Precisely. Agu barely put a foot wrong after he shook off the early jitters. In the second half, he was close to flawless and an adequate shield for the defence. However, I prefer Ogu when it comes to playing in the DMF role. His calmness, composure, ball reading is ahead of Agu from what I have seen.

As you can see, it is a matter of preference not a matter of performance.

ADO Den Haag Chief: We Were Afraid Ebuehi Would Be Axed From Eagles World Cup Squad
ADO Den Haag Director of Football, Jeffrey van As, has admitted that everyone at the club was scared that Tyronne Ebuehi would not be selected in Nigeria's 23-man World Cup squad.

In truth, van As has a point there as the right fullback had been struggling with a groin injury since March, which made him miss the last five games of the season, before he reported for international duty.

ADO Den Haag will be allocated N53.2 million while Benfica will receive N26.6 million from Fifa for the group stage alone following the inclusion of Ebuehi in the Super Eagles squad.

''In the winter we could have sold Ty. We thought: if we keep him, we can still get that World Cup compensation fee in addition to the training allowance,'' van As told Voetbal International.

''When he got injured a while ago, we were afraid that he would not make it to the World Cup, then our plan had fallen apart. But it worked out just fine.''

He added : ''If a top club like Benfica signs him for five years, then that says something about his qualities. I also see him as one of the very good right backs in the Netherlands last season, but apparently the top clubs from the Eredivisie did not believe in him.

''As far as I am concerned, it is a shame that a talented boy like him is already going abroad''.

Ebuehi wore the Super Eagles jersey for the sixth time in his international career when he came off the bench in the 2-1 loss to England last weekend.

Make una free Onazi. He don apologize. That was the same player that laid a nice cross to Iheanacho to power home against Cameroon. He may not be in his best form, but we can only hope that when given the chance next, he would put in an improved shift.

As regards Agu, if Ghanaians come here to see the player we are making a fuss over, dem go laugh us. We can live without Agu. Agu is not significantly better than any of the DMs in the team. Take that to the bank. We don’t know all the factors Rohr took into considerations before he made his decision. We are only judging from 20, 30 minutes they put in, in a friendly. When Lokosa was dropped how many monikers came to his defense? If Agu is called up tomorrow, it’s up to him to honor the call. There are many deserving DMs dying for their first call. Two players had to be dropped, and it happenes to be Aina and himself. They have to take the disappointment in professional way, and live to fight another day.

I think the decision to work with the technical committee is down to the Coach. If he wants their inputs, fine. If he does not, it is fine. At the end, the technical committee will not bear the load of any criticism that comes with the job.
Technical committee indeed. Who amongst them have upgraded himself to the modern football Who? I don't think any... Dudes that are full of sentiments. Forget those guys they just want attention. How can u give what you don't have. Those guys are just wasting taxpayer's money for nothing.

For those shouting blue murder that Agu was dropped in place of Onazi or Joel. Onazi's faults recently are just a lot of misplaced passes thats all. A DM is always adviced to play it simple. Worst case, boot it out of touch for throw in. It happened against Congo & England. The guy may be having some issues that are affecting his game which needs to be sorted out soonest.
Believe it or not, Onazi will be his very best soon. And for these players they re hyping now. Watch out and see how they disappear in games when the time comes. I think una see as Vicmo loss like ogiri inside soup against England. I fear for Nacho too.

Guinea and Liverpool-bound midfielder Naby Keita has tipped Nigeria to reach the semifinals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Africa will be represented by Nigeria, Senegal, Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia at the finals, but it is the Super Eagles who Keita believes will “lead by example”. He also added that two of the continent’s teams could reach the semifinals.

“It will be a tough tournament for African teams but the good thing is that they have learnt from past mistakes,” Keita told Goal.

“I know Nigeria will lead by example and we will definitely have at least two teams in the semis of the competition.

“However, it is unfortunate that Guinea will not be part of the African teams at the games in Russia.”

Keita’s Syli National finished behind Tunisia, DR Congo and Libya in their qualifying group to extend their long wait for a debut at the global tournament.

The best performance by an African team at a World Cup is reaching the quarterfinal, a feat achieved by Cameroon (1990), Senegal (2002) and Ghana (2010).

If a player is not good how did he win MOTMs ahead of players better than himself?

Agu played in the Portuguese league, he won a MOTM award and made the Portuguese league team of the week 3 good times or more.

http://footballpremium.com/africa/mikel-agu-picked-for-portugal-team-of-week-for-third-time/

Agu went ahead to replicate the same form in the Turkish league. He won 3 MOTM awards despite being a DMF and made the team of the week not once or twice. Yet how good is he?

Ola Aina is not good but he has won 2 MOTM awards and championship team of the week not once in just his first full season in the Championship and yet he is not good?

The name in bold is a master of those himself. I dare say he even hits it far better than Ogu.

gamaliel9:
Ogu brings a calm aura into this team....he looms over the grasses.....his interceptions are top notch.....his passes short and long....he can play in the defence, though a midfielder...with his long legs,he dispossesses the ball from opponents easily...he takes long range shots-the only one who scores from it i this team- who watched Morocco vs Slovakia,a certain Ziyech from morocco kept firing from afar and kept hitting target ...Ndidi use to do that at Gent

The following should learn from Ogu on hitting long range shots
Iheanacho
Ighalo
VicMo

I totally agree, bro. Rohr needs to needs to gamble more and make quick decision. If a system/player isn't working then you do what you gotta do. Don't wait to see if the problem can sort itself out, because then it might be too late to remedy the problem. I mean, if England weren't wasteful in front of goal on Saturday, we could've conceded 6 goals or more in the first 45 mins. He's just too conservative for my liking but I definitely won't criticize him because his upside is way more than his downside.

We probably won't have guys like Tyroone Ebuehi, Bryan Idowu, and Francis Uzoho playing for the Super Eagles today, if not for Gernot Rohr.

O pari

gamaliel9:

Good point...however for me...why should he wait at half time to change tactise? If he gets four goals in the first half...he may have to climb a mountain in the second half....why not change personel or change play within the half...even if it means changing a player in the first half..that way pressure in the second half will be minimal

Na you be the real plastic fan. Ogu has been gold consistently, anyhow you want to play him, meanwhile Etebo, like forgiveness said, dey do like NEPA. You fit play am the day wey he dey off and that midfield formation will scatter and he will be reduced to a headless chicken, running up and down the field with zero returns.

My brother I attended one of those schools and I was then a member of one organisation in the school taking freshers on a workshop during orientations, we taught them everything about cultism in school at its bane. Before u lead such programs u will have to have information about what u will be preaching on. We normally got our information from the school securities, man o war and anticult.

Im so happy I was able to change and build lives with that organisation.

I met some students who attended that program then, and they have nothing but praises. A family invited me over to there house in Trans Ekulu Enugu just to thank us for establishing that organisation and they pledged to always support us to ensure it spreads to other schools. When I graduated, they felt it but I still visit them once in a blue moon to ensure it keeps growing.

It was all about morals even though I wasn't a strong Christian then

my brother the kind of statements you read here sometimes. this same agu was displaced by shehu in his club bursaspor yet some people are moaning like we lost the mixture of makalele and busquets in him. i will not unduly knock the boy because he was a contributor to our qualification just like esiti, like efe ambrose, like paul onobi, like sylvester igbonu all played their part and are not going so let's focus on those who are going than wasting energy over what cannot be changed. on aina i was personally disappointed that rohr didn't take a risk by naming him in the final squad but facts are what they are ola didn't show enough of what he was capable of. the young man should take this disappointment in good faith his time will come.

wish the team the best.

Oh please! Enough of all these hype, or else, you guys would be greatly disappointed. The Poland, Serbia, and England friendlies have exposed this team. The World Cup is coming about 3-4 months too early for us. This team is NOT ready for prime time yet. To me, Morocco is Africa's best chance to do well in Russia. Senegal might not do badly either, if they can get it together. I don't have too much confidence on any of the other teams.

of all our players, Ogu is the only one who always seems extra grateful, extra passionate, it's like this World Cup means more to him than anyone else

That is why I was surprised when some people were suggesting he gets dropped, like anyone who knows John Ogu and half his story, would NEVER say such a player should be dropped. He has made the most sacrifices to be in this team, he FIGHTS for his opportunities, he is the kind of man you need on a pitch, some people keep harping on about pace, what is pace without passion? Pace without fight, pace that is only for self-aggrandizement.

John Ogu earned his position and he and Balogun, are the two most passionate guys on that team, in my opinion.
Add Iwobi.

You can see his positioning forced Ekong to leave his position to cover the gap in front of the 18 yard box and thus exposing the defence.

This image practically nailed the coffin for Onazi. This has always been his problem. Being everywhere but nowhere IN PARTICULAR!

This isnt about form. This is about discipline. He lacks the discipline. If only his duties on the pitch can be spelt out.
