Sunshine Stars' Star Midfielder, Dayo Ojo on the game against Atletico

"It wasn't a bad game for us considering the fact that we only trained together twice,
"You can't use such short preparation to play against one of the best team in the world and expect to win but I think generally we did well.
"I believe that we have a very good account of ourselves against one of the best club in Europe. They are a very good side I must confess and really gave us a tough time.
"Honestly, It was a wonderful opportunity for me and I'm very proud to be part of such a big game like this because I've gained more experience and also had great moments."

Kelechi Nwakali and Usman Mohammed are good enough for Super Eagles - Tijani Babaginda
By Samuel Ahmadu

Following their superb goals against Atletico Madrid, the former Super Eagles winger feels the duo deserve a chance in Gernot Rohr's side

Former Nigeria winger, Tijani Babaginda considers Kelechi Nwakali and Usman Mohammed ripe for the senior team following their brilliant displays against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

Top quality goals from Nwakali and Mohammed lit up what was, in the end, a 3-2 loss to Diego Simeone's side at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium,

And the Atlanta 96 Olympic gold medalist who lauded the duo is, however, confident they would be considered in the future by Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr.

"[Nigeria] boys did very well and made us proud against Atletico Madrid," Babaginda told Goal.
"Few players in the team showed the [Gernot Rohr] that they are as good and mature enough as those in the main team.
"They will be giving the coach a lot of headaches but the good thing is that the coach may have penciled down the names of some of them for his future plans.
"I think [Kelechi] Nwakali and [Usman] Mohammed did very well. I believe they also merit being part of the team preparation for Russia and should possibly play in some of the friendlies.
"For both players to score those kinds of goals, they deserved some accolades and to be rewarded too. The good thing is that few players have been noticed by the coach

"So for sure, they will be in his future plan and whenever their names pump up, he will definitely not think twice before giving them a chance to showcase their talents."

Breaking: New Brighton Signing Balogun & Ighalo Join Super Eagles In Uyo

Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that former Watford star Odion Ighalo and Brighton & Hove new signing Leon Balogun are set to participate in the Super Eagles next training session ahead of their friendly with Democratic Republic of Congo.
Ighalo and Balogun flew together to Uyo this morning from Lagos and are expected to arrive at the Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort any moment from now.
While the Changchun Yatai striker is in tip-top condition, the former Mainz defender is lacking match fitness but the good news is that he passed a traditional medical prior to his unveiling by The Seagulls on Tuesday.

Oghenekaro Etebo, who was one of the last players to join the team on Tuesday evening, took part in full training this morning, amid concerns that he is struggling with a muscle injury.

Brian Idowu, Shehu Abdullahi, John Obi Mikel, John Ogu, Victor Moses, Mikel Agu, Uche Agbo, Moses Simon, Simeon Nwankwo, Joel Obi and Ahmed Musa were still being awaited as at the time of this report.

The Super Eagles trained for approximately one hour and forty minutes in their first workout on Wednesday, May 23.

The way you guys selectively use stats in this forum is, sometimes, really ridiculous angry sad shocked

Now, let me turn that same question around to you: How many EPL clubs were in the last 16 of the Champions league last year and how many Bundesliga clubs? What about two years ago?? And three years ago nko

And while at it, please do tell us how many EPL teams started the UCL in each of those years vis-à-vis Bundesliga. That would help us understand, percentagewise, how each league did.

Please let's take it easy with all these deceptive selective use of data.

The Bundesliga is a literary a one club league where Bayern Munich win everything. True or false.

UEFA rate the EPL the second best in Europe and the Bundesliga fourth, FACT.

How many EPL clubs were in the last 16 of the Champions league and how many Bundesliga clubs

These are the facts stop being emotive and sentimental in the negative against the EPL. The facts are there for all to see.

Well, not necessarily. Frankly, I am surprise that some of you guys really didn't see the quality of Samadi and the Nwakali brothers. I don't know the names of all the players, but those 3 guys played well yesterday and showed flashes of brilliance. It's time we stop basing the opinions of our players SOLELY on the basis of how they perform in Europe. Some of our players found themselves in bad situations where they at are not given opportunities to perform.

Kelechi Iheanacho has shown us all what can happen when our boys are given a chance to show their stuff. When some of us were screaming our heads off that Kelechi was unfairly being blacklisted at Leicester City in favor of lesser talents like Demary Gray, Albrighton, and Shanji Ozizaki, some folks accused us of crying wolf. Well, wind don blow on that issue and we don see chicken nyash. Now we all know that chicken dey get nyash grin

LaLiga was in view in the comparison. Anyway, I retract my statement. Rohr deemed him good enough, and should any of Lokosa, Simmy, or Ighalo get injured, he’ll be the first to get a phone call.

forgiveness:

I thought two faced double standard fellows claimed he only made MOTM. grin

Now, na Rohr deemed him not enough. grin

How good do you want a player that made player of the month instantly with the likes of Taison and Fred in contention?

They are even going to the world Cup? grin

Now, Which chance did Rohr give?

It is well Safari dear. I understand you. Honestly, if it were possible to control being misunderstood by others even after we've done our best to clear the air... we all would utilise that power. No matter how careful we are with words most times or daily, just one innocent hint of ambiguity in a comment can turn the tables.

Safari, there will always be people who will misunderstand us in one way or the other or for one thing or the other. We just have to live above what they think of us and understand that before we took notice of their misunderstanding of us, we were doing just fine... so we will still do fine without it. wink

So it is well okay. Try not to ever allow someone's misunderstanding of you get to you so much... I know it can hurt especially when it is on some other scale... because we don't want to be misunderstood too by the right people.. but then this is where we come in. Our sincere but simple innocent efforts to just try communicate better. Sometimes we are just one word away from communicating better but when you don't type that one word... misunderstanding could crop up.

But in all.. just bear with the negative side of being misunderstood even when you know there was no true reason for it or even after air has been cleared. As humans, we cannot taste bread and butter to everyone.

Even the sun that shines and is perceived as good to the plants is also misconstrued and perceived as harsh on the clay ground. lol... Just live above these..... it is well. wink

I won’t lie, what impressed me most about “team c” is their passes. They stringed good passes and showed understanding on the pitch. We can’t take that away from them. We don’t expect anything less from our Team A.

Modified
Nigerian teams must learn to make their opponents sweat to score.

Mujtahida:

This Kayode's exclusion from the team pains him to the bones. It's obvious Rohr doesn't fancy those two players you mentioned. I think they are the ones he referred to as headless chickens.
One's support should be to the team. This wailing is really annoying and exhausting. I'm even beginning to have a kind of perverse delight that Kayode wasn't taken. Not because I don't like him(I'm actually indifferent towards the guy) but because of this omega status he seems to have as in like the team should be Kayode and if there's no Kayode then no team. I find such very disturbing.

Coach has made his choice. 90% pass mark. Let's support out team. This wailing is becoming petty and irritating to say the least.

I am tempted to say his persistent rants is probably the reason Kayode got dropped from the squad. Its not impossible. For instance, how are we sure that those close to the national team are not on this thread? What if Gernot Rohr himself is just an unregistered observer on this thread? There is no way to monitor who is viewing this thread if all we look out for is just the names of monikers online only.

Sentiments apart, I love Kayode. But it looks like frustration has already set in to his game. I recall when Forgiveness used his hand to type that even if Kayode scores1000 goals, he wont be at the world cup. And true to his words, he wont be. Question is when he knew all these, why is he still ranting? Why is he acting like he is shocked and disappointed?
If the bible says the expectation of the "righteous" ( and trust me, he and Komekn are very righteous) shall not be cut off, why the petulance? The things we say or think are very weighty. They reveal who we are. I am so sure the stakeholders are here on this thread. You may just not know.

So if you are an agent and you want to market your player, learn from these folks how not to go about player hyping or coercion down the throats of authorities...... My opinion.

Disclaimer: I dont hold any brief for Rohr or NFF or the coaching crew of the Super Eagles. The views above are strictly my opinions. You dont like it, then I am sorry you dont. You should open a bottle of Green Sands Shandy and take wash it down.

Argentina Coach Sampaoli Calls Up Guzman To Replace Injured Romero

Argentina head coach, Jorge Sampaoli, has called up Tigres UANL goalkeeper, Nahuel Guzman to his squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia according to a tweet from the official handle of the Argentine FA.

The 32-year-old Guzman who has won six caps for Argentina replaces Sergio Romero who was ruled out of the tournament due to a knee injury.
Chelsea’s Willy Caballero and River Plate’s Franco Armani are the other goalkeeper in Jorge Sampaoli’s squad.
Meanwhile, Lionel Messi has arrived the Argentina pre-World Cup training camp in Buenos Aires.
The Barcelona star led the Catalan giants to a domestic double last season scoring 34 LaLiga goals which earned him a record fifth European Golden Shoe.

Argentina face Iceland, Croatia and Nigeria in Group D of 2018 FIFA World Cup, hoping to go one step further than their loss to Germany in the 2014 final.

Trust me I didn’t take her post personal. But I asked a salient question, and this is not directed to her. It’s directed to every black, esp Nigerians. If someone JOKED that some dark girl has seen another girl (a fair skinned girl) she is better than, would it seem out of place? Pause to ponder, then u will know where I’m coming from. There are many things we believe as a people that need to be changed.
The other day my mother-in-law was pressing my baby’s nose as if to make it pointed. I had to question it.

Coach Salisu Yusuf has disclosed he has already begun building a new Nigeria U23 team with Tuesday night’s friendly between the Super Eagles ‘B’ team and Atletico Madrid.

Several of the players who lined up for the Eagles B team like Ebube Duru, Samad Kadiri, Alhassan Ibrahim, Ikouwem Udoh, Chinedu Ajanah and Kelechi Nwakali are under 23.

“The work to build a new U23 team has already begun and that was why a good number of the players were within that age bracket,” said Salisu Yusuf, who is also an assistant to Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr and as well in charge of the CHAN Eagles.

“We will continue to build on the team as the opportunity comes.”

Salisu Yusuf’s assistant Imama Amapakabo said even though the second-string Eagles team lost 3-2 to a decent Atletico Madrid side, they have gained confidence with what they showed against one of the best clubs in Europe.

“The young boys have gained confidence,” he told SCORENigeria
“We have promising players and with what they showed (vs Atletico), the future is bright.
“It was an exciting game, the spectators got their money’s worth.”

For more than a week fa. That means from now till the WC we are going to be in for this continous droning cry about the exclusion of Kayode. Then I guess we have to steel ourselves for the ordeal.
