If you understand the mechanism on which rates are determined then you will be happy that rates are going down because it's good for our economy.

Does anyone know the performance of bond funds?
If we know maybe we could compare it with mmf, fixed income fund and equity funds to know if it's a better alternative

101 PLACES TO BORROW MONEY IN NIGERIA

One of the challenges of business men and
women, traders or investors is
FINANCE or CAPITAL.
No matter how little the capital you need to
start up may look at, if you dont have it or
cant get it, certainly you can not start
the business.
There are so many Ways a smart investor
can use to raise capital or finance
for their businesses, they are
1. Personal savings
2. Family and friends
3. Cooperative
4. Micro finance
5. Angel investors
6. Loan

1. Personal savings: This is usually the first
step, as an investor or a trader or an entreprenuer
you should have something in your account or a token
to start with, majority of business men and women
will need XYZ amount for their businesses and want
to raise all from loans or other sources, you need
#1m for your business and you want to raise all from
micro finance bank, commercial bank or finance houses
that is the beginning of failure, even micro finance
banks will surely request for equity contribution
which they see as your commitment to the process,
safe certain percentage of your income or salary.

2. Family and friends: this is another smart way
an investor can use to raise caiptal for his or
her business. The truth of the matter is that
"No one trust you better than or knows you
better than your friends". But sourcing capital
or finance for your business from family and
friends requires a lot of INTEGRITY.
You must good INTEGRITY or GOODWILL or REPUTATION
before them.
Also, in using this window or option, please note
Dont meet one person, spread your options. eg
If you need #500,000 capital, #50k from ten (10)
family and friends will give you #500k, dont focus
on one person because it may be too huge or big for
one person to give you #500k.

I will continue from next time.

You are not the only one who understands the mechanisms by which interest rates are determined...

I am considering this investment one Vintage dollar fund after enough stress to open a dorm... However, afraid is catching me grin because of the recent Naira and Renminbi currency swap deal between Central Bank of Nigeria and People's Bank of China. I do not what the future holds... No clear picture of how it may affect the NGN/USB exchange rate in the nearest future.
Positively for the naira.

Reserves will hit 50bn before the end of this quarter,

Oil seems to have found comfort above $70 now, and output levels are great.

Dangote refinery will have a positive effect of about $500m monthly both in forex savings and earnings.

In the short to medium term (say 5 years) the naira is more likely to exchange for the dollar at below 300 than at above 400. At least that's what I pray to God, and I know He'll answer.

Personally, I'd yet praise the efforts of these fund managers.
it's not so easy to keep yields above 364day T-bills yields which was 11.98% at the last PMA.

On bonds, I think their yields are currently mostly in the 12-13% range. There are however corporate bonds on the FMDQ OTC with yields currently in the 17-19% range. I'd like for you to enlighten us more about how we can trade bond instruments on the FMDQ'S OTC exchange.

This is the post I meant to quote in my previous post.

Ernie4life. How do we access the secondary market for corporate bonds. What's the threshold?
Do Individual members (Affiliates) have access to trade on the FMDQ floor?

MMF is money market fund while most dollar funds are invested into euro bonds.

I think the risk level for dollar funds are higher than our normal naira money market fund..

But to understand the risk better you need to know where the funds are invested into

Is it just me or StanbicIBTC Money Market services are getting more deplorable by the day. This is second time in a row online redemption took beyond 3 business days and it was credited after spending several annoying minutes talking to customer-care.

I’m no longer going to add to this account (Of course i go still dey monitor am closely; in the past months i have noticed some “funny” activities on it).

House, please give me recommendations for a new Money Market account; I am thinking between One Investment, FBN & EDC fixed Income Fund. Any other suggestion is also welcome.

Just checked-out out Axa Mansard, looks transparent and promising.

Can someone who is familiar with them, please provide clarification on their “Annual Management fee”. I haven’t noticed such with StanbicIBTC, I won’t be surprised if its a hidden charge.

If money market trends and interest rates obtainable in the market go south, 1.5% Annual Management fee can be alot oo.

I don't like to be rude, but: did you actually read any of the terms and conditions for sIMMFund?

It states clearly there that redemption is within 5 working days after WHICH you can then lay a complaint.

So why all these write ups about waiting 3days only?

Everything is working greatly on my account.
When I see a funny looking thing I call my account officer.. He clears it immediately.

I even transferred directly to the fund account last month and called him, he updated my account the next day.

I did online ATM card funding last week.. It went immediately and updated next day.

Stanbic MMF is very much OK.

I was actually waiting for this grin if you are a staff, please fix-up your services.

Thank God for your ability to read, oya come lets read it together. (See screenshot).

5 days is for Paper redemption, you can call their customer service to verify. If you are a staff, I am sure you know this already.

NB: Have a strong inbuilt bullshit detector. Never mistake an excuse with an explanation tongue

Bros, if you had been here long enough, you would know that Realityshot is only giving his appraisal a customer and not a staff.

Meanwhile the statement you highlighted in that snapshot doesn't say "online redemption gets processed within 3 days"
rather what it says is If you request to have access to online redemption, that request (to make your funds redeemable online) is processed within 3 days.

Meanwhile all my redemption requests have never exceeded 40hours.

I actually had to call their customer care to clarify, I still stand by my assertion “Paper redemption- 5 business days. Online redemption - 3 business days.”

If you seek clarification from them and they dispute this fact, I would rest my case with a proper apology, clear my money and look for somewhere with a promise of speedy & efficient service and also advise all my folks to do the same. I can still remember the name of the customer care staff that provided me with this information.

I have no vested interest apart from that of a customer, if something is not working right. It should voiced it out, so it can be fixed. When others are improving on their timelines, should they be any different tongue

I won’t lie, all was normal till my last two redemption. It was the unnecessarily long waiting time to lay my complaints to a customer care agent that even ticked me off angry

I am in my right to come here to rant about it, hoping they would see it and improve. Customer is King grin

Oga 13% is good o! Do you have an idea what some people have suffered in the stock market? -25% to -50% is not too strange...if you can avearge 8% profit on the stock market, you are seen as a mini god. I hate to think I am investing my money with a company that is not customer centric though...so maybe they might have some work to do there.

Back to you, you have a lot of work to do also...you have invested money...now you need to know what your money is doing and from your statement above, you are doing badly at that. Ernie rings that in regualary here...infact i think another name for KGIF is MPR grin

Going forward, send them a nice email about the challenges you have with their requirements, they might be able to offer you a way out of the wahala. Hard copies of E-dividends seems too old skool though.

What does MPR mean?

I will try to keep is simple,

Bid price is the price a buyer is willing to pay for a product or fund

while offer price is the price the seller is willing to sell at.

Bid price is always lower than the offer price of the same commodity/fund and the difference is often called the spread.
