts of worship and increased in feeding the poor and in being generous to all for the sake of Allah. This is because in such a month, it is as if shops and stores of reward are being opened wide, only for people to make the intention, volunteer and enter these shops and grab them.

Even the companions of the Prophet (pbuh) used to complete the recitation of the Glorious Qur’an in the prayers of Tarawih addition to spending a better share of their wealth for the sick and the healthy alike, “And have in (their) mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, except only the desire to seek the countenance of (their) Lord, the Most high” (Quran 92:19-20) what a unique intention and selfless desire?

The Qur’an said for all of us, there are beautiful and emulative acts from the Prophet (SAW) and his companions for us to copy. You are therefore encouraged, to prepare very well for a lot of Ibadah and to show compassion towards everyone in the month you are about to enter. Remember, “Whatever good you send before you for yourselves, you will certainly find it with Allah, better and greater in reward.” (Quran 73:20).

PART II

Thanks be to Allah (SWT). We praise Him, ask for His help, seek for His forgiveness and look up to His guidance. For whomever He guided will not go astray and whoever leads himself astray for him there is no guidance.

In a few days to come, we would enter into the month of Ramadan and I thus advise you and myself in it, to turn our hearts and tongues towards the remembrance and glorification of Allah. Be frequent in attending mosques and establishing regular prayers. Think a lot about both the commands and prohibitions of Allah with the view to guarding them, love one another and seek for Allah’s forgiveness, for in Ramadan, Allah (SWT) forgives all sins for which you seek for his forgiveness.

It is worth it, preparing well for a month that is best of all months and the best of days which comes but once a year. I have the honour to announce to you the coming of this holy month the way the Messenger of Allah (SAW) used to announce it to his companions. He used to say: ‘Here comes to you the Holy month of Ramadan whose fasting Allah made compulsory. In it, the doors of heaven are opened and the doors of Hell-fire are closed and the devil and his agents are chained.’ Why then shouldn’t a believer be happy with such a month whose beginning is mercy, whose middle is forgiveness and whose end is emancipation from fire? We have every cause to be happy with the coming of a month about which Allah (SWT) says to prophet Musa (AS): “I am giving the people of Muhammad two lights, so that they would not be harmed by double darkness.”  Prophet Musa (AS) asked, “And what are the two lights O Lord?” Allah says: “The lights of Ramadan and that of Qur’an.”  Prophet Musa (AS) asked again: “And what is the double darkness O Lord?” Allah says: “The darkness of the grave and that of the Day of Judgment.”

Concerning the sighting of the Ramadan crescent, the Prophet (SAW) says:

‘If you sight it begin fasting and if you sights it (another crescent), break the fast, but if you could not see the crescent due to clouds, then count the days of Sha’aban to be thirty.’ (Reported by Bukhari).

And for those who usually welcome Ramadan by fasting a day or two before Ramadhan proper, the Prophet was reported to have said:

‘No body should fast a day or two preceding Ramadan, except for a man who is a habitual faster (or one who bow to fast, like one who intends to fast the whole of Sha’aban); if these two days happen to fall among the days in which he fasts, then let him fast.’ (Reported by Bukhari).

And another major problem of Muslims in some parts of the world, particularly West Africa and indeed Nigeria, when it comes to Ramadhan, is the issue of sighting the crescent upon which the commencement of the fasting depends. This has been a threat to the unity of Muslims, at-least in this country as we know, four issues always comes up in this regard:

(1)  That why, is the new moon always sighted in one part of the country and not the other? We should know that sectionalism, tribalism or politics as its being played today, are totally irrelevant in the Islamic brotherhood. Islam is always a single state and Muslims irrespective of their tribes are the indivisible citizens of that state. In our local case, we have to consider the fact that the atmosphere in one part of the country is always cloudy compared to the other that is relatively clear. If we are to be unbiased, which of the parts do we expect the tiny crescent to be sighted?

(2)  That why are the months of Ramadhan and the one preceding it always 29 and not 30 days, despite the fact that the days of the Islamic months are not fixed? While it is true that Islamic months can be either 29 or 30 days, neither Allah nor the Prophets categorically mention which one would have 29 and which ones would have 30 days. The calculation is only human, which may or may not be in conformity with what Allah decreed. So that shouldn’t be a basis upon which to build an argument.

(3)   Others would want to see the crescent themselves before they commence fasting. What the Prophet says was: ‘If (the crescent) is sighted commences fasting and if another crescent is sighted drop it’.  He did not say ‘If you see it’ which means any other person can see it, at least two people who have not been known to be liars and deceitful. In a Hadith, a man went to the Prophet (SAW) and said he has seen the Ramadan crescent. The Prophet asked him: ‘Do you believe nobody is to be worshipped except Allah?’ He said ‘Yes’. ‘Do you believe Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?’ He said ‘Yes’. The Prophet said to Bilal: ‘Make the announcement to people that they should commence fasting tomorrow.’ (Reported by Ibn Hibban).
This shows that the only thing you need to know about the person who says he has seen the moon is for him to be a Muslim and that is all.

(4)   For the group who hold the opinion that the moon cannot be seen in the early hours of the morning and then be seen that same evening as a new crescent, they rest their arguments on the explanations of some scholars in their books of Tafsir, that the moon appear for only 28days and disappears for 2days in a month of 30 days, while it appears for 28days and disappears for a day in a month of 29 days. People should know that this fact is not universal; it is only peculiar to the places where the authors of such observations originated and other areas of the same climatic condition.

And if this is an argument to hold, what then happens to the regions of the earth where it is established that the moon appears continuously throughout the period of its cycle; and disappears not for a day, talk-less of two days? This apart, neither the Qur’an nor the Hadith said the moon even disappears at all for any reason, what Allah says is: “And the moon, We have measured for it path (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk.” (Quran 36:39).

What this verse says is, the moon neither disappears, but it reduces in size such that it will be difficult for the ordinary eye to see. And since in all cases there are exceptions the exception here is that, Allah can cause some people to sight it due to the strength of their observation.

A time, these problems are caused by the Muslims themselves, in the sense that so many of us don’t even know the names of the Islamic months not even to talk of the dates. It is only when the Ramadhan approaches that we begin to argue on whether it is time for the new moon to be seen or not. We must be conscious of the Islamic dates all year round, so as to be able to present our cases base on knowledge and reasoning. And lest we forget, as soon as the moon is sighted and announced, you must go to bed with the intention of commencing fasting the next day. The Prophet (SAW) says: ‘Whoever did not make the intention to fast before the coming of dawn, for him there is no fasting.’ (Ibn Hibban).

Among people, there are some, who are earnestly waiting for Ramadhan with the sole intention of intensifying their Ibadah, but unknown to them, their time on earth has come to end: “No person knows what he will do tomorrow, and no person knows in what land he will die.” (Quran 31:34). As we are waiting for Ramadhan, we should remember that the Holy Prophet (SAW) has forbidden us from commencing fasting a day or two before the moon is sighted (as a welcome to Ramadan) as some people do, except if it is the habit of one to fast on such days.

If we are among those who would witness the month of Ramadhan, may we witness it in sound health and high Islamic spirit. May Allah (SWT) give us the ability to work hard in it and may He give us the full reward of our righteous deeds.
