Let's be honest, Real Madrid can win and have always won without CR7 (this last UCL semi finals and the finals proved that; plus the Euro cup finals). Can either Barca or Argentina win without Leo Messi? Please be sincere in your answer grin

O pari

Wowu, So The matches Barcelona lost in the past with Messi playing with them was lost in the spiritual realm? Or the Friendly Argentina won against Italy recently and the previous World Cup glory days were championed with Messi?

Na you talk say he "Messi needs support" na na you still talk say "Messi is the Greatest"

Argentina will do well only when Messi retires, e go be like film.

I haven’t judged the man but I’ve only questioned the process. People will ask questions if some notable names are missing in 23 man list. What makes you think these issues are not also present in other countries?

Saying Rohr game him an answer he wanted to hear is only an assumption.
Noooo, don't say anything. He wants to shut you down cos you have a different view.

Trust me, I will watching their matches hoping they crash out early. But that’s how I was disappointed when they lifted both the I17 and U20 trophy
asha80:
they cant..they lack the x factor that teams need to win this tourney..the only team that seems not to have an x factor but goes ahead to win world cups is Germany but Germans have what most teams do not-mental strength..and that is not one of english virtues.

I thought depth was something we had going for this team. How is it that on the eve of the WC we are saying no depth?

The only problem is that we have too many DMs if not I don't see who else should be in that team that is not in the team.
Muj what the team need now is our total support, nothing more, hope to see eagles flying in Russia.

And the dopped players, not the end of the world. They should count themselves lucky to be among the best 30 considering the number of footballers in Nigeria.

Those in 25 man team should be happy though 23 is going but still good experience.

New rule to apply during world cup for the first time ever

A FIFA referee during a match. There is a new rule that is set to take effect during the World Cup. [Photo/AfricaSports]
A new rule by FIFA will allow for the punishment of a player guilty of violent conduct during a game even if the referee misses it.

This hugely significant rule will work alongside VAR (Video Assistant Referee)during World Cup.

The rule states that even if the game has restarted the referee can later be made aware of the offense and then he can stop the game before reviewing the offense and deciding on dismissal.

This rule also allows for the issuance of red cards during the half-time period. The current rule states that once the game has restarted such incidents cannot be dealt with.

Another rule states that any player or substitute who gestures with his hands for a VAR review or enters the referee's review area will receive a yellow card.

Coaches guilty of the same offense will be issued with a public warning.

The coach is very predictable. He had made himself clear. He is sticking with the majority of the boys that played the qualifiers. Especially his preferred first team & bench. If Simon is fit, he gets selected, otherwise, the spot is taken probably by simmy or Joel. The squad can't be far from the names below barring injury at the last minute to any of the players. Obedience, Loyalty, Experience, Talents, Competence & Seniority are all factored-in in choosing players in Nigeria.

Goalkeepers
1. Francis Uzoho
2. Ikechukwu Ezenwa
3. Daniel Akpeyi

Defenders
4. Bryan Idowu
5. Elderson Echiejile
6. Shehu Abdullahi
7. Tyrone Ebuehi
8. Leon Balogun
9. William Troost-Ekong
10. Kenneth Omeruo
11. Chidozie Awaziem

Midfielders
12. Ogenyi Onazi
13. Oyinye Ndidi
14. Mikel Agu
15. Joel Obi
16. Oghenekaro Etebo
17. Mikel Obi
18. Alex Iwobi

Attackers
19. Victor Moses
20. Ahmed Musa
21. Kelechi Iheanacho
22. Simmy Nwankwo
23. Odion Ighalo

Honourary Player
24. Carl Ikeme
Likely final list after England match barely any injury.

Modified... Pls Ogu is making it.

By the way, if I was Agbo, I will be furious with Gernot Rohr. He was never given the chance to prove himself. You cannot keep inviting a player and give him no chance to justify his invitation, even in a micky mouse friendly. It is very very unfair. The world in this millennium do not reward meek people.

And by the way, to all you Joel Obi haterz, here's how Colin Udoh who was LIVE in PH on Monday rated Joel Obi's performance:

JOEL OBI 8

The real-life Energizer Bunny.

If he was playing for a ticket to the World Cup, there is little else Joel could have added to his game on the night.

He faded in the latter stages but that is to be expected for a man playing high-octane football in the early minutes.

If the scans show that Moses Simon will be fit for the World Cup, then I expect two of Mikel Agu, Echiejile, and Aina to be dropped.

However, if the scans say otherwise, then obviously it will be Moses Simon and one of Agu, Echiejile and Aina to be dropped after the Saturday friendly.

With the likes of John Ogu, Onazi, Joel Obi, and Ndidi in the team, I don’t see a cogent reason why Rohr will decided to take 5 DMs to the World Cup.

Moreover, Agu has only featured for few minutes under Rohr, and if he doesn’t play against England, just know that he ain’t making the trip to Russia.

Lie no. 1 in bolded italics... Egbon Forgiveness says Kayode played as just SS in LA liga. Really?? So this is the best twist you could come up with for his zero goals return in LA liga abi? Wehdone Sir. grin

Plssss take a look below this post at the attached screenshots aiit.... Kayode played as an SS indeed. You will always shift the goal posts when t comes to your favorite players (some of whom are in truth not even better than what we have and some others even rising through the national team ranks) and later claim double standards for the rest...

If Kayode did play SS for most la liga games... It will be reforded right there. I was even privileged to see some of his games in la liga.

Source: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/olarenwaju-kayode/leistungsdaten/spieler/131694

Number 2 lie.... Yes naa... Kayode was Blunt in the age grades. Realpoacher is right! Have you forgotten the many headaches Kayode gave us by almost always missing sitters and some very good chances for the U-17s and U-20s. Kayode was always renowned for getting into good goalscoring positions and blowing away most of the chances. This is the truth. Whoever followed Kayode kenw this was the fans' major complaint om Kayode.....thus his age grade stats reads 6 goals in 26 appearances (18 apps for the U-20s where he scored his age grade 6 goals, 5 apps for the U-17s, and 3 apps for the U-23s).
Kayode's return for the age grades is really poor for a striker. 6 in 26. Nada man... Not good.

Check here if you are doubt... http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/olarenwaju-kayode/nationalmannschaft/spieler/131694

I have shown yoy your first lie.... And even added a second one. With time... As you speak... You shall keep twisting and changing colors like the chameleon.

It is funny how you are never tired exerting energy yapping and wailing over the likes of Kayode and Ajagun who clearly aren't better than the players leading the Super Eagles' charge. Focus on the team... But clearly your focus is on having your favorites in the team. And what better way to drive home your wailing points than for you to wait for the team to fail so that you can rub it in and say.... If we had kayode... This would not happen.

Egbon.... The problem is that most people here don't really understand you and your style. But I do. And I also know the extent to which I can indulge you without getting stained but some others don't and this is why some of then will eventually wanna start rolling with your funny and preposterous theories of conspiracy.

Last time I checked on the last super Eagles thread... Yoy were the one who cried for a foreign coach. You said you needed a foreign coach anyhow ... That out local coaches are all corrupt... Bla bla bla....

Now it is you again who is coming out to still accuse this foreign coach we got only because a certain Kayode or Ajagun aren't in the team. You Sir are very very funny. But remember, the internet and me never forget.

Meanwhile... I am not back fully. I am still very occupied. But you Sir... Better recheck yourself and ask where your allegiance lies... With the Super Eagles or with Kayode.

The fact that you choosed to hid the lies of realpoacher shows you are already biased. grin

Now, this is someone who will accuse you of half truth and not handling the truth because you mistakenly onmitted one assist for Iheanacho and yet do the same half truth analyses and wayo oluwole fact. SMH

Where are the assists he made? grin Half truth, right!?

In the U17 he was not that prolific and he was not a starter though he started the first match of the tournament.

In the U20, he was the bomb. Go ask anybody. grin

Under 23, one guy from UK was the first choice striker. grin

Stats don't lie.

If contributing 14 goals (6 goals and 8 assists) in 26 matches is poor for a striker/winger then what is good enough? Lies everywhere.

Kayode is a team player. Learn that fast.

Another fat lie aborted. grin

He has moved on from age grade competitions to win laurels with his goals. Next!

Ps: it is 8 assists because of the one assist I added from his U17 game.

Who is now the half truth master? grin

you have the right to be pessimistic but sometimes we need perspective. has there been any nigerian build up to world cups where we were smoking hot? build up to usa 94 sweden and romania beat us we didn't lose hope

build up to atlanta 96 beaten at national stadium in front of our home fans 3-1 by common togo!

france 98 we all know how we were beaten black and blue

funny enough 2002 that we didn't lose any friendly we dropped in group stage

2010 same thing didn't lose any friendly yet first round exit

2014 struggle against mexico scotland and greece before losing to usa yet got to second round using worse players than we have now

the other teams in our group have their issues croatia and argentina though more talented than us have their issues too

if there's any thing i've learnt from watching super eagles over the years never write them because their build up was poor
Jarus:

Same here.

As enthusiastic as I am about national team football, I'm finding it very difficult to raise my hope.

I keep seeing a repeat of 2002 - 1 point in 3 matches!

But I'm also hoping for some miracle.

Fair enough. That's the only difference.

Other than that, this team and 2002 team have many things in common - too many below average players.

I'm hoping for a different outcome from 2002 despite the stark similarities.

sorry sir, how is this team having below average players?

forgiveness:

Aina is a Chelsea player. It is not the question of talent but readiness.

Where is Uzoenyi today?

Was he not the one Keshi benched for an informed Sone Aluko for?

Your analyses is fake.

everyone that watched Nigeria league will tell you that Uzoenyi is a very good player...keshi taking him over Aluko was his choice which i don't accept.

forgiveness is all your argument going to that direction, always comparing your player to others. Aluko was very fantastic but keshi dropped him just like he dropped ideye and so many other boys.

so one here said kayode will make keshi team to tell you how people are discrediting this good man Rohr.
