maestroferddi: The veneer of contempt is misplaced...
In the final analysis, doctors should desist their luck too far because if they continue with the prevailing avarice, then something is wont give soon.
They are relying on their political connection to further inequity and insensitivity.
But some day, a government will call their bluff and then the little respect still remaining them will go with wind.
The fact that other health professionals give deference to doctors ought not be abused by doctors to the point of seeing themselves as gods while their co-workers are sub-humans. You guys are the ones with political connections not even doctors. Stop lying to the public. In nigerian hospitals other healthcare workers abuse medical doctors. Stop peddling falsehood. Doctors deserve a good salary for being in charge of patient management. 1 Like |

shullamite: At least its clear where the problem in the health sector is coming from now. The doctors don't want other staff to enjoy a little increament of salary even after government has increased their slararies more than Three times in in four years. This is just a case of wickedness and man's inhumanity to man. The doctors are not the employer of labour but they are telling government what to do. It's a case of eating alone and wanting other people to die of hunger even though there is excess food to serve everybody. Let the world see how wicked the doctors are in Nigeria.
Let me tell you the truth early this year the government of Canada increased doctors salary but the doctors refused the increament and told the government to use the money to pay other health workers and improve the facilities in the hospitals for patients to enjoy. But in Nigeria the case is opposite. This isn't just about the increment, how much have you read about this? |

stonemasonn: a registered nurse of over 20 years experience who is a specialist in say oncology should earn much more than a fresh medical graduate.
Moreover before government sign any agreement with JOHESU, government should include licenses and examinations every two years for all JOHESU members. No exam no license, no license no job and no salary review. Why would a newly employed nurse earn more than a clerk or cleaner who has worked for 15 years. After reading the memo released by the NMA, I can't help myself than to laugh. I read a reply to this topic by @dechriscool where he stated all the job done by doctors. My dear let me enlighten you that medicine has advanced than what you think it is. Have you heard about Urgent Care Team? Then I will advise that you click on this link and learn more. https://www.england.nhs.uk/gp/case-studies/beacon-medical-group-2/Nurses, Pharmacists, Lab-tech/Science have all advanced than what you think they are. I read where someone is saying that a nurse cannot be a specialist, guy kindly try to read wide; have you heard of nurse consultant? Finally, I don't think that NMA has the right to determined what other health workers should earn. if you are basing the fact that you pass through a rigorous process to become a doctor, that is not a reason to dictate what other people should earn as salary. it is better to know that other health workers like nurses have carried out research on various diseases up to phd level. Doctors shld respect other health professionals and leave the government to pay what they can afford. We shld be considerate, even "if doctors and nurses are earning the same salary it still doesn't change the fact that a doctor is a doctor and deserve the respect as a doctor" 2 Likes |

I don't know why the NMA will dictate to govt who is the employer of labour on how to treat other employees. It beats me how a set of people who claim to be highly educated don't know the simple meaning of 'consultant'. Nigerian drs if u can't open ur dictionary, a simple Google Search for the word will suffice. I have a lot of Dr friends and most time I wonder if they the same as the bunch of no nothing miscreants parading as doctors making noise up and down, disturbing the peace of the healthcare system. When I discuss with these highly accomplished doctors, the usual conclusion is that it is greed that will make a doctor to leave his own field and go poke nose in another's field.
I read where someone called people in other professions rejects, seriously u need help. I chose Nursing as a first choice and am proud of it cos they were the ones that made an impact in my life with all my hospital experience as a little child.
At the end of the day the govt is to blame cos when we don't have enough equipments and instruments that's when a doctor, nurse, lab scientist, pharmacist etc will have time to poke nose in anothers biz.
Our Nigerian trained doctors that are here making stupid noise will get abroad and work in hospitals with nurses, pharmacist or even a hospital administrator as the CEO. If you one, just reject the job offer and come back to Nigeria and be heading dilapidated buildings with nothing but greater embarrassment and shame.
The day our health sector took a turn for the worse was when they started this consolidation and look where it has kept us when it comes to health care.
Nigeria, a country that keeps trying the same failed policies all over and over without learning from the mistakes made. The day peace will come will be when everyone gets to be on the table and decisions are taken together, until then the cat and dog system continues. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Why are you DOCTORS LYING through your teeth. THIS IS JUST EVIL. Haba!
NO ONE asked for EQUAL PAY between doctors and Johesu. How is that even possible? You people are really evil to promote this propaganda that the reason for the strike is equal pay with doctors. THERE IS NOTHING OF THAT SORT.
Johesu is asking for a rise in pay and not equal pay. They say that the newly recruited doctors who earn over 300% higher than a graduate have been given a rise 3 times out of 4 years so they don't understand why the NMA is crying foul because they asks for just a small increase to their own salaries. That is the only time they even mention the NMA since NMA will not stop sabotaging their progress.
Why can't the NMA just LEAVE JOHESU ALONE.
Why should they rise up against Johesu anytime they demand for ANYTHING. Johesu doesn't bother them when they go on strike every other few months but when JOHESU just coughs, the doctors start running down with so much venom in thier hearts, pounding their chest asking why JOHESU dared to cough afterall they are all dumb people who could not pass jamb and read Medicine. So because they didn't read Medicine, they must be punished for the rest of their lives? How does JOHESU's demand remove an hair from your skin. Why do you lots keep bullying them?
I have never seen such egocentric, proud, wicked and outright evil lots as this present NMA leadership. So you want the others to perpetually be in poverty cos you want them to be at your feet. Why is the Blackman like this?

dechriscool: The gang up against doctors is not only by allied health workers but also by some Nigerians. I did a post about how JOHESU members beat up Doctors at NAUTH just to registered their graviances against doctors in course o f this their strike .That post didn't see the day light.
However, the disparity in salary structure between doctors and JOHESU members can't be overemphasized.Read the statement of facts below to guard on the activities in the hospital
THE PATIENT COMES TO THE HOSPITAL TO SEE THE DOCTOR.
There are three group of people in the Hospital worldwide;
1. Doctor 2. Patients 3. Hospital support staff.
-A patient comes to a medical emergency unit rushed by his relatives. -The DOCTOR sends for his file/folder to be retrieved by the MEDICAL RECORDS STAFF. -The DOCTOR takes history from PATIENT and examines the PATIENT. -The DOCTOR makes a diagnosis (or set of diagnosis-differential diagnosis). -The DOCTOR asks the PHARMACIST to supply the drugs for the particular disease. -The DOCTOR asks the NURSE to administer the drugs. -The DOCTOR asks the PATIENT to go to Radiology department to do an X-RAY/CT-SCAN. -The DOCTOR in the Radiology department (RADIOLOGIST) asks the RADIOGRAPHER to do the X-ray. The DOCTOR in the Radiology department (RADIOLOGIST) interprets the X-ray and writes a report to be taken to the DOCTOR in the Emergency. -The DOCTOR in the Emergency unit uses the X-ray report to further treat the patient. -The DOCTOR sends the PATIENT to the laboratory to do some tests. -The DOCTOR in the laboratory (PATHOLOGIST) asks the LABORATORY SCIENTIST or LABORATORY TECHNICIAN to do the test or do the test himself if necessary. The DOCTOR in the laboratory (PATHOLOGIST) interprets the report and sends the patient back to the doctor in the emergency. -The DOCTOR evaluates the patient and asks for more drugs from the PHARMACY for the NURSE to administer. -The DOCTOR admits the patient to the ward if patient is not good to go or discharges the patient if he is good. -THE DOCTOR in the ward keeps on seeing the patient and evaluating his needs. THE DOCTOR calls for the assistance of the NURSE, PHARMACIST, LABORATORY SCIENTIST/TECHNICIAN, RADIOGRAPHER when the need arises. But there is always a need for the DOCTOR to be in CONTACT with the progress of the patient. -THE DOCTOR DISCHARGES the PATIENT home or CERTIFIES him dead as the case may be.
IT BEGINS WITH THE DOCTOR and PATIENT from admission and ends with DOCTOR and PATIENT on discharge from the hospital.
1. DOCTORS WORLDWIDE are LEADERS of the health sector in the best of centers. -Google LIST OF BEST HOSPITALS IN THE WORLD. A list of many hospital according to ranking would come up. -Take the first 5, or 10, or 20 hospitals ONE BY ONE. -For each hospital Google it's leadership. -All would show you that the doctor is the head. The CEO/CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER of all the hospitals have MD or MBBS as their basic qualification. (Most of these doctors have no any other non-medical qualification). PLEASE GOOGLE FOR YOURSELF -THE BEST HOSPITALS in the world. -Then LEADERSHIP OF EACH HOSPITAL.
2.)DOCTORS ARE PAID FAR BETTER THAN OTHER SUPPORT STAFF WORLDWIDE. This pay gets far different when the DOCTOR is a SPECIALIST: CONSULTANT (UK/INDIA) or an ATTENDING PHYSICIAN (USA).
Google the best hospitals in the world and the salary of the workers.
Google for yourself. Do not be fed with lies.
3.) CAREER PROGRESSION for DOCTORS. Doctors have two pathways for progression in Nigeria: i. NORMAL CIVIL SERVICE where you are promoted to the next grade after every 3years. ii. POSTGRADUATE MEDICAL EDUCATION, where you enroll into residency and is only promoted after rigorous academic and practical training and passing of professional examinations. After NYSC the doctor pays heavily to write an exam called primaries. After the primaries he/she undergo extensive training as a REGISTRAR and after 3-5years write the PART 1 exams to become a SENIOR REGISTRAR. After another 3-5years he writes another exam to become a FELLOW/CONSULTANT. Each of PART 1 and 2 exams advance the doctor only one grade level (e.g Part 1 exam after 3-5 years moves a DOCTOR from grade 12 to 13. Part 2 after another 3-5moves a doctor from grade 13-14). The pass rate of these exams generally is between 10-30%. Its difficult to progress through the postgraduate pathway. You may spend more than 6years without promotion.
GOOGLE THE TRUTH.

Shut the fvck up!
Yes they're full of themselves. And rightly so. You think it's easy to be a doctor in this God forsaken cesspit you call a country. Medical school in Nigeria and probably everywhere else is not beans. It's fvckin hectic and only the best minds get the opportunity. Reasons enough to feel proud.
And if you're a motherfucking nurse or med lab scientist. You should fvkin grovel at my feet. There's a difference.
Also doctors become doctors not only because they want to cure your disease ridden families of their illnesses. They have families too and they want to drive big cars like you too. Compared to many other professions they're grossly underpaid. In the Us they're the moist well paid profession. I'm Nigeria an entry level physician earns in the range of $500.
They tolerate this nonsense, manage to shore up all the other fuckeries inherent in the system and Johesu from nowhere is systemically planning a coup and you want them to sit still. Not gonna happen.
Get this into your thick skull. Doctors and all the other Johesu rejects are not mates. The only guys who should even try dining with doctors are pharmacists, and if you take a detailed look at this Johesu rising you'll see that its the good for nothing Nurses and those lab technicians that call themselves scientists that are spearheading the movement.
Take them. Nurses and med lab scientists out of the health care system and it'll still work perfectly well. UITH proved this point a while ago. A doctor is trained to know everything a Nurse / med lab technician knows. And it's not then other way round. This is exactly d problem. I take it dat u ar probably a nigerian doctor as d instinctive arrogance in ur post is true to character. Grow up & cut dat crap wit ur overblown ego & exaggerated sense of self-importance. d nigerian doctor wit his archaic, half baked training is nothing more than a glorified first aider. A glorified first aider come dey refer to other health workers as rejects. Mtchew! What pathetic nonsense! Can u imagine dis greedy money mongers comparing themselves to foreign doctors who ar growing limbs 4 d limbless & performing many medical wonders in line wit their calling & hippocratic oath?. Dude, in today's nigeria, d street chemist is more relevant & does more 4 d average nigerian than ur overhyped, always-on-strike, greedy selves. I tell u authoritatively dat as things stand today in nigeria, dis chemists ar far more important & dedicated & hav more integrity than ur overhyped, arrogant selves. They hav always stood by & taken care of d nigerian people when u guys go on ur conscienceless, greedy, murderous, never-ending strikes. You are here sounding off. What of people who go after armed robbers or face d dreaded Boko Haram in their enclaves in sambisa?. Shouldn't they be prouder?. Make una go sì down abeg 5 Likes |

Is it where he said pharmacists can't use stethoscope? Smh...I guess he doesn't know pharmacists monitor BP Or that they don't know treatment plan for diabetes? What is difficult in that? Obviously he said that because he doesn't know that there are diabetes consultant pharmacists who run pharmacist-endocrinologist clinics for diabetics in those climes |

HillsBlaze: I don't know why the NMA will dictate to govt who is the employer of labour on how to treat other employees.
Iwe oooooo, Iba oooooo.
