For now you can use it but once operation commences fully, a software will be sent via the dish to turn it to a customized decoder like other decoders like starsat and dstv decoders

you have to understand this model especially if u re used to strong 4969. had same issue before

Even 4950 is not good for tracking but the best for tracking are 4669, 4922 series. But 4669 Series are just mpeg 4 while 4922 series are HD, 4950, 4955 are H.264 meaning there are some channels which 4950, 4955 will get while 4669, 4922 will not. But HEVC decorders are above them all( T8, T3000, T800 ETC) are in this category. As for me even an ordinary mpeg2 strong decorder(4663 series) can be use for tracking.

I am told there two versions: SRT 4955 and SRT 4955B. I have SRT 4955 and its a beauty to track with. Signal Quality and strength bars work. I also use it to move my motorised dish as well as automatically switch between a cband and Ku lnbs using diseqc commands. I have however never seen SRT 4955B but i have been told it is smaller than its brother and has been deprived of the sat tracking features. Probably this is the one you bought. The two even have different software at crosat.

Yes you can. Make sure you connect to a port marked universal not the one marked unicable.

I bought them both from jumia for a client, think they said the b is just a minor update though not notice able in the eyes cos they look the same in fact they both uses the same software from official source. as for the tracking ablilties they both have over bloated signal to the extent that you wouldn't know the real strength and quality until you hook it up with a 4669 or 22, i.e it doesn't give you the steady progression of the signal strnt and guality to enable you track tricky freqs. verdict: not suitable for a rookie xept youv used it before. don't get me wrong it a very good tracker but not too sensitive to little signal.it a hit and go decoder. it like is saying the best or nothing at all.

I saw one of their marketers yesterday,I was told it opens dstvs channel and it comes with one year free acct. I didn't believe,I have not tried it though

Press F1000 to enable patch, then go to menu then goto patch, then scroll to biss menu. But if f1000 did not work, you have to upgrade your decorder with patch software via www.tiger-sat.net

4922 doesn't have good software support. Go for more recent stbs like 4950 or 4962I if you can get it. Go forward not backwards.

Stbs are like wives. If you get a new wife make the effort to understand her. If you want her to be like your former wife you will be unhappy. Like I said I have 4955 and I have never failed to nub a sat with it. If you are not pointed at the correct sat your bars are guaranteed to be 00%.
