Messi: Argentina Must Prepare Well, Take Average Teams Seriously At Russia 2018 Argentina captain, Lionel Messi has warned his teammates to be wary of the ‘average teams’ at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Argentina will face Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria in group D at the World Cup in Russia. Messi who still rues La Albiceleste’s 2014 FIFA World Cup final defeat to Germany in Brazil admits in an interview with Mundo Albiceleste, that the two time World Champions must be prepared to end their long wait for a third World Cup title. “We all have to be fine in order to do well in the World Cup. It gets more difficult because the teams are better prepared,” Messi began in an interview with Mundo Albiceleste “Having gone to three finals and lost them all is a huge weight that we have. We want to overcome that barrier.” Argentina with Messi lost two Copa America finals on penalties to Chile in 2015 and 2016. They also lost the 2014 World Cup final in Brazil. “Today, an average team can break you down defensively, and on the counter can beat you 1-0. Football has become very competitive, very tactical.” The Barcelona superstar also plays down the comparison between him and legendary Diego Maradona insisting that he wants to be remembered for what he has done for football. “I don’t care about being the greatest of all time. Just the fact that people talk about what I have done or how my career will be remembered offers me satisfaction,” he said. “I never looked to be the greatest or the second or third or fourth best.” He also praises his national team coach, Jorge Sampaoli who claims that he (Messi) is the greatest footballer of all time. “Sampaoli gives you all the information that you need for the matches, he’s not always on top of you. He does work with intensity. He always asks you to do things at maximum effort. “Sampaoli told me personally I was the greatest of all time. But I think coaches look for ways to try to get the best out of their players. I just didn’t expect him to say that publicly and the instance that he said it in.” https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/messi-argentina-must-prepare-well-take-average-teams-seriously-at-russia-2018/ |

you must be a dreamer edging simon moses out because of simy nwankwo who is unproven in the national team. the worldcup is not a place for one to experiment or gamble. rohr already know his most trusted players of which am very sure simon moses is inclusive. nwankwo will be given the opportunity to show we football loving Nigerians what he has in stock against congo then will be given more chances after the world MetalJigsaw: |

Icon4s: You are missing the context of the debate. Some people claim to have been following clubs in Europe since the 90's. I am pointing out it is true. Some people did. Lots even though a large percentage of the current football lovers did not, it does not change that fact. Finito. |

Kelechi is being heavily tipped by the premier league official site (as written by Adrian Clarke) to take the EPL 2018/2019 season by storm based on his strong finish to the season and fine second half-of-the-season showings. https://www.premierleague.com/news/691611 6 Likes

Nigeria with their fast players will be tough warns Argentina’s Nicolas Tagliafico The Super Eagles will be difficult opponents as they have some fast players, according to Argentina defender Nicolas Tagliafico. Nigeria and Argentina will clash for a fifth time at the World Cup in Russia on June 26 in Saint Petersburg. The Eagles have a lost all four previous World Cup meetings against the two-time world champions, but they stunned Argentina 4-2 in a friendly in November. “Nigeria are very difficult opponents to play against, we always face them at the World Cup, they have some fast players,” the Ajax Amsterdam left back warned in a television documentary. “We are in a difficult group, so it won’t be easy at all.” Croatia and Iceland are the other teams in Group D. pinnick has done that already by given rohr a new 2 year deal. regardless of the teams performance rohr is on the right track and i foresee this team doing wonders in the next afcon if they qualify. rohr's positive input in this team is obvious by the way the team qualified in style from one of the toughest groups when no one gave them a chance. i must also commend pinnick and his crew for giving their immerse support to the coaching crew by creating an enabling environment for them to work. for once the interference of agents and God-fatherism which have bedeviled our national team for a long time is now a thing of the past. now players turning out good performances in their various clubs both in the local scene and Europe are given fair chances to prove themselves by inviting them by merit. now we have a coach who makes out to to visit our players in their various clubs to check how they are fairing and also intervene on their behalf when they aren't seeing much playing time. Icon79: Remember the Spanish coach, Lopetegui, is a tippy tappy footy ministry coach and if you compare Monreal and Marcos Alonso, you will notice that Monreal has a deeper level of education in the tippy tappy footy ministry than Alonso. Monreal worked with Pellegrini at Malaga and Arsene Wenger which makes it easier for the Spanish coach to transmission, transmission is ministration to Monreal than Marcos Alonso. |

elyte89: Mr man, everybody is different. My first soccer game of importance, was a game in Tunisia 94, where I think Yekinni scored a beautiful goal, the one in which he "height"(like we used to say then) the goal keeper in a one on one situation and then he finished it with his head, I was 8 years then. After that we played Ivory Coast, that one ended in penalty, I remember thinking the Ivory Coast team was better than the super eagles then. The Zambia game I only got the last few minutes because of NEPA. Fast forward to USA 94, by then I had already understood the concept of Soccer, the important players, Maradona, Batistuta before the game started and during the game, the names Mustapha Haji, Roberto and Dino Baggio, Martin Darlene, Bebeto, Romario, Dunga, LaLas, Escobar and a host of others. So Mr man, every childs comprehension is different the other. 1 Like |

Icon4s: You are not the whole Nigeria. I told you by 1996, Multichoice devices was rampant in a lot of homes in Port Harcourt. People in those houses were following Euro football. By 1997, people were hacking Multichoice devices and cable satellite free to Air devices were littered all over Port Harcourt. So because you were watching AIT and highlights shows does not mean others were not watching. I said earlier that I watched the FA Cup final between Liverpool and Manchester United live on a Multichoice device in my neighborhood. We were watching live games of George Weah. Watching live games of Ajax. This was in 1996. They were families like the bosses of NAFCON and some multinationals then who had the big satellite dishes. This was between 1990-1992 era. Many followed euro leagues long before the late 90's. The point is too simple. 1 Like |

They are already bragging how we are going to make the semi finals, forgetting that this same team failed to qualify for the last TWO AFCONS! O pari charlesemeka85: 1 Like |
