TheGoodJoe:ighalo made an effort with his volley; this is not a clear cut chance now, why have we all decided to put the blame on him for the loss?! I believe if we were leading by 2 goals to 1, the ighalo miss wouldn't have bothered us much. I am just pissed the ball wasn't a shot on target...he his just unfortunate 4 Likes 1 Share |

Rohr is quite a conservative coach-though not unexpected for someone his age. The more reason I respect Sir Alex a lot though I am not a Man U supporter. He kept in touch with tactical innovations even in his advanced age....very proactive coach. Nigeria needs someone like that but I think Rohr should be allowed to take the team to AFCON 2019 and a decision can be taken after that. 5 Likes 1 Share |

I have slept over the rush of emotions yesterday and I feel much better today to talk about this team. I think they fought gallantly. The plot was lost after our first game against Croatia. I think this team should not be disbanded except for the normal change of aged players or those who really have no business being in the team. Players like Ighalo, Echiejile, Joel, Akpeyi, and sad to say our captain Mikel might have come to the end of d road for their international career. But I pray and hope Mikel stays and lead us to Afcon 2019 and probably the next worldcup in Qatar(Yes, I have seen players do it at 40. why can't Mikel at 35?)albeit as a bit part player with experience. But it seems 2019 afcon will be his swansong if not now. The team is youthful and would blossom more together if kept. I think Rohr should not be sacked. He can lead us to afcon 2019 glory. Ekong can be a potential captain in case Mikel decides to hang his boots now(I hope not). With injection of new youngsters to compliment the ones already on ground, we would come back stronger. Our best positive from this worldcup is the experience gained by the youngsters, Uzoho, Ekong, Etebo,Ndidi,Kelechi and Ebuehi whom we finally capped. If u add Nwakali, Olaoluwa Aina, Dessers, Lookman Ademola(I have a feeling he will opt out for Nigeria), Tosin kehinde, Maduka Okoye, Tammy Abraham(probably to replace Ighalo), Philip biling of Huddersfield, etc, we will take the world by storm come 2022. On a personal note, I will like to thank those who kept this thread going from d onset. You are all too numerous to mention and I would feel partial if I leave out any name cos I can't mention all. So it is better not to mention at all. But u know yourselves. You guys rock. We have always been like one big family and I hope we all survive the hassles of the world to be alive and come back to cheer our team to greater heights come 2022 and afcon 2019. Will be a bit part analyst from now till November wen afcon qualifiers resumes, but it will be highly unjust of me to just take a break without apologising to those I have annoyed with my choice of words unknowingly and knowingly. safarigirl our queen mother here is one person I wanna apologise to for our fracas some months back. I believe she knows our exchange of words was due to d heat of the moment. Football can bring tension and emotions sometimes especially when it is for your beloved country. Am sorry dear. We will come back to do more in November (winks). God bless you all who made this forum thick from our journey throughout the qualifiers. It was worthwhile. I hope we are back soon to do it again. Ghost analyst for now. Love you all..... Go eagles!!! Soar higher!! Sainty92 9 Likes |

Good morning folks. Yesterday's result did not leave me the same. For the first time I went to bed and slept like a baby despite the loss that saw us crash out. I don't know yet but e be like se the football part of me left. I don't know what to attribute this to. Either to the loss or officiating. But I'm sure I'm no longer the same guy! The Super Eagles still remain Nigeria's team - the result won't change that. I'll always support them. But not as fanatical as I used to be. Thank goodness I stopped been club football fanatics after my club Chelsea won the championship league. I now watch them when I like, no longer feel the pain when they loose and no longer care about who and who are been signed by the coach and board. I don't know if I'll do the same for our national teams. But yesterday, the football I knew and grew up to love die. I'll mourn it death and move on. It's been a pleasure discussing this beautiful game with you guys. 1 Like 1 Share |

TheGoodJoe: Sir, you hardly post here without mentioning Nacho. When the said Nacho was on the pitch, what was his impact? Everyone was saying he was poor and all, but didn't say anything about that. I'm very sure if it were another player, you would have massively castigated him. However, I think the coach was right to have substituted Nacho. If not for Ighalo misses, and he had scored those goals, would you have said the decision was bad? Please, let's be objective and stop taking sides with these players. 2 Likes 1 Share |

klexycole: I clearly stated yesterday that Nacho was not doing badly. He was having difficulty coping with the pace of the Argentines but that was the Argentines being good. However, I would have taken Nacho out, moved Moses forward to pair with Musa and then brought in Ebuehi to replace Nacho. The image below shows the set-up. You can not talk about yesterday's game without talking of the removal of Nacho and how it affected the game. If it can be done, show me.

What i saw yesterday from the Super Eagles was a display of Stage fright and a coach who is clueless when it comes to substitution and in seeing off a game.... No more... No less!! Ighalo was extremely wasteful in front of goal... He had been poor all along for us but last night was the night he could have redeemed himself but alas, he nailed his coffin. I believe his time with the Super Eagles has ended.. Good riddance On our coach Gernot Rohr..., even he too killed this team with his timidity, low self esteem and cluelessness..... He should have brought on Iwobi for Etebo and Ogu for Musa(to put more men in the middle and switch to 4-5-1) when Ighalo was missing those chances and Argentina brought on Kun Aguero for a defender. But No!!... This Gaffer stood like a dunce and did nothing.... What the bloody Bleep was he keeping his Subs on the bench for when the match was ours for the taking? It was obvious at that point that our legs were heavy and couldn't run... All he should have done was to crowd the midfield more Gosh!!... This man is a saboteur.... He threw away our match... i am tempted to say that he sold it ........................................................................... On going forward... I will say that he should be allowed to continue for the sake of continuity, there is no sense in us going round a vicious cycle with reactive sacking of our coach each time we don't perform well in a tournament But in retaining him, conditions must be spelt out.... He must become fearless in his approach and turn the team into an attacking team regardless of who we play... He must strip himself of all his timidity and stop singing this "young team" song... We are tired of it already Target must be given to him to win the next AFCON or at least play in the final But in all that we do.... Two things must remain sacrosanct in our team motto henceforth WE MUST BECOME A FEARLESS AND ATTACKING TEAM FROM THE BLAST OF THE WHISTLE AGAINST ANY TEAM IN THE WORLD... EVEN THOUGH WE KNOW THAT WE CAN'T BEAT THEM... REMAIN FEARLESS AND TAKE THE GAME TO THEM BY ATTACKING THEM ALL THROUGH COS' AT THE END OF THE DAY THE BEST FORM OF DEFENSE IS ATTACK 2 Likes |

klexycole: Ighalo's chances came after the Argentines committed more men in search for a winner. If Ighalo started the game, he would have absolutely performed far worse than Nacho. That one is not even up for debate. Ighalo contributed less than Nacho and Mikel got over worked to help the team match the Argentines movement. Thus causing us to lose shape and a lot of time play in a more conservative manner. When people say Nacho was poor, most of them are just watching on the ball movement. Watch Iheanacho when he was not with the ball and see the work rate he put in. However, to match the Argentines, I would have pushed Moses forward take Nacho off and bring in Ebuehi. That I felt would have been a better response than bring in Ighalo. 2 Likes |

realpoacher: You can not learn to use your left hand in old age. Rohr is not a creative attacking coach. He does not have the philosophy in him. Why keep him and ask him to become fearless when there are coaches out there who have played and set-up their team in a brave fashion all their lives. I say we get a creative coach with sound modern philosophy to have a long time with the team. |

BascoVanVeli: No. He headed the ball himself and it hit his hand. There is no way that is a penalty. If our player nodded the ball, we can talk of hand in natural position. |

I didn’t want to accept it but finally it has sunk! Football the so called beautiful game has been destroyed by politics, it’s baffles me these officials and referees can get away with such unbelievable decisions, killing the dreams of millions of people and players, coaches, staffs who have giving their lives to the game and these referees do the most unbelievable things without any punishment or probing! It just shows that the higher powers are the one who decide the games, the players who have trained, worked, fought and pushed them selves to the limits, they are all just wasting their efforts the match has long been decided before even the warm ups. Im in for the end game and I’m very proud of our players but these kind of officiating in argi match just makes you lose a bit or a lot of passion for the game. I can only just imagine how our players who gave their best would feel. Infantinos tenure is looking worse than blatters! The officiating in this World Cup is probably the worst in history. We gave our best, we will heal. |

Those calling for Rohr's head have you seen Nigeria defend so well prior to the Argentinian game Have you seen Nigeria play a 3-5-2 before Rohr Did you know Ebuehi, Idowu Uzoho prior to their introduction by Rohr The man has his shortcomings but he is the best coach we have had since Clemence Westerhof(I hope you counter that) Many of Nigerians are ingrates smh |

klexycole:Sir,before the match I posted recent performance of Ighalo and Iheanacho which wasn't good enough but some turned it to Ighalo vs Iheanacho Imagine our two strikers went goal drought in the last 5 matches before WC and failed to get ordinary assist prior to Argentina match, both were blunt and abysmal against Croatia and Iceland. And what happened against Argentina they failed woefully. Ighalo and Iheanacho failed us when it matter most though Ighalo miss hurt and i think this is the time for him to quit with the likes of Daniel Akpeyi,Ekene Ezenwa,Ogenyi Onazi,Echiejile Elderson and Joel Obi. Iheanacho was rated the worst player yesterday. Ighalo and Iheanacho are the worst Nigeria player at 2018 WC,no sentiment and my candid opinion. 2 Likes 1 Share |

TheGoodJoe:When you want to defend a cross one of the basics is for your arms not to be lifted, the head is what is needed, rojos arms were so high, he nodded the ball and it hits his arm, how can you say that is not a penalty? This is not ball to hand, he attempted a header he didn’t get the hit and it took a deflection of his hand. If the rules cannot be applied to other wc matches like the Iran potugal match, you cannot justify them enough. The kick on nacho head in the box was without doubt a penalty |

Rohr practically used this WC as a learning experience. The guy was not joking when he said he was preparing for 2022. The only problem I have with that is he'll be like 68 and I doubt he has it in him to reinvent himself. Never been an attacking coach and won't start now. At least he has learned to play Mikel deeper thanks to Okocha and José Mourinho Well he has the AFCON qualifiers and AFCON to prove himself. If he fails at both - he gets the boot. Personally I'd fire him right away but let's have "continuity". Yes this was a tough group and yes we were underdogs from the start, but that should never absolve Rohr of some big mistakes he made in this tourney. 3 Likes |
