MetalJigsaw:
Nigerian Can Only Beat Croatia With Counter Attack – Coach

Tomislav Obradovic, the coach of Croatia national team, has revealed that the only way the Super Eagles could defeat his team when both sides meet at the 2018 World Cup in Russia would be through counter attacks, boasting that there is no way Nigeria could overcome them.

Both Nigeria and Croatia will go head-to-head at the Kaliningrad Stadium, Kaliningrad on June 16, 2018 and the coach is optimistic that they would see off Nigeria, saying that in the Super Eagles, there are several players in the team with the same characteristics.

Obradovic was coach of the Rwandan U-20 National Team for two and a half years, and he almost qualified the country for the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Asked to compare Nigeria’s offensive players Iwobi and Chelsea’s Victor Moses, Obradovic told Sportske Novosti: “Compare all of them with their characteristics? Everyone is similar and quick, good within a group. But where are the world-class players?

“It’s probably quite enough, but as a team I do not think they have world-class quality. Why do I say that? They have too many players with the same characteristics.

“They cannot beat Croatia. Not in one segment of the game. Neither technical, tactical, nor organisational, nor in any sense.”

Tomislav Obradovic warned the Croatian team that Nigeria’s counter attack could be dangerous because they have fast players.
“The only way they can outsmart us is if they threaten us from the counterattack because they have such players, quick, fast.
“We have to hold the ball, wait and play our organised football because we are better, disciplined, stronger on the ball, better one on one,” Obradovic boasted.

Why are people surprised by Partey's aggression?? My guy is Ghanaian and would obviously play like his depended on it. Our rivalry with those bredas no be here.

Folks should go and watch Nigeria-Ghana friendly match of 2007 in London and our meetings with them in 2006, 2008 and 2010 AFCON.

Nothing like friendly when Ghanaians play against Nigeria

I still don't surport Salisu taking Alhassan off before HT. Yes he was jittery because this was his first match back at the stadium after his move but I am sure if he got the chance that Ashadi had he would have buried it and we are talking about a completely different game right now.

I did naa.... I called them Salisu's Super Eagles Team B.... cheesy ... Honestly he deserves some accolades... Well done Salisu...

Tonight's game has highlighted the need for us to organize friendlies for these young talents. We may not get a better opportunity to assess them than this.

We have raised these suggestions here overly.

It is a fat lie that J J had an uninspiring career.

Even the great Ronaldinho acknowledged he got inspiration from JJ let alone other Nigerian players.

Like Okocha or not he remains one of Africa's greatest.

bruv the peak of his career came at Bolton ffs.

compare JayJay to his mates like Finidi, Kanu, Oliseh, Ikpeba etc and you'll notice that he never even played at clubs at the same level these guys at their peak.

Do I need to remind Dudes that Salisu Yusuf is in Charge of U23 Team?! Bar 2 or 3 Players, majority of the Players that played Today's Match gonna made up the U23 Team.

Note taken. Undoubtedly they are better than the B team, but for a set of people who barely trained with each other prior to today, and another team that largely picked itself, it is noteworthy to highlight that at times the A team lacked cohesion. Yes. I said it, and I'm not going to recant because I know what I've seen.
The A team lacked cohesion because the midfield in both games was unbalanced. I don't know how long you've been following this thread but a few of us have been harping about having an additional creative midfielder on the team. Rohr didn't start Iwobi as a 10 and even played a midfield 3 of Onazi - Ndidi - Obi which didn't work out at all. We would've been saying something different if we had Mikel playing or Rohr played Iwobi as a 10 in both games.

In the NPFL he probably would have only gotten a yellow card. Friendly or not that foo should have been sent off.

Yeah. You just said my mind.

He is gradually building his U23 team. I also expect Taiwo Awoniyi, Victor Osimhen, Musa Yahaya, and Sadiq Umar to join in the party. Henry Onyekuru and Samuel Kalu are also eligible. Not to also forget Chidozie Awaziem and Francis Uzoho.

Exactly what I said when Ashadi missed that. I was so mad. Yes, Alhassan Muazzam was jittery and falling all over the place but he woud have buried that chance. His finishing has never been an issue.

I think this was a clear statement of the importance of utilizing the Team B to explore our potential Super Eagles Players. Well packaged program and I think I see the NFF achieving more with this program.

A big shout out to Salisu Yusuf. As one of his vocal critics, I can attest he set up the team in a fluid fashion and I found the ball play of the team delightful.

Kelechi Nwakali deserves special mention because he owned that midfield today. I hope Unai Emery watched the game, being a former Atletico Madrid manager. I hope he gives the young man the chance to grow at Arsenal. At least give him a run during the preseason.

Chidiebere Nwakali was also impressive and showed versatility. That Utin who came in during the second half to play as a left back is a dynamite. So comfortable running down the flanks and creating space for the team to exploit.

Fine step in the right direction.

I was surprised when I heard he was subbed before HT. Unless he was a 1/10, he should've been left on till at least 60 mins

You cant say this with so much certainty. The South African team that embarrassed us in the same stadium are not in the level of the Gameros,Torres, Gabi, Oblak,Corea, Thomas, Vitolo et all. Also, most of the players on parade for Athletico will walk into the Serbia team that ran rings round us in London.
Just say you were pleasantly surprised.
