People should be careful in asking question pertaining to how embassy confirms bank statement or how do I get a job in Canada to sustain myself etc. They are the people creating problems for genuine Nigerians who want to study. Mind you. This is an open forum which is open to the embassy staff too. Why do you think embassies recruit some Nigerians to work with them as visa assistants? They recruit them specifically to scout for information on the tricks used by Nigerians in securing visa and they can read posts on this forum and give their paymaster, embassies some of the implicating posts some people post here. This informs why the embassy will look at a bank statement a conclude that the statement is forged whereas it is actually genuine. This also is the reason why the embassies don't believe in million we display in our accounts and with that people get refused whereas in other climes even Oman, people buy flight ticket before applying because of the assurance that the visa will be approved. You told the embassy that you have enough find but in actual sense, you don't have with the hope to go and hussle in Canada and pathetically, these individual won't go to school and they begin looking for money by all means including stealing and yahoo yahoo. These is the fear and concern in issuing Nigerians visas because they know who we are. 8 Likes |

Please is it advisable for your sponsor to use a University letter head paper to write a sponsorship letter for you, as my elder brother who is a professor in one of the leading University in USA is my sponsor, hope it not a red flag, as CIC might say why didn’t I apply to his University were he is lecturing in the US. |

MeinKampf: Nice! I graduated in December 2016. How's your plan to study in Canada coming along? |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Lemia(m): 1:39pm On May 28, 2018 |
MeinKampf: I'll advise you to reprint the whole SOA. Even though it seems like practically the same thing to just add an extra one month which makes it appear like you just continued form where it stopped before, there will be a lot of discrepancies which the VO can detect and assume that you forged your SOA. This will count as misrepresentation and you may be subject to a ban. An example of such discrepancy will be the value of opening balance, closing balance, total inflow and total outflow. The transactions during the extra month you print separately will not be added to the total Inflow and out flow. similarly, the closing balance at the last page of the SOA would now be different from the one on the first page. Please save yourself all the headaches and reprint your full SOA. 3 Likes |

Lemia: Humm. The truth is we have no idea of what the VOs are constantly looking forward to except we have people who can share their experience. In my own case, I initially printed Oct - Feb bank statements. The idea was to provide 6 months bank statements but I erroneously excluded Sept when I informed my bank to print the statements. So, I printed just September and October in addition to the five months statements (oct - feb) in case they wanted to tie my balance to October Statements. The printings were done from two different branches. (Ibadan and Lagos) to be precise. Also, my sponsor account was printed to the months of Jan - Feb as the hard copy provided to me dated 31 December. (Canada Bank Statements though) and I didn't have any issue with my POF. 1 Like |

Please must my sponsor be a family member? Someone that doesn't bear the same Surname with me |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Bodmillz: 5:17pm On May 28, 2018 |
MeinKampf: Probably. I got admitted into MEng Electrical and Computer Engineering there, already applied for my study permit. However, I have a pending application at University of Toronto. If they turn up, I won’t say no to them. |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Twallace: 5:59pm On May 28, 2018 |
Gewezzy1: Family members are considered more genuine sponsor. However, your sponsor can be anyone. Just make sure you explain why the third party choose to sponsor you and his overall interest in your education. A third party sponsor will need to show commitment by paying upfront your one year tuition and living expenses. |

emeify: Thanks a million for your response.I appreciate you greatly. Please, could you be more detailed about "refusal being due to Purpose of Visit"?This will help me a great deal. I actually applied for MEng in Chemical Engineering which is just a year course based Masters.Already have a MSc in Petroleum Engineering from the UK as far back as 2009 and been working for over 8 years now as a Project Engineer - Process/Chemical. I have a dream of becoming a lecturer someday and could have applied for MSc directly instead of MEng but for no response from the Professors. Anyways, the plan is to get the MEng admission, mingle with and prove my research capability to the Professors through my MEng results and apply for the MSc thereafter hopefully with funding.I can then move into PhD program after which I will apply for a lecturer position anywhere in the world including Nigeria. On the other hand, the MEng would be useful for my current job in the sense that it will increase my chances of getting promoted at work or even getting a job in more reputable multinational companies. ALTHOUGH, I AM NOT SURE IF THIS REASON WOULD GET A POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM THE VO. Your advise will be greatly appreciated. |
