Since one of our formations involve 3 CBs. I think, he will take 4 unless one of the other player prove undroppable in training.
Thats what I'm hinging on. The uncertainty of that stubborn player.

Any of those last 4guys will have to slug it out anyways. The rest are good to go.

What's is truth in the context of football.

Your approach is wrong, there is mostly opinion garnished with facts but opinion is what is the overriding component.

In football there will be huge differences in opinion, you should respect other opinions. This childish calling people derogatory names, tribalist and troll is uncalled for on this forum.

Leave that boy alone. His tactics is dead on arrival.

If you ask him to give explaination for calling people derogatory names, he wouldn't be able to give a cogent and reasonable explaination. Na because e dey mention Yoruba players full em head. Pathetic grin

With that 3-5-2 in mind going to the mundial... I kinda think we do.

Dunno then. Means outrightly both Aina and Elderson have to just go cos of this 4cbs? I don't think so!

It's possible, but I'm sure one of those guys would give good account in camp.

Trust me, create that extra space for Papi Rohr to shock us before he does....

We don't need 4 CBs actually.

Rohr will definitely try the 3-5-2 in one of our group games.. that's where having 4 CBs will be necessary.. 4 FBs too will b necessary..

Training Report : Iwobi Shines In Eagles Training , Uzoho Top Goalkeeper In Shooting Drills

The Super Eagles of Nigeria had their first training session as a group today in preparation for their upcoming pre World Cup friendly game against Congo DR in Port Hacourt.
Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent was at the session which had four goalkeepers and 12 outfield players in attendance and lasted close to two hours at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi showed his abilities during a close game among the players with his vision and ability to get out of tight spaces very much the hallmark of his performance.

The goalkeepers were not left out of the session with coach Enrico Pionetti taking them on shooting exercise after some drills to help them warm up properly for the exercise.

Deportivo La Coruna B goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho impressed the most with his reflexes particularly when it comes to parry shots away, while Ezenwa appears a bit slow in reacting after making a punched save.

Daniel Akpeyi was also not far off in making saves off efforts and from our counts made the second highest save after Uzoho who stopped more efforts during the drills.

I strongly believe that we won't be worried about Aina being dropped for Echijele if he (Aina) had done better in the games he has played.. Ebuehi made his debit after Aina and has played fewer minutes but he has already shown us what he can offer..even Idowu managed to score on his debut, thus giving Rohr the impression that he got something good to offer too.. but Aina is yet to make an impact that place him in competition with Echijele... As bad as Echijele might be,he might be selected based on his experience.. its left to Aina to grab the opportunity in the next two friendlies...

More Camp reports

From the first training session held, Ebuehi trained with the rest of the team.

Meanwhile, Ndidi trained alone. His recuperation continues.

Lol... not really because of the Four CBs.

Look at the fullback positions too... we have five fullbacks: Shehu, Ebuehi, Aina, Idowu, Echiejile.

I believe only four will make it.

Yeah, I'm aware of the formation already. But taking 8defrnders is just excess to me.... 15 spots for the remaining 3sections of the complete team.

Unless the sacrificial lamb is from the goalkeeping department, then I don't really that 8all going.

Haba now. More like

GK-3 at most or 2 if 1is sacrificed

Df-7, or 8, as your stance is

Mid-6. This is the least for the middle.

Attack-7, less 1

That's how I'm seeing this.

To me, Ebuehi and Brian are untouchables. Aina must be really stubborn in camp and these friendlies to stand a chance. Not offered much to impress.

One will drop from the left back position. Aina, Idowu and Echiejile are in contention there.

Shehu and Ebuehi are for the right back position.

First of all, as per FIFA rule, all teams must present a squad with three goalkeepers,no more,no less..
Most teams will actually be going with more defenders than midfielders unless some forwards are listed as midfielders...
Going with 8 defenders isn't a problem at all especially given the fact that all our fullbacks are versatile..
as for the midfield, I think we have seen enough of that already.. it's clear that majority of our midfielders out there are DMF.. no need to add an extra dmf.. should Joel obi make the list, then it will be 6 midfielder and 6 forwards...

sentiment apart kelechi nwakali flopped in venlo before dropping to the dutch 2nd division where he had a decent season. notwithstanding he is still young and still have a lot to learn but his talent is obvious. kayode making the team of the month once during his stint with girona will not shadow the fact that he flopped big time in the league. a striker who couldnt score a goal from last summer when he joined girona till the winter transfer window before he joined schaktar donestk has no place in the current eagles set up.his resurgence in ukraine was too late for him to be included and rohr who have monitored him severally knows what he wants in a striker which i doubt kayode possesses. no doubt kayode is a good player but he really need to make good statement for him to deserve a place in rohr's team. kelechi nwakali from what i saw in his came yesterday is a work in progress but should not be rushed so that much expectation wont weigh him down. i advice he should be in the team after the world and serve as an understudy to aging john obi mikel.

You're not being fair with Kayode, how many games and time did he play with Girona and how come he's done well since he went to Shaktar? know that the latter is way better than the former.. BTW, which position did he play at Girona?

Not saying he should be at Russia but to say he flopped is untrue.

A flop is a player given enough play time and used in the right position, yet consistently performs woefully. Can you relate this to Kayode?

A player of the week is actually an achievement in the football world.
andrew444:

So player of the month is an achievement? lol

You want to compare taison and fred performance with kayode? Lolss

So because they are going to the world cup means kayode should also be there

Funniest thing i have read today, thank God nairaland is not reality.

Post the link where kayode won shaktar player of the month?

Plain truth! Kayode wasn't dropped based on performance, he was dropped based on preference.
Anyone who think otherwise is dishonest.
EOD.

BascoVanVeli:

Let me give you the cold face truth. Rohr doesn't fancy Kayode just like he doesn't fancy Henry. At the end of the day we have to respect the decision. I can tell you that before the olympics and especially CHAN I was pissed off at our coaches no be small but I had to quickly get myself together and support the teams selected.

I liked every single one of Kayode's performances at Girona but the coach already had an 11 that he trusted and the goals just didn't want to come.

Yes... Or two sef... The possibility of going with just three fullbacks is there as they would be versatile too and can cover for one another. But again I see Rohr going with 4 FBs and then also Four CBs.

He invited 10 defenders.. And I see him dropping two. But hey... Like I said, He may shock me and drop three and we go with 7. But until then. wink

So being a player of the week just once change a player from being a flop? Clap for your self

The same forgiveness called nwakali a flop for only scoring 4 goals all season and he his a midfielder, but the same kayode scored 4 goals all season and he is not a flop, player of the week look like a trophy in your eyes.

And he repeated the feat by being on the team of the month in Ukraine within few weeks of moving there. meaning if he had more playing time in Girona + being played at the right position, he would have done well too.

Ignore sentiments. Not saying he should be in Russia, that is left to the coach which has already phased him out but the truth remain what is it. the truth.

You can push it to him yourself, i only corrected a notion from your comment. That he didn't bench the other guy can only be answered by the coach as we can all see that he's actually good after proving that in Shaktar.
