tbaba1234:I've watched the game like over 20 times and I'll say we were better, we kept our shape and pressed them into losing the ball, Shehu was caught off his position just once and he did the right thing by bringing the man down before he got into the box. With a 20% more passing accuracy we would have created more chances and maybe score more goals. |

Icon4s: It's because we have refused to develop and adopt a playing culture or pattern for our national teams. If Spain at a time could adopt the tiki taka pattern which even originates from the dutch for all their teams even at club level, one wonders what is actually the job of our so called technical committee all these years. We only hear about them when a team list is to be compiled. shior |

Liverpool looking to agree deal with 20-year-old, Klopp wants him on pre-season By Tom Coast Currently on loan at Royal Excel Mouscron, Taiwo Awoniyi will not be featuring for Liverpool next season, as SudInfo in Belgium report he will be spending yet another season abroad to hone his skills before returning to Anfield. Before that happens, however, Jürgen Klopp wants to have a closer look at the Nigerian striker, as the Belgian outlet report the German manager will take the 20-year-old on tour to the United States first for the club’s preseason. Set to play the likes of Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund over the summer to prepare the next campaign, the Reds will be giving some of their youth some time on the pitch, while other members of the squad recuperate from their time in Russia. SudInfo got in touch with board members at Liverpool, who weren’t in a rush to sort out Awoniyi’s future just yet despite various clubs like Club Brugge and Mouscron keen on bringing him in on loan. On top of this, the Belgian outlet claim the Reds will also extend the young forward’s contract until 2022, confirming their belief he could become a valuable asset at Anfield if he continues to develop as he has done over the past couple of seasons. Based on this new ten day rule enacted by FIFA, the DR Congo friendly is pretty much useless. NFF needs to do a better job in organizing and scheduling friendlies according to our player's schedules. Nonetheless, all of our players should be available for the England match which is arguably our most important friendly. |

Martz101: The problem with African-Americans is systemic. Blacks have been historically abused and segregated in that country and that is why their descendants (the modern African-American) aren't living better lives like their white counter-parts. In fact, what happens in mordern society is like a reflection of the slave era. For example, their white masters during the slave era believed strongly in the physical attributes of slaves and today, we see Africans dominate in sports in the US (basketball, American football etc). However, this isn't their excuse for bad behaviour. With the number of rich athletes the black community produces, one would expect that they would come together to help their kin put of poverty and ignorance. 1 Like |

Goke7: The Nigerian league IMO has majority of the blame. To develop a playing style you have to start from the home front. But unfortunately the playing stlyes of our local clubs are nothing to right home about. Plus also majority of our national team players play abroad. Apart from major events like the WC and the AFCON the team typically spend 3,4,5 days together. That is also a challenge. Jelisavic Tihomir aka Father Tiko, a Yugoslav, was Nigeria's first ever foreign coach from 1974 to 78. He was saddled with the responsibility of qualifying Nigeria for the 1978 WC. We were on course until Godwin Odiye's own goal in that final qualifying game. He brought the European flavor to our football. Yugoslavia (and Today Serbia) are known for producing quality coaches. Yugoslavia was a major footballing force in the 70s and 80s. Otto Gloria, a Brazilian, took over from Father Tiko From 1978-1982. Otto Gloria to me laid the foundation of modern day Nigerian football. He brought with him the "Samba" style of football which saw Brazil dominate the world all through the 50s to the 80s. Nigeria adopted the Brazilian style of play which also to a very large extent worked for us. Growing up as a young footballer then, we were thought to play the samba style. This requires plenty of ball possession and dribbling. It saves the team plenty of energy and wears out the other team. Here the ball does the running and not the players. While your opponent will be busy chasing the balls. In no time all Nigerian clubs adopted the Otto Gloria's Samba style. Even kids on the streets. Stephen Keshi was a product of this style which he was able to largely infuse into his SE team. Other Green Eagles coaches of the 80s like Festus Onigbinde and Paul Hamilton tried to maintain that style that brought us to lime light in Africa. Look at the 1980, 82, 84 and 88 AFCON teams how they played. You would see the Brazilian flavour. However, in 1989 came Clemence Westerhorf, a Dutch. For those that saw Westerhof's 1990 AFCON team you will obviously agree that they were a lot more athletic and faster paced than the 80s team. They played plenty of counter attacking football. That was the beginning of the European style of play. Plus a good number of our players started moving to Europe: Belgium and Holland mostly. Nigerian players of that era played with the Brazilian kind of skills and the Dutch type of athleticism. Every Nigerian footballer then was thought the trickery of dribbling your opponent one on one. If you don't know how to dribble you have not started. Jo Bonfere, another Dutch, came in and continued from where Westerhof stopped. All through the 90s Nigeria played with a blend of the Brazilian(innate) and Dutch style (adopted from our Dutch coaches) . Bora Milutinovic, a Yugoslav, took over from Bonfere, and continued with the European flavour. Going into the 2000s, Nigeria began to adopt more of the European system, besides, the Samba was no longer as efficient as it used to be. Onigbinde, Chukwu, Eguavoen and Amodu all tried to sustain our adopted Dutch system but they struggled. Lars Lagerback did not add any value to Nigerian football. There was also a Philippe Troussier On came Stephen Keshi who to a large extent was able to reintroduce our system of play of the 90s. May his soul rest in Peace. Ball possession and athleticism. Samson Siasia seemed not to have raised his coaching style from the youth level. Typically known for adventurous football with not much efforts to fortify his defense. He typically comes our with high scoring and high conceding teams. Sunday Oliseh's reign was too short to effect any meaning style of play to our football. Gernoth Rohr has brought a different dimension to Nigerian football. German football thrives on compact midfield and efficiency in the attack. They typically choke up games creating little space for their opponents to create chances and hitting them on the counter when they have the opportunity. It is left for us now to see how this system would work for us in the WC and in the coming years if Rohr remains. 6 Likes |

DrLikita12:thank you for this Same Nigerian men complain about the women, but the women are like that because the men have brought out the worst in them. Nigerian men demean ALL Nigerian women, they disrespect them continuously. Nigerian feminism can indeed be extreme and downright idiotic at certain points, but the women have been pushed too far These men go about dating leeches over and over again, only to assume ALL women are like that. The ladies that are actually not like that cannot even get a man because the average Nigerian man is intimidated by a woman who has her money and isn't needy. Nigerian men love needy women, so, they will keep having relationships with them and keep insulting the rest of us as if anybody sent them message. They expect all relationships to be sexual, but they accuse all women of being olosho, as if they did not create the olosho You are what you choose to date. 2 Likes |

Goke7: You are on point. Also the players of early 80s,90,and early 2000s....fact[we have argued this here]...then it was flair...entertainment....free flowing....players wanted to excel....now it is money and winning..so coaches adapt to that mentality with tactise that will ensure that...we have an avalanche of players of those era...national teams and clubs...it is now commercial football...its about commercial football..Pogba is HIGHLY OVERATED....You see what i mean? |

Martz101:Very on point!!! I love the way we play, no need for side ways pass when the shortest distance between two points is a straight line coupled with the way our forward players run off the ball allows our full backs get into nice attacking space. If the stars align for us, we are in for a good world cup. 1 Like |
