Troost Ekong was responsible for both goals against Croatia. For the first goal, he lost his man and fouled his man for the second. He needs to step up his concentration level for the next game. 5 Likes |

TheSuperNerd: We didn't notice that weakness in Rohr's team until we played European oppositions. Which European oppositions did Oliseh face? The only set piece I can remember Oliseh's team scored was Simon's direct free kick against Swaziland. |

They also scored from Indirect free kicks against Cameroon and yes, Swaziland. Not Simon's direct free kick but the second goal. And as I said, Oliseh's reign was short and laden with controversies. There was no way he was gonna face Euro oppositions. Even at that, we scored a couple from set-pieces. We have never scored from an indirect free kick against African opposition under Rohr. From a cornerkick, we have only converted once under Rohr and it was a dummy corner even against Cameroon. Also, Iheanacho is the only guy to have scored a free kick under Rohr. Simon got his under Oliseh. The fact is we have gone from improving a bit to being less dangerous from set pieces. We have to work on that going forward to multiply our weapons of attack and chances of winning games. Sometimes, the difference can be a header from an indirect free kick or a corner. Honestly I saw it too and I am beginning to wonder if our closed sessions in Russia are indeed closed. Our journalists should learn to chill abeg. The team comes first before any attempt to break "exclusive news" first. tbaba1234: 1 Like |

somehow: Does life end if we lose the game? Will football end if we lose the game? Did you place a huge bet with the game? Will you lose your job if we lose the game? If "No" is the answer to all the questions raised above why develop health issues over it. Remember FOOTBALL IS JUST A GAME. 4 Likes 1 Share |

In his very short reign, I think 3 goals or even four scored against oppositions from set pieces is enough. We were more dangerous from set pieces under Oliseh. I also recall when he harped on this aspect of the game in interviews. The improvement was deliberate and not coincidental. They really were working on it before he used his own hands to spoil his good work through controversies and poor player management. Under Rohr, we have only scored two... One from a direct free kick and one from a dummy corner. None from an indirect free kick, not even against African opposition. Honestly, going forward I would like to see us improve here. I have mentioned this before during the WCQs. Icon4s: 1 Like |

It is NOT. It is surely not. This is the one aspect I could call positive under Oliseh. Is it coincidence that we scored 3-4 goals from set pieces under Oliseh in his very first reign when he also talked about working on our being dangerous from set pieces in interviews? I don't think so Dad. Icon4s: 1 Like |

realpoacher: Honestly, the last time Nigeria's performance got at me was at France 98. There is no disappointment I can receive from this team that I have not received before. See, I remain highly positive about our win tomorrow. But if we don't win, so? We look forward to the future. That is the mindset I use to watch football these days. I don't weep over defeats anymore. |

mank1234: Nigeria are like Liverpool or Leicester they thrive on counter-attacks, if they come against a organized neutral team like Iceland, they will suffer. A team full of DMs is not setup to break down defences. |

How long did Oliseh stay on the job? Didn't he resign? He did it against Cameroon. Against Swaziland and against another African opposition whose name I would recall in time but not now... All in his short controversial reign. But with Rohr, we simply have not seen same improvement even against African sides. I am not even talking Europeans. Icon4s: 1 Like |

Victor Moses is the weak link, all the opponents need to do is watch him, when he gets the ball, they know he will try to do too much. Same thing Neymar did to Brazil against Switzerland. We don't need crossing wingers, we need dribbling attacking wingers because we don't have players who can convert crosses. Yet Moses, as poor as his crosses still messes up the team play. Seems the coach can't tame his ego. |

I hope you know I am only analysing Oliseh based on the games he had as coach with the Main Super Eagles squad and not even the CHAN Eagles. If I add the 8 games with the CHAN Eagles, you will see that we scored a few more than four from set pieces. In Five games with the main Super Eagles, Oliseh's team recorded Four Set piece goals and you want me to think he didn't improve just a bit a thing or two in the team? Nope. Not buying it. I didn't like Oliseh's reign because it was full of controversies and bad atmosphere but he did manage to do something right to a little extent as regards set pieces. His team stats show this. So yes, he did improve us even just a bit on set pieces. We were more dangerous under Oliseh from set-pieces than under Rohr and I hope going forward, Rohr and his crew can truly change that and make us a far more lethal and well rounded force.
