Bros, take it easy. Mikel Agu and Ola Aina were bound to be the two players dropped. I predicted the same after the DR Congo friendly. Ola Aina may be a good player but, for some reasons, he hasn't really taken the opportunities he's been given to show that he's a big upgrade over Echiejile. I don't like Echijile either but Aina certainly didn't help his cause. Under that circumstance, it would be silly for Rohr to drop Elderson who played in all the qualifiers for the inexperienced Aina.

Echiejile has been criticized for years in Super Eagles, yet he has never let the team down at major tournaments. His experience would be vital in a team with a 19year old keeper, plus none of the other defenders has ever played at the World Cup level. Listen guys, I am actually very glad that most of you are not making these decisions for the Super Eagles.

This is too hard for them to understand. Bunch of ingrates. Aina's treatment was nothing but sheer wickedness and deceit.

We all know the truth but trynna eschew it, one of the baits used to lure Aina was the worldcup, now he wasn't given a better judgement. How do you want the poor boy to feel about the system now?

God!! Southgate will have a field day

I hope Rohr and his crew are watching this match. Croatia is a modified and stronger version of Serbia. Nigeria will have to be very fit and play their best game against them. I hope Onazi and Joel stay in the bench. Croatia is very mobile, contests every ball.

Neymar scored a brilliiiaaaaaant goal.

Lol Onazi.....Onazi will battle modric in the middle of the park

Aniother thing about Croatia is that they go in very hard - this game against Brazil is a friendly but they appear frustrated and have been quite heavy handed. I would say that against Nigeria we will have to be at our best and defensively sound - with the 23 list being drawn and Joel Obi and Onazi being included id say that it will be a long night for Nigeria

Asha, that's exactly what I said. The best way to break them down would be to catch them with a fast counter attack. Hopefully, the team can show the same speed they showed in the second half of the Argentine friendly.

Ndidi and Etebo have to be the midfield against Croatia.

I really feel bad for Aina and I agree with sir Chriskels 100% that Aina was treated unfairly.. Rohr could have moved Shehu back to the midfield(he once tried Ndidi and Omeruo at RB self) after the WCQ so Aina would join Ebuehi at RB. Aina probably did himself when he stated in an interview sometimes ago that he enjoyed playing at LB... Now he's been dropped for a washed up Echijele...
He is still young sha.. but I have doubt if the right back role could still b his even after Echijele leaves... there's a certain Ikuowem Udoh waiting.....
He should have dropped Joel to accommodate Aina for the RB position and move Shehu to the midfield as a DM which is his natural position.

I still don't get why Rohr picked Joel despite the fact that the guy has shown repeatedly in 4 whole games that he has nothing at all to offer to the team. Joel was plainly awful in all the matches but still got picked. Its really sad.

Off point.

Maybe u didn't get the question. Since he is a natural RB, why wasn't he given any opportunity in our RB position to see what he can do, in his stead, why did Rohr prefer a make shift RB (Shehu)?

They are not bad players. They have a contract with a professional club, so they can play at least. So do hundreds of other Nigerian players, but the truth is for the composition of our midfield and defence, Onazi's style of running around like a headless chicken and floating like a bee puts every other midfield player in an indecision place. That was good when he was younger and could recover quickly (The reason we loved him) but now we have an Ndidi and a co-ordinated defense, where positioning and space close out is their foundation (Oyinbo drilling since small pikin) not running around and 7 people defending in the box like we have been used to.
Onazi's runs confuses the players. He is an elder, the younger guys can't shout at him when he bleeps up, but you can see that when Onazi is out, that midfield and defence runs smoother. In other words Onazi did not improve his skills and has lost his recovery speed.

Joel... I have no freaking clue this guys advantage playing for us. Some here said he is the Mikel replacement all I see is an average player that is finding it hard to gel with the players.

Except Rohr wants to use them as practice teams for the main starter team, me I no see their usefulness.

At this point, we have to do with what we have.

Ndidi is not yet fit and has not played ball for the past 3-4 weeks. The fit once are Ogu, and Onazi, they are the only DMF in the team.

So, it's either you start Ogu or Onazi pending Ndidi gets fit.

There's is nothing we can do now but remember this same Onazi played in all our qualifiers.

However, the outcome of our outing in Russia will determine who stays and who goes but I expect us to strengthen the team regardless of what happens in Russia because I don't think some players are good enough to be in the team.

So, let us relax and enjoy ourselves.

Rohr should bear it in mind that he has placed himself in a tight position with Nigeria fans for choosing to keep an overrated Joel Obi after his poor showing in all 4 games he has played (Onazi own is understandable cus he is captain), and a washed up Echijele over Ola Aina...
Rohr should have dropped joel

So you see nothing wrong in ONAZI starting matches?

Mikel was the biggest culprit in the first half doesn't mean I didn't see anything wrong in Onazi.

However, as it stands, he is the best available DMF on ground pending Ndidi is fit.

Even at his Club, Shehu played as a DM, not as a RB. We all understand the Reason for his Emergence as a RB for the Eagles, but since we've got Tyrone and Aina who are more than capable to play the Position, why Rohr still insists on playing Shehu as a RB?!

Joel or Onazi should have been dropped for Shehu to move into the Midfield, and if Rohr wanna rewards the Players that qualified us for the Mundial, then he should have dropped Joel for Aina at least.

Well...... Aina is still a young Lad. He's definitely gonna understand the Decision of Rohr, and I expect him to deal with it professionally.

More so, I think he and Agu gonna still travel with the Squad to Russia. They ain't gonna be left at Home. They are still gonna be part of the Team, train with Team - be and part of the Squad unofficially.

Yes onazi is not bad player but he has been off form even before the England game and he need to sit on the bench even if he helped us qualify for the World Cup does that mean he should always play?

If you want player like onazi to start then you are bias and don't want the best for super eagles.

Even before yesterday match I argued with someone here about onazi I am not even suprised by the way he played yesterday, you want onazi to start and give away passes in the midfield? Okay ooo

I swear those two will be the downfall of Rohr... Those two arw a shame to Nigeria midfield... With them in the middle, you can never see Cohesion, team play, stability, and possession play in our midfield ever.

I am even suspecting Joel Obi to be an antagonist dropped in our team to stifle our play by our enemies.

He is so pathetic and a shadow of his former self... SMH!!

Four matches now with him in the 'fox hole' in the middle yet no creativity, no assist, no commanding performance from him.

Aina should have taken that spot... I don't know if he has an adviser or something. I wonder what his crew are there for.

Omo, did you watch Rohr's post match press conference? He knew what Joel Obi can do, but the young man is just coming off an injury so he's a bit rusty and heavy. He can only improve. Aina has NOT demonstrate that be brings ANYTHING substantially better than the guys who made the team (the keyword being substantially).

Croatia team don't have time to waste, they close down on every player very quick but all i see is gra gra

Majority of there players look fit and ready to contest for anyball, there shouldn't be give away passes in the midfield(onazi).

SE would win the game first half the game if the right selection is made but if not am sorry we would settle for a draw (2-2).

I hope rohr can play 5 man midfield anyone who is to mark persic must make sure his behind not ahead because with rakitic and modric there pass no be for here oooo.

Their defender corluka and Lovren , our wingers should make sure they get book within 20min of the game they make unnecessary tackles

All we need is not to give unnecessary possession, hold the ball as much as possible and our wingers or wingback can use a one or two touch movement to frustrate them!!!.

Just finished watching the game between brazil and croatia forget that they lost 2-0 the croatians are pretty solid. They press very well have good crossers of the ball highly technical couldn't do much in attack because of the midfield superiority of the brazilians but I'm sure against us there will be more offensive right side of the defence looks a bit vulnerable but we have to b sharp to be able to exploit that wing.

Mandzukic didn't play his replacement though looked ok wasn't too threatening but looked dangerous in the air he forced a save out of the brazilian goalkeeper from a header off a good cross. Modric pulled all the strings for them in midfield and they only conceded goals after he was substituted. Rakitic played a deeper role. Kovacic didn't do much but I have to say the fluidity and sharpness of the brazilians didn't allow d Croatians settle to dictate the pace of the game luckily for our fullbacks I'm yet to see any of them that has blistering pace but definitely tyrone should start against periodic. 3-5-2 formation should help against them 2 of victor moses musa or kelechi should starts in attack against them.

Lots of work to be done

Let's go super eagles
