Monkey dey work Baboon dey chop.

Poor Agu. I feel for the boy the most. It was a very bad decision to drop him.

Since, Rohr wasn't confident enough to play Awaziem in the last 2 friendlies and even showed it by ignoring him for Ogu who he has converted to a CB, he should have been dropped for Agu.

The boy effort was just in vain. He's the monkey here. Yet Rohr wan use him as an object of mockery by turning him to training material and ball boy in camp.

Awaziem didn't contribute nada in the friendlies and qualifiers yet he's on the plane to Russia. Na wa ooooooo.

2018 World Cup: Ola Aina, Mikel refuse to be standby players in Super Eagles’ squad

The duo of Mikel Agu and Ola Aina have left the Super Eagles’ camp for their respective bases after they were dropped from Gernot Rohr’s final 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup.

Rohr had given both players permission to stay and train with the team as standy players, but they turned down the option.

Mikel Agu has flown back to Turkey, where he spent last season on loan to Bursaspor from FC Porto.

Aina, who knew about his fate even before the team departed England, decided to stay behind in London, instead of following the Eagles to their training camp in Austria.

Rohr has, however, assured the duo about their future with the national team.

I think the decision to work with the technical committee is down to the Coach. If he wants their inputs, fine. If he does not, it is fine. At the end, the technical committee will not bear the load of any criticism that comes with the job.

Meaning, the technical committee are wasting tasks payer's money by doing nothing.

They should be disbanded.

Is Sone Aluko a DMF?

It seems you are not thinking straight.

Agu had a bad game against Zambia! And we still went ahead to win the match without conceeding a goal!?

Bloody lies everywhere.

Why Rohr no put Ogu since he is better in that match.

My point is drop Awaziem and leave Agu since he doesn't have confidence in him to have converted Ogu CB.

Besides, who was the first person to boldly clamour for Agu to invited to the National team?

Do your research.

Don't bother, I will not respond to your post.

you are just a fault finder, for the record Agu had a bad game after replacing onazi...the pressure was much from the Zambians

Look at this picture and see Onazi's positioning. Do you think it is healthy for the team? Interceptions is a big part of the defensive midfield role. Call a spade a spade than defending incompetence. Onazi is the one with a band on his hand.

The picture only proves that he had to do a lot of unnecessary running because his teammates were not helping.

There is a reason why the term defensive comes before the midfielder. This is due to his primary role being a defensive one. When once a defensive midfielder is not being defensive majority of the time the team is under attack, then the team has a problem.

you choose to close your heart to the truth, when madrid was under pressure from liverpool in the first 20 minute, every one including ronaldo were doing the defensive job, they didnt let casemerio do it alone

it different when a team is hit on a break then the DM need to help the defense before the ball get to them.

England were allover us and 2 DM can't shield that alone, were onazi and noel were even poor was distributing of balls, misplaced pass...they were not out of position.

if you are talking of primary duties, how many Nigeria player did there primary job well in first half...how man forward pass did mikel make, how many crosses did moses make, i didn't see moses in the first 20 minutes, shehu was shaking like he wanna pee, idowu was exposing Balogun, ighalo never did anything positive

Uzoho and Iwobi were the only rare light

that's not professional from the players, what if injuries knock off anyone from the 23 man list, won't they hop into the squad? they guys need to grow up abeg. This is always my issues with Nigerian players and what did they even play before now anyway.

keeping them there was not necessary, other team are training with 23.

remove Victor Moses, for Kelechi and I approve this line-up. Kelechi and Iwobi have worked in a 3-5-2, Moses will probably forget that Iwobi is his striking partner and be running forward without taking notice of him.

It is not bad if Moses starts from the bench. Before we accuse Rohr of being rigid, some of us should also remember that we are equally rigid

Whenever Onazi plays as a DM, he exposes the defence.

How can u be out of position and say you are making runs.

Abeg he is a DM not CM.

It's obvious he doesn't play to instructions.

Why didn't people say he wasn't playing to instructions against Cameroon? He played in the exact same fashion. People are running away from the obvious and making up things. First I hear he was pushing forward and now this. Onazi's passing was poor and that was the key to his bad game. He gave away the ball in dangerous positions and one led to a goal.

in your plan to distrupt everything, you tend to contradict your self, were you not the one that said Rohr was largely influence by big wings in NFF.

Why did garuba and NFF employ Rohr if they don't trust him to invite the right players..

Mikel Agu – Came on for the injured Onazi but it took him time to get into the game. He was booked for dangerous play but the moment he got into his strides, he settled down and combined well with Ndidi to provide cover for the back-four. Also cut off the attacking threat of Zambia on more than a few occasions. 6/10

Rohr Defends Agu, Praises Aina After Nigeria Win Vs Zambia

Peter Oriaku

By Nurudeen Obalola:
Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has refused to condemn Mikel Agu after the midfielder’s shocking performance in the 1-0 victory over Zambia in Uyo on Saturday that sealed the Super Eagles’ spot at the Russia 2018 World Cup, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Rohr was however pleased with the contribution of Hull City defender Ola Aina, who made his Nigeria debut as a second-half substitute on Saturday.

Turkey-based Agu came on in the first half for the injured Ogenyi Onazi and put up a performance full of poor touches and misplaced passes that put his teammates under unnecessary pressure.
It’s not easy to come into such an important game for a young player,” Rohr said in Uyo. “Agu did his best and he’ll learn from the experience. This is not the time to criticise him; we should encourage him.
“He had a difficult game but he will learn.”

Unlike Agu, Aina had an impressive game after replacing the injured left-back Elderson Echiejile.

“Aina did very well and I’m happy for him,” Rohr praised the young defender who is on loan at Hull City from Chelsea.

“When Elderson got injured we felt it was time to give Aina his chance. Aina is a very good young player; he did quite well against Zambia. He defended well and got forward when he had to.

“It’s great to have good young players for the future of the team.”

Agu improved in the second half. Despite the big occasion in a very important match that determined our qualification, Agu did well as a young boy.

Match wey I still watched yesterday.

Why Rohr no use Ogu since he is better?

He will help the team perform better by shielding the defence. It is as simple as that. When he is not, we are exposed at the back.

Look at Onazi's positioning here. He is marked in red.

it was obvious he went to double back with idowu in thw left and the ball came from there, but the qiestion you should ask is where is mikel

yes where is mikel,i can see iwobi...where is the president Mikel

that due process has always been on paper, no coach be it foreign or local especially keshi has ever followed that hell of a due process. You can't help someone to do the job you paid him for. All the technical committee members are bloody hypocrites, you think a victor Ikpeba or a muitu will submit his list of players to a kangaroo committee if they were the coach?

He shouldn't have signed the contract if he knew he doesn't want to defend his list in front of a kangaroo committee.
By the way, that kangaroo committee interviewed and put a seal on his appointment. Without their signing off on his appointment, he wouldn't have been coach of Nigeria.

John Ogu just gave his whole biography on social media.

Footballers go through a lot. He talked about everything from start to finish.

At academica, he was told not to go for the Mandela challenge and to tell Keshi that he was injured. He refused and traveled. After he got back, he was benched. The coach refused to play him. He missed the 2014 WC and refused to sign an extension with Academica. After contract expired, he was out of a club, finished his money and even had to be getting money from his mum in Nigeria to get by. He got support from players like Onazi who housed him in Rome. Eventually, he got the offer from Israel.

The guy should consider writing a book.. There are some inspiring ups and downs.

There is so many challenges for African footballers, Aina can't even get enyimba job.

of all our players, Ogu is the only one who always seems extra grateful, extra passionate, it's like this World Cup means more to him than anyone else

That is why I was surprised when some people were suggesting he gets dropped, like anyone who knows John Ogu and half his story, would NEVER say such a player should be dropped. He has made the most sacrifices to be in this team, he FIGHTS for his opportunities, he is the kind of man you need on a pitch, some people keep harping on about pace, what is pace without passion? Pace without fight, pace that is only for self-aggrandizement.

John Ogu earned his position and he and Balogun, are the two most passionate guys on that team, in my opinion.

I pray that Ola Aina and Mikel Agu do not turn their backs on Nigeria after the world cup. I believe the NFF may have promised Aina a world cup place & now he may feel disappointed. But the truth is that some players were never tested or some were not really tested eg. Junior Lokosa, Uche Agbo, Kelechi Nwakali, Umar Mohammed etc. They just need to all be patient. Simy, Joel Obi, Awaziem, Idowu, Uzoho were really lucky.

Ogu brings a calm aura into this team....he looms over the grasses.....his interceptions are top notch.....his passes short and long....he can play in the defence, though a midfielder...with his long legs,he dispossesses the ball from opponents easily...he takes long range shots-the only one who scores from it i this team- who watched Morocco vs Slovakia,a certain Ziyech from morocco kept firing from afar and kept hitting target ...Ndidi use to do that at Gent

The following should learn from Ogu on hitting long range shots
Iheanacho
Ighalo

let's not waste our energy over nothing, no coach of the SE has never worked with the technical committee on the selection of players in respective whether he was interviewed by them for the job or not. The technical committee themselves have never contributed anything meaningful to our football in the past, their primary job is to develop our football from the grassroots of which they are never interested but only make noise when the list of SE players to be invited are made public. All coaches in the past and even in the future has never worked or will never work with the nff technical committee. They are a mere political set up to fulfill some legal jargons. opari in icons parlance
