Guy, it leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I work @ a multi-national. Colleagues who are friends, were downsized. Folks BPs were at an all-time high. Niggas cried. Senior managers who handed out letters, also got letters. It was a blood-bath. ''Eni ori yo, o di 'le''.Sourcing for raw materials using expensive dollars was crazy, we couldn't manufacture, consumers can't afford the higher prices. Those who ask for war, or other evils, have never experienced one. Seeing friends suffer with their families was not nice. These are guys who got payoffs, & also own their own homes. Imagine those who don't even have those.Sometimes, when you are relatively well-paid for so long, you find it hard to survive after the job loss, even if you think you're well-prepared. Now, I don't ever pray for anyone to suffer a job loss, not even my enemy. I pray 9ja doesn't break-up, the economic implications on the average folks will be crazy.

You get my point. During the last recession, i had enough. But i was constantly pained when i see loved ones and neighbours suffering.

Lets make money without asking for doom.

2019 elections: Capital market executives caution retail investors ON MAY 25, 20185:38 AMIN BUSINESS1 COMMENT By Peter Egwuatu

AS bearish sentiment persists in the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, public and private sector executives in the capital market have indicated the need for discretion in investment decisions especially by retail investors.
The floor of Stock exchange Speaking against the backdrop of declining foreign investors’ interest in equities in the first quarter of 2018, Q1’18, Cowry Asset Management Limited has cautioned retail investors to be very careful in their investment decisions, especially in the build up to 2019 general elections. Chief Executive Officer, Cowry Asset Management, Mr. Johnson Chukwu, gave the advice as the guest speaker at the maiden national discourse, themed, “Portfolio Investments: Opportunities & Mounting Challenges for Nigerian Shareholders”, organized by Pragmatic Shareholders Association of Nigeria, PSAN, in Lagos.

He said the decline witnessed in Q1’18 was as a result of the shift from equities to fixed income securities by Foreign Portfolio Investors, FPIs, who have started exiting the market following the unstable macroeconomic environment
. Chukwu stated: “The FPIs had taken their position in 2017 in the equities market and that was why we saw the 42% appreciation of the market, but in the Q1’18, FPIs invested $701.61 million in equity, $335.88 million in Bonds, $3.527 billion in money market, while total capital imports stood at $6.303 billion. “So the equity market was sluggish in Q1’18 as foreign investors began to repatriate their dividend and also put demand pressure in the foreign exchange market in response to declining yield on government securities.”

To this extent, Chukwu cautioned domestic retail investors to be careful in their investment decision on equities as the market is likely to record continuous drop given the challenging macroeconomic environment in the build up to general election.
In his remark, Acting Director General, Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, Ms Mary Uduk, who was represented by Mr. Effiong Ekpeyong, encouraged retail investors to embrace the Collective Investment Scheme, CIS, to diversify their investments. “Nigeria is a mono product economy as this has made the stock market very volatile. To this extent, retail investors need to spread their demand for stocks in various classes by patronizing mutual funds,” she noted.

I'm just an afolabi with tasere units. Not even close to 5m.

But seriously, Nigeria belongs to us. If it breaks down, do you know what will happen to us? Ot do you think you are immune from its effects because you are making money here?

We have to soft pedal on our unpatriotic comments. I love Nigeria. I want the progress of it's economy. I won't wish it bad because i want to make money on NSE.

Remember we were in a bad recession before the low stock prices surfaced before. You know how many died or lost jobs?

Anyway, Gracias
thank u my brother, tell them make them hear. even how many jobs could have been created with that milost fund they chased away.

As we follow this forum, many monitoring agent will be following us ( at a time like this, you will start seeing new monikers, they are not new but defenders and agents), I believed in truth, and truth must be told. If after all this our warning you still want some people to confuse you in buying more to average down. You are on your own, stock is still going down the more.

Why should they cry sir?

Before you joined the company, you lived. Now that they have been laid off, they will still live.

I always advise people never to rely on the firm they work for. Save up, reduce expenses, invest wisely because a day will come when they will tell you to go.

Those who got pay off and also have their own houses, yet they feel the pinch shows that are not prepared.

From day 1, your target should not elude you. Save and spend less.

We are saying the same thing.
At #155 , economy was stabilize then, they reduce and look elsewhere, but at # 400, when exchanging dollar to naira the will buy more, remember that it was moving from #400, to #450, to #500 up to #600. They were still trooping in, but now the reverse is the case, from 600 to, 450, to 400, to #300+ and will still get to #200 +, with possibility of seen 100+, if crude oil continue improving.

If they did not take their gain with current dollar exchange to come back later, when will they take it.

To Nigerians, it a good thing, but to them bad.

Which theory be this?
