I was 7 years old at the 98' World Cup. That was about my class as well. I was a precocious chap. Followed Nigeria match all through the World Cup. I stumbled upon Brazil playing one day in the group stage. Beautiful football I was attracted to. I immediately sat down that to enjoy a high scoring side, free flowing football that mesmerized my bubbling heart. I'd watch delima Ronaldo display his skills and run on to the Sandy field at oshodi to display my skills with my age groups. Sadly I was 7 no one around me at that point like an age mate to discuss this with. All I did was yearn to listen to adults talk football. At Korea Japan I was in kings college Lagos then. I'd leave the class room to the house masters window to peep and watch the beautiful game. At that point I was a master of the game amongst my colleagues. Wider football knowledge and was barely matched in football and sports by any colleague. My academics performance dwindled, my mum was so worried she needed take drastic actions, hence, she would beat me if I played football let alone watch football. I struggled with this as I just loved the game. This really killed my intense interest in the game.

Thank you! I just hope that the NFF and Nigerians, in general, would be patient enough to give Gernot Rohr a chance to continue his project regardless of how we perform in Russia. I don't like all these unrealistic expectations and targets they seem to be setting for the team. Our team is good but not that good compared with the teams we'd be facing in Russia.

As I was telling someone here a few weeks ago, our 2014 team was even more talented and more experienced than the team we're taking to Russia. The only thing we have going for us this year is the organization and hopefully the technical acumen of our current technical crew.

Monreal over Alonso is a bizarre choice. Having said that their GK, DEF and MID look outstanding. All in all, not a lot of surprises here, but I am surprised they're left Marcos Alonso out. And to a lesser extent Bellerin and Fabregas as well.

Having said that, look at the players Spain, Germany and France can leave out compared to how we struggle to find 23 half decent players to fill out squad. Puts the Nigeria's Squad in perspective. Spain can afford to leave out Alonso, Fabregas, Bellerin, Morata etc. Let's hope that those airheads at the NFF can see that, as they go on with their ultimatums of semi finals and shis.

I mean, looking at the Brazilian, Spanish, German, French and Belgian teams shows just how far we are behind in terms of quality. Gernot Rohr deserves a compliment not an ultimatum!

Remember the Spanish coach, Lopetegui, is a tippy tappy footy ministry coach and if you compare Monreal and Marcos Alonso, you will notice that Monreal has a deeper level of education in the tippy tappy footy ministry than Alonso.

Following live or highlight shows?

The only station I watched the Champions League from in the mid 90s was AIT.

Even if some people were watching live EPL and other European league matches (except UCL) through Digital satellite they will not be up to 1% of our population.

You are not the whole Nigeria. I told you by 1996, Multichoice devices was rampant in a lot of homes in Port Harcourt. People in those houses were following Euro football. By 1997, people were hacking Multichoice devices and cable satellite free to Air devices were littered all over Port Harcourt.

So because you were watching AIT and highlights shows does not mean others were not watching.

I said earlier that I watched the FA Cup final between Liverpool and Manchester United live on a Multichoice device in my neighborhood. We were watching live games of George Weah. Watching live games of Ajax. This was in 1996. They were families like the bosses of NAFCON and some multinationals then who had the big satellite dishes. This was between 1990-1992 era. Many followed euro leagues long before the late 90's.

pinnick has done that already by given rohr a new 2 year deal. regardless of the teams performance rohr is on the right track and i foresee this team doing wonders in the next afcon if they qualify. rohr's positive input in this team is obvious by the way the team qualified in style from one of the toughest groups when no one gave them a chance. i must also commend pinnick and his crew for giving their immerse support to the coaching crew by creating an enabling environment for them to work. for once the interference of agents and God-fatherism which have bedeviled our national team for a long time is now a thing of the past. now players turning out good performances in their various clubs both in the local scene and Europe are given fair chances to prove themselves by inviting them by merit. now we have a coach who makes out to to visit our players in their various clubs to check how they are fairing and also intervene on their behalf when they aren't seeing much playing time.
