In Chimamanda Adichie's words during a function in Anambra...."Anambra has a very elegant and classy dialect"

In one of my favorite Osita Osadebe's words...."Onye nwelu okpa kpoo okpa ya okpa nkpokolo agbatobi ewelia kpoo ntu" ,if you do not respect and represent Omanbala and always show us in a good light and always leave good impression on people nobody will respect us, nobody will hold us in high esteem. We must change the way we see ourselves

OMANBALA1:

Nwanne, welu-kwonu nwayor maka ngala ka eji agbalu efu oso. We will gradually and steadily keep educating our people who are ignorant of the Anambra structure and pattern of migration. Orumba people like Amaokpala, Awgbu and Oko has migrations from Awka area thats why they speak a bit like Nkanu-ish.

Also, during the Aro confederacy era alot of clans in Anambra merchants also travelled to Aro for trade and stayed there till the fall of the confederacy. Some of these people returned after the defeat of the confederacy by the Brits and brought back some characters they learned in their sojourn. Nnewi ,Ihiala and Orumba has alot of Aro connection but they practice the almighty NZE NA OZO of Anambra people. Umuoji had some people who migrated to Aro and founded Amorka village. About a decade ago they return to pay homage to Ndi Umuoji and asked for a land.

A lot of communities in Orlu were migrants from Anambra.
Woww, thanks for the education, I learnt some things from your write-up, thanks once again

Anyone that tells you Igbo history pre 1980s and says Anambra isn't telling you anything. Igbo migrantion radiated outwards from Orlu-ihiala zone, so how can people from Orlu also be migrants from Awka?

He and Chino have made the Igbo state threads on Nairaland a nightmare for Igbo discourse. I've agreed with them in the past about their IPOB stance, cos I disliked the IPOB agitation, but they've turned it to a relentless assault on other Igbo groups. It's embarrassing for an outsider to witness.

Don't come here and make unsubstantiated claims you have nothing to back it up with. Orlu has no history nor tradition to be the origin of Igbo. I really don't want this thread to turn into Anambra vs whoever. You can open a thread in the culture section and I will join you there.

Anambra Govt Commences Interventions On Water Projects

WRITTEN BY KENECHUKWU OFOMAH
The State Government has commenced the release of funds for the revamping of various water schemes across the State.

Governor Willie Obiano disclosed this when he inspected work on some water schemes in Awka South Local Government Area.

Among the water schemes visited by the Governor were those at Amawbia and Nibo Communities.

The Amawbia water scheme which was done by the previous administration but was abandoned since 2013, has seven communities as its target beneficiaries.

During the visit, it was observed that the pumping machines and boreholes have been reactivated, with three communities, Amawbia, Nawfia and some parts of Awka expected to have Water.

Speaking after the inspection exercise, Governor Obiano explained that the visit was to see what has been done with the funds he has released so far.

He expressed satisfaction with what he saw on ground, adding that when completed, it is expected that the seven communities will have constant water supply.

The Governor assured that his administration is committed to revamping all the existing water schemes across the state to provide access to portable water to all Ndi Anambra.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Power and Domestic Water Development, Mr Obi Nwankwo explained that the projects did not work because no structure was put in place to ensure their sustainability.

He said what the present administration wants to do differently is to hand over the projects to committees set up by the communities to oversee the maintenance.

According to him, under this arrangement, the projects will provide water free of charge to the communities and sell to tanker operators to raise money for its maintenance

29 MAY 2018

WRITTEN BY NGOZI OBILERI
Governor Willie Obiano has renewed his call on Ndi Anambra to bring home part of their wealth for the overall development of the State.

He made the call at Mater Dei Secondary School Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government area during the handover of a school hostel built by a philanthropist, Mr Anselem Ilekuba.

Governor Obiano represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Primus Odili said the gesture was a clear indication that Ndi Anambra are harkening to his Akuluo Uno call, urging other affluent citizens to toe the part of the beneficiary Mr Anselem Ilekuba, who he said has contributed his quota to the growth of education in the state.

Governor Obiano, who regretted that Nigerians lack maintenance culture, charged teachers and students of the school to take proper care of the facility so that future generation will benefit from it.

Also speaking, the benefactor Mr Juliana Ilekuba, said the move was to immortalize his late father, Mr Ignatius Ilekuba, who was the pioneer vice chairman that managed the school and for his interest in the development of education in the area.

The Mother of the donor, Mrs Juliana Ilekuba and his elder brother Mr Uche Ilekuba said that the family decided to uphold their father’s legacies praying God to grant him eternal rest.

The Manager of the school Reverend Father Gabriel Ugwunwangwu said the one hundred bed capacity hostel will go a long way in creating a more conducive atmosphere for learning as most of the children will no longer trek long distance to and from the school.

Earlier in a homily during a holy mass to mark the ceremony, a visiting priest Reverend Father Hyginus Nwandu, who spoke on the mysteries of the Trinity, called on Christians to learn how to love and make sacrifices as preached and demonstrated by Christ.

Highpoints on the event were commissioning of the hostel by Governor Obiano, and cultural dances by the students.
