Good point...however for me...why should he wait at half time to change tactise? If he gets four goals in the first half...he may have to climb a mountain in the second half....why not change personel or change play within the half...even if it means changing a player in the first half..that way pressure in the second half will be minimal

Changing of personel early in a game also has its own negative effects.

Changing up to 6 players for a friendly game has given Rohr that opportunity to switch tactical formations at will. For the games proper he can only make 3 substitutions at the group stage. And out of this 3 available substitutions you cannot waste 2 on full backs. Rohr needs to field his back line that can give their best for 90mins. So he can maximize the available options on switches in the front line and midfield positions.

Outshined Ndidi?

You see, this is what Goodjoe has been saying, he leaves space and expects Ndidi to cover.

My brother be truthful, Is Onazi better than Ndidi?

No one is saying, Onazi is better but he is not a bad player.

I don't want to see the Ndidi - Onazi axis against European teams. They'll just press the hell out of Onazi. Mikel's fitness is starting to look suspect to me. Will he have the energy to drop back and help dictate play??

I just saw the 2nd half of the match against Eng and I am watching the match against Zambia. I can tell that Mikel still got the energy drop back and help dictate play if only the coach makes him understand that he has to.

However, I still see Onazi and Ndidi play. Except the coach decides to play Mikel deep, then Mikel and Ndidi will start.

The England defeat must have humbled them.

No twitting, no Instagraming, no facebooking etc.

Time for close camping and full concentration.

That is the point we are trying to make. In the first half of Argentina and England, we played in a conservative manner and we were poor in our display. When Rohr opted for a more offensive set-up in the second half of both games, we were menacing. So that is why I am against us playing in a negative fashion.
Counter attack is negative football. I feel cheated when I hear or read this team being described as a counter attacking team. Counter attack means you are attacked first and you wait to hit back. If I'm a coach I will never play this kind of game. If you pass me, you pass me but I go attack oo, I will attack. Once you have a good midfield and defence why wait to be attacked before you attack?

It is not like that always. Diego Simeone adopted a negative approach after repeated losses. Sometimes coaches adjust to keep themselves in the game. However, it takes a lot of passion and bravery to maintain an attacking philosophy.

nice observation, joel and onazi messed up but the whole team also did...are you sure is about our midfield 2, and why is no one pointing at mikel for the first half collapse.

His the captain, i was expecting a lot of verbal and body language in that first half, i was expecting alot not just play wise...i see other team captain shout on some players messing up.

I still believe the collapse in the first half was more mental and rohr second half talk did the magic.

Rohr and mikel need to talk more during the match
Iwobi played as the captain. Mikel failed in leadership. Rouse your men. Shout at them. Speak to the warrior inside of them.

One factor that will determine our success in Russia is Rohr's starting Eleven.

We need to sort out our midfield and the no 9 position in such a way that we can easily switch from one formation to the other.

That's the bravery I will play with. It's all about mindset. Coaches like Klopp, Pellegrini, Gaurdiola will never set up their teams to play negative football.

I saw a video of John Ogu suffering a panic attack on board a flight to Austria yesterday. That video was inappropriate to say the least because I didn't see any humour in it rather I saw something capable of straining his relationship with those who were recording it. Our players seem to be getting it all wrong with their social media presence and display. I feel social media does more harm than good in football. Little wonder most countries have placed their players on regulations. A situation whereby a player Visits the Internet for his assessment when there are trolls who derive joy in running your confidence down is very bad. I remember Mikel had to delete his Twitter account after his back pass led to Chelsea defeat by Juventus sometime in 2013. These players need to take it easy. They are not show businessmen.

Hopefully the team's video analyst is doing his job. I re watched the game against England this evening and to be honest, Mikel Obi looked heavy, the guy was immobile and he let players go through him on multiple occasions when England attacked from corner kicks.

England nearly scored a 3rd goal when he was out jumped by Stones in the second half while the first goal was due to poor man marking between him and Ekong.

Looks like Rohr has set up the team to defend set pieces using the zonal marking method. The problem with zone marking is that if one player slacks in his duty, the cookie could crumble. No 2nd chances

People wey dey scream Moses up and wey no gree us hear word wetin Moses play against England. Every time VicMo has the ball his only aim is to beat somebody and score a goal. Dude has no team spirit in him. Chidiebere Nwakali would be more effective on that wing against England.
Abeg make we rest from this Nwakali na. Chidiebere was invited in November. He didn't impress. And why don't we concentrate on the players we have in the team pointing out their flaws and making suggestions for improvement?

A part of me keep telling me that our recent performances are blessing in disguise.

I see the whole team sitting up. I see them coming back stronger. I see us making it out of that group without calculator and finally I see us surpassing our previous outings.
I just watched the first again cos the rain on the day prevented me from getting a smooth view. More than his skills and flair Iwobi played with urgency and determination. Perhaps to spite the English, I don't know where the fire came from but he was everywhere and his movement was intelligent.

If this team plays with determination, I will forgive them any failures. I hate slack football.

Arsenal starlet Alex Iwobi has suggested that he is not playing in his best position for the Nigerian National Team.

The Hale End Academy product has played in a variety of roles for club and country, including left winger, right winger, left midfield, attacking midfield and center forward, but he prefers playing in the number ten role.

''For me, I have always grown up playing in number ten, not striker but close to the striker. That has always been my position growing up,'' Iwobi said to ACL Sports.

''I have learnt to adapt to a different position, I have played left midfield, I have played central midfield, I have played right midfield.

''I have played in a number of positions but my favourite position will probably be number ten.''

Leading up to the World Cup, Iwobi is one of Nigeria's most in-form offensive players, with four goals in his last seven matches for the Super Eagles.

I posted his interview with Okocha done by supersports as recently as April. He said the same thing. He said he prefers to play as a SS, a false 9 or 10. Anyway it's good he's also trying on the wings but he's more effective playing from the middle.

Yes,so he needs to start with his best players and best formation that suits them....i have a hunch that he knows that our best formation is 3-5-2...he is trying 4-2-3-1 as a back up..At the worlc cup proper...the best of everything is what we want

That quote from Aina was after he played as a LB in one of Hull’s games. He played 12 matches as LB. That role isn’t entirely new to him.

Yes Ogu did pretty well as CB

Modified
I though he did well. Had to see if his stats was good. Not surprised.

forgiveness:

Etebo played mostly as a CMF in the U23 and he won the player of the tournament and he has gone to play that role in his club.

So, I was not surprised because that was not his first time doing it in La Liga and against England.

Besides, players are different. Not all can play different roles but they florish/florished in the only role they play/plaued throughout their lives and are the best in it especially as a RB or LB. e.g Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Marcelo, etcetera.

Do that make them unprofessional players?

If you think Ogu did very well in the CB position, EOD. lipsrsealed

Honestly, I am not happy both Agu and Aina were dropped after watching the match we played against Zambia in Uyo just now.

Agu was everywhere and did a very good job in that match after he came on for Onazi. This boy even played against Cameroun and still did well yet he was dropped. Na wa ooo.

Before Aina came on for Elderson the Zambians had a field day in his position. They exposed him so badly that hr had to feign injury to avoid been disgraced.

When Aina came on the right wing of the Zambians, they could no longer penetrate that side of our defense and he offered more in the attack.

He combined well with Victor and at one point, they exchanged passes before he beat his marker on the run to lay a beautiful pass to Victor but Victor messed up the chance.

How come nobody saw that?

Anyway, Rohr don put himself for tight corner with his selection and nothing less than a good outing will save his job.

Many Nigeria fans are not happy these two players were dropped and they will hold him responsible for bad performance which nobody is praying for.

NFF nogo fit save dem job not to talk of Rohr.

Besides, Mikel was a beauty to behold in the second half against England.

I noticed Iwobi dropped deep to help dictate play and both he and Mikel were the anchor of the team. Wow! I just love watching my Mikel.

Ogu was exposed big time at the back when we were attacked. Na Troost saved him.

With Musa's natural ability, I imagine he would have improved just like Ebuehi did. I recall Ebuehi saying initially in his early days he wasnt good enough yet for international football.
Aina with all the resources invested in him by Nigeria yet, couldn't acquaint himself. Had Musa been given equal opportunities like Aina and Ebuehi, he would have been ready because the ability is undeniable.
I strongly doubt Ebuehi ever said that. Only his agent said he (Ebuehi ) was not yet ready for international football and would like to focus on his club. How can a player, even a whack player say that he's not good enough for international football. Abeg show me the link from where you got the bolded
