Good that you have finally revealed your true chameleonic nature today. That's the trademark of you yorubas. Anyway, you had to since no one was buying into it. You and your fellow lying compatriots have finally derailed this thread into puerile banters simply because you couldn't stand the staring truth that your entire portfolio of history is a chequered fraud.

Go on with your rudderless stroll.

Lies.....a site written by the same yorubas how do verify if its the truth....it was written by the yorubas

I gave you a link wriiten from an unkown source about the three kingdom oyo,Benin, dahomey
Which clearly state that the Dahomey female warrior invaded the oyo empire for slaves around 17c to 18c

Now if be it dahomey was under oyo empire that wouldnt have happened
Thesame dahomey h claim was under your pop has a little of edo pop ..came as well in d 1990 to revered the old empire in honour to adopt its name for it country

dahomey became independent around middle 19 century when oyo had already lost the north to afonja muslim brotherhood the empire can't stand again egba rebelled against oyo by killing his ajeles in egba with help of lisabi so they can't control the southern part of the empire again ..dahomey tried to muscle power by attacking egbas to acquire slaves for their slave market but they were dealt with seriously true they used female soldier in battle with egbas not Oyo which was a mystically approach in war to demoralized opponent but egba too reacted with use of female soldier led by iya olode egba madan tunubu they conquered the Dahomey army

Yoruba see your history!!

Before the advent of missionaries and the British colonial masters to what is now Nigeria, the language spoken by the people of the south-west today identified as the Yorubas was called ANAGO. But the Hausa/Fulanis to the north of old Oyo empire called them by a derogative nick name YABA YABA/YOBA.
Therefore when the Hausa's refers to the Anago speakers of Old Oyo, they called them by that name. Sometimes it is pronounced "youba. " When the missionaties started pouring into the south-west after the abolition of slavery, they met a territory in the throes of civil wars. Old Oyo had fallen to the Hausa/Fulanis, thanks to Afonja. Ibadan was trying to enslave all the other ANAGO-speaking people. There was the the Ijaye war and the Kiriji war. It was only the Benin army that stood between Ibadan and Ile-Ife.

The missionaries, most of who were freed yoruba slaves-Bishop Ajayi Crowther was one of them, started looking for away to unite the warring Anago clans.
They also wanted to preach the GOSPEL OF CHRIST TO THE GRASS ROOT. On the other hand the British colonial administrators wanted a peaceful territory to rule over and an educated elite to work in their civil service. The missionaries therefore adopted OYO VERSION of ANAGO, which the Hausa/Fulanis have given yaba/yoba/youba as the name of the general language of the Anago-speaking group. Bishop Ajayi Crowther published the first dictionary of ANAGO as Yoruba language. Oyo became the CMS academic headquarters. It the saw the birth of St Andrew's college, Oyo which actually started as trade school in the 1800's. And gradually, very gradually the word YORUBA displaced ANAGO.
The people of the south-west today are bearing the nick-name given to them by the Hausa/Fulanis.

I mean ibo that has no known history of conquest before conquer the whole Midwest where Benin are despite the fact u had a strong kingdom in the past. In 24 hours ibo already took control of all ur town and villages. Other Africa tribe never control Yoruba like ibo control Benin during the war during pre colonial or after. 12 hours the whole of Midwest with Benin fell to biafra being led by victor banjo

davidnaze back again with the sourceless quote. The word Yoruba was first seen in the book of the Songhai scholar Ahmed baba to refer to the people he met in oyo empire. The Hausa popularize it. As for the rest of ur quote it’s just trash. Apart from ilorin where afonja rebel with Fulani, they have no hold in any Yoruba city, town or village and Yoruba way of life and culture is still very much intact even so intact that people are complaining we never let go of our culture. The word Anago is still use today very much in Benin republic and Togo so I don’t know what u are talking about. But ur pain on this thread no be here u have been posting false information without source since yesterday even ur brother in crime decided to do his own research and read and he discovered that oyo controlled Dahomey. I will advise u to be more like gregyboy and read too ok. All this ur jargons won’t save u coz when long this thread is over and when unbiased readers are reading it u will just be a source of joke with all this things u are posting.

Dahomey was never under oyo controle.
Don't let yoruba fool you.
What you should be asking for are historical documents.
You can't be contempt with people living today telling stories of events which supposedly took place five hundred years ago !
There is no historical record of oyo being an important kingdom. oyo was a small and young kingdom which got fvcked by fulani.
Dahomey on the other hand had contacts with europe and a lot of notes were taken which describe Dahomey sovereignty.
The only kingom which had influence over Dahomey is the Benin empire, and that was untill the french started invading dahomey.

I think you should show proof of Dahomey ever being under your small oyo.
How come europeans visited dahomey before the 16th century but not oyo ?
If oyo was the seat of power then the european traders would have visited oyo.
Howcome no precolonial map shows oyo as having a sizeable land ?
History is not about story telling it is about proving that things happened !
