Chibuking81: There is nothing exciting in JBerger result. All I see is a strategic disclose of foreign exchange loss. Let us also observe that they refused to put a disclosure note on anything relating to foreign exchange movement both in the SCI and the OCI. 1 Gross profit fell year on year 2 Operating profit also fell year on year 3. 13 directors went home with over N500m 4. Most key management staff are not shareholders. The most profitable thing in JBERGER for me would be to become a staff not a shareholder. Staff cost is juicy. I don't like raining on any body's parade, but if it is 2017 FS that wants to make this stock fly, then I am waiting. It's PE is over 8. It's price to book is 1.2. Dividend yield is like 3%. Honestly, not an impressive result at the current price. If the stock price goes up from current price, then congratulations to the market for proving me wrong. I deliberately ignore Q1 result for personal reasons. 1 Like

This is how they report BAD results when they must have created holes in investors wallets: https://nairametrics.com/q1-2018-results-diamond-bank-posts-₦1-25-billion-profit-before-tax/ You will hear of PBT or REVENUE in the headlines instead of focusing on PAT or EPS....... 1 Like |

Parisfran: Don't personalize it. Use 'OBVIOUS' boldly. If anyone disagree, send him to audit insurance results for better understanding.... Q1= killer results Q2= roasted results. Q3= Cooked results. Q4= Served results with hair, feathers and every other impurities in raw form... |

IchimokuPilot:Hahahahah.... I don't want them to beat me o. I look at most Q1 and I just laugh. If your Q1 is better than 1/4 of last year FS. I will mentally adjust for it. What kind of money are you making between Jan to March that you didn't see to make last year. It's only publishing companies I just look at their Q1 to see if the result for the period is crazy. |

Onuokwu: They sold Diamond bank du Benin. Which do you look at? Bank or Group results? Which one is considered for EPS and PE calculations? Isn't it group results. If it is group, don't you think you should consider the profit of N2b + made by the group rather than N14b + recorded by the bank. |

safepaulooo:I think I agree with you.The bad result had been factored in. I still expect a knee jerk reaction and finally in the short term price will stabilize around that band. As long as FCMB and Fidelity are trading at the current band it will rise. This is my N2 analysis. |

Parisfran: I respect peoples view, since you choose to ignore their result based on personal reason, likewise I welcome their result based on personal reason too. They are construction company, that most of their gain come through winning and carrying out contract, if last year fail to favour them due to economic down tone, and this year favour them due to economic bounce back, is that bad?. Their 52 weeks low was not below #23, if I may ask, do you think with the improvement in their income, that they will soon visit their 52 weeks low or to head towards high? Or are you of opinion that their earning did not improve at all? From my observation despite their administrative sharing of fund, their worse days are over, with gradually bouncing back of economic, and award of road contract. Yes their 2017, PE was 8+, remember that they recorded loss in 2017 q1, but started growing from other quarter, their 2018, q1 is 1.29. If their growth continue, which there is high percentage sign that it will continue, their PE will likely come down to 5+, or 4+. Most time I always stand as a lone man, in advertising a stock, while many will secretly be taking position. Let leave matter for Mathias, I just gave maximum of 90 days period which will cover the release of 2018 q2 result. (Pls remember to bookmark this quote) 6 Likes

Chibuking81:If their growth continue and price remains the same. That's when the PE will reduce. I'm not afraid of being wrong though. I can't decipher the politics behind share price movement, but I can decipher the price movement that comes from an annual report. |

Chibuking81: You missed out the big daddy: Nestle I don't look at PE in isolation. What is the price to book and dividend yield? What is the gross profit margin and what is the ROA? Another important bit for me is, what position does it command in its industry. After all said and done, if a bull comes to nse all good stocks will rise and during a bear era all will fall. Only outliers defy the will of the general market trend. Pls keep the recommendations coming, I need to read more financial statements to catch stocks like ccnn early. |

Parisfran: Go for Stanbic, study their q1 result, I think they are making a head way. Or how did you view their result
|
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by frankyj(m): 6:19am On May 13, 2018 |
The Stanbic Q1 result seems interesting. They bettered the result of 2017 Q1 in many aspects. The major concern i have in this financial is the write back of impairment in 2018 Q1. This is a managment account though, its not audited. The period between sign off of their 2017 financials and Q1 2018 is barely a week, if there was a recovery on an impaired facility the auditors would have accounted for it in the 2017 financials. Not a bad result for Q1 anyway but i wil back out the impairment charge reversal in making any decision. 2 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Parisfran(f): 7:41am On May 13, 2018 |
Chibuking81:The result is good, but like Frankyj said, take off impairment write back. If that is taken off the profit for the period will become more humble. For me to take Q1 serious, I had to look at the prior year AFS. 2017 they impaired N25.6 billion which resulted in a 29% increase from its 2016 impairment figure. Now 2018 Q1, they have recovered N5.1 billion back. My concern is 2017 financials was signed off in February 2018. If the write back was valid, the auditor would have taken it into consideration. Except they say the loan suddenly became good in the month of March. If I use my formula of dividing last year's total profit by 4, I should expect a Q1 profit of about N12 billion, which is far lower than the 23 billion they are reporting. If this year wants to be super, I will start believing from Half year financials. |
