Shehu played most of our qualifiers he was not bad but Ebuehi is better and faster with good crosses ,hence should sit on the bench

shehu did well in our qualifiers because he was playing with some tactical inept teams. I'm not taking anything away from shehu, his a good player but i think his better in the midfield

if the midfielders perform it will reduce the work load of defenders ...but with Onazi and jOEL on the field am afraid how the first match will be if any of them play

Getting clearer now... That onazi n Joel cant help the midfield. Before we think the problem is Mikel.. But now Mikel was involved still didn't gel...

Definitely Joel sit on bench and Ndidi will take the spot...

As Rohr will be thinking he will definitely try Ndidi, onazi n Mikel again to know how far... If that doesn't work out...
Onazi to bench...

Just about tactics Aint bother about our striking position Cos if the midfield gel well goals will come..
Come June 16.
Nigeria will suprise everyone

I stand by my statement by the way. The team today showed that it can play. Watch our game vs Argentina in 2002. It was worse than our first half today but it was throughout the match

I remember the 2002 game vs Argentina very well.

Yes, the Argies dominated from start to finish, but they only got away with a solitary goal - a respectable scoreline.

I know 2-1 vs England today was also respectable going by scoreline, but both teams didn't play like a team that could pull a victory, so they were at best bopth average.

It has come to the point where even if Balogun is playing well, fear go still dey catch me. I don't know why I no longer have confidence in him.

grin
One thing you should observe about him is his calmness and ability to easily correct his mistake fast
Is not error prone...
His jittery hasn't cost us if I can't remember

Or you remember any?
Do you see his recovery When he was dribbled in box 18...

Think sterling did that mojo...

Just need to free him

Even Arsene Wenger made this error at times.
He's obviously more effective playing through the middle.

That is why it is called a friendly match. It helps to separate pretenders from Koko. Tyrone Ebeuhi come marry my daughter abeg. You too much
chrisooblog:
Onazi was utterly rubbish truth be told that matuidi tackle four years ago did him in. Joel has finally shown that he's not it. Honestly those 2 deserve to be dropped for such a shambolic first half. Victor moses also needs to be brought down to earth all this prima donna rubbish is irritating. Yes Francis uzoho should have done better with harry kane's goal but after all the pressure he was under from the english attack I think we can cut him some slack.

Overall a disastrous game was redeemed with a good performance in the second half team still needs serious work. As for rohr as much as I commend him for making the tactical switch and enforcing personal changes he can't honestly tell me that he sees onazi And joel in training and still thinks they deserved a starting place really poor decision from him.

Haven't lost hope in the team come rain come sunshine I will still back them but at least one good outcome from this game is that we can all now calm down and manage our expectations.

Let's go super eagles

If not for their long Oyibo wall partnership, I will prefer Omeruo and Balogun to start.

Ekong was porus in first half.. Very porus him and shehu... England just used the right back and CB as home

Bros u are free to tell us his flaws but Rohr will start him against Croatia barring injury(Knock on wood).

God willing and hope we all know that the croatia game is key to our moving forward. There will be no more excuse for any flop from any player. That game will decide the future of all those who will play in that game

Bro.... perhaps you need to re-watch the Match. How many successful Crosses did he make?! How many tackles did he won, how many play was he able to break or initiate?! Do I need to tell you he was caught out of Position more than once?!

As per the Wing more penetrated by the English Team in the first Half, my Brother it's the Midfield. They murdered, no massacred our Midfield in the first Half.

You have nailed it with your last paragraph... When you are under attack what can you at forward.. At you need is to defend your home.. And that's exactly what happen..

How many crosses did we have today?

My verdict after today's game

1) Joel Obi is useless: whatever story we read on this thread that Joel was impressive in camp or he is doing well in SerieA are nothing but load of hogwash. he is very useless. I'll take Agu ahead of him any time. his fans are just hyping him unnecessary here since . they said he could play DM, CM,AM,LB... They said he could play better with Mikel.. it's been 4 games now and he hasn't done sh*t.. he should be dropped..

2) Iwobi isn't a winger: I don't think we need to deliberate on this any more... its been proven already that he is ineffective from the wings...

3) 3-5-2 is the real thing: the loss of Moses Simeon is the major reason I think this formation should b our main one at d WC..

4) Ogu is a huge asset: need I say more?? sorry for those who were saying he would b dropped yesterday

5) Odogwu Mikel is still the boss...

The first half of d game was very frustrating.. When Ndidi returns,I expect to see Onazi back on the bench.

And finally,Rohr should pls drop Joel obi

Mikel Obi was the biggest culprist in the first half.

Ebuehi was good but let's not lie about Shehu's performance to credit the guy. Shehu had nothing to do with the English targeting Ekong with pace. The left fullback was the only place being taken advantage of time and time again.
mehn sterling did Ekong a big blow in the first half, at a time I started pitying him because of the numerous runs he was submitting him to

There goes the reason why we lost to SA and Serbia. When you trust onazi to do ur holding midfielder job and he wants to go forward

Boss, just what I was about to type. Gbam.
We had the most cohesive midfield I had seen in a very long while when Onazi was injured against Argentina.

Get my point - with Balogun I've formed an impression. Even if he performs I go still dey fear. I didn't watch the first half fully cos of the rain. But I watched the second half

not true, Shehu exposed the central defenders too much and he never pressed forward

Sterling exposed Ekong, Shehu had nothing to do with that. He had his hands full with Young and Delli and he didn't embarrass himself.

Didn't you see how Iwobi was rousing after he scored. This team can do it if they believe. Iwobi had believe, it showed in his efforts, in his movements, he played with urgency and determination. He stood out of the pack. Imagine if all of them rose up to the challenge as he did.

During the WCQ the team used to boot for 20 minutes now it's 45 minutes. Too bad.

mr Mujtahida i believe you should commend me and mr icon04 after you maintain mikel and iwobi could start and perform...also will you still maintain that iwobi should be on the bench until Mikel get tired?

Hope you guys can see what etebo brought today, he’s the most flexible cm we have, impacted the game very well, gets my nod over onazi....pity we lost, we have sorted our midfield issues to some extent good cohesion and link up passes.
But it’s all the more dissatisfing that if we completed half of our passes in the final third we would have scored more, still an issues we always seem clueless and unsettled in front of goal.
But I was absolutely proud of our second half, ebuehi is our RB, no doubts, idowus game was the most pleasant feeling for me, he has adapted and has pretty much won his spot.
Ogu is class, that guy will play anywhere, was smooth and commanding when he played center defence, balogun I’m sure impressed his new suitors. We played England’s first team and our performance especially in the second half got southgate and those English boys nervous!

Etebo na NEPA. Off and on.
