Oasis007: I'll select the 23-man squad from this pool of players. GOALKEEPERS Francis Uzoho David Nwokolor Akpan Udoh Dele Alampasu Maduka Okoye Doesn't make sense to have a 19yr old No 1 goalie and have backups in their late 20's and early 30's. DEFENDERS William Tróost-Ekóng Leon Balogun Chidozie Awaziem Kenneth Omeruo Olamilekan Adeleye Tyrone Ebuehi Musa Mohammed Ebube Duru Ikouwem Udoh *Dominic Iorfa Jr *Moses Odubajo Deji Ousman Beyreuther Notable absentees are Bryan Idowu and Ola Aina. In my opinion, Ola Aina is not good enough. Bryan Idowu gets dropped cos of my preference for naturally left footed players as left back which is covered by Ebube Duru, Ikouwem Udoh and Deji Ousman Beyreuther. MIDFIELDERS John Mikel Obi Wilfred Ndidi Oghenekaro Etebo Alex Iwobi Kelechi Nwakali John Ogu Uche Agbo Okechukwu Azubuike Anderson Esiti Tosin Kehinde Dropped are Joel Obi and Oganyi Onazi ATTACKERS Paul Onuachu Ahmed Musa Moses Simon Samuel Kalu Taiwo Awoniyi Henry Onyekuru Sadiq Umar Cyriel Dessers Junior Lokosa Victor Moses Noah Sanreren Bazee Isaac Success Victor Osimhen Kayode Olanrewaju Dropped are Ighalo, Iheanacho and Simmy Nwankwo. Not good enough for me. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Fadiga24:If we are to tell ourselves the truth and not wait for an article gushing about baloguns ability or some big club chasing him, balogun is in top three best defender in Africa when he’s fit! yes putting in mind benatia, koulibaly, hezagy and co. Particularly because his skill set are very rare. Duffy and dunk are old school Epl defenders who boss all the blocks, clearances and headed duels, they are good but not top class, not even in contention for their national teams. For me seeing is conviction the Duffy and dunk I saw last season are not has good has balogun! To start with balogun is not lacking when it comes to winning head duels, clearances maybe we’ve not seen enough blocked shots from him. Baloguns “international footballer” status will make him a starter in Brighton, I don’t think they have a better interceptor of the ball in defense than Leon, he reads the game way better than their defensive combo but what really sets him apart from them is his ball playing abilities. Brighton need brains in their defense, they got the perfect defender. 3 Likes |

Loogan: Abeg put sentiment aside, Duffy and Dunk are brave strong defenders (Leon does not possess much physical strength) They have considerable pace (Balogun is also lacking in this area) My greatest worry is that they both possess a telepathic connection, each knows what the other is going to do next which is a fan favorite I don't think Balogun will get up to 5 games next season |

jihday:Nigeria played only 45 mins of decent football and that was the 2nd half of the game against Iceland. The rest was nothing to write home about. I stand to be corrected. |

Fadiga24:I think you are the one who should put sentiments aside because it seems you think it’s all English defender you see that starts for an elp club are there on merit? Balogun is a brave defender I don’t know what your definition of brave is. Then put that physical strength talk aside because that so wrong, balogun is not strong?? Nawa Balogun is not the fastest but hoves duo are not considerably faster besides he’s no slouch and his reading of the game makes up for speed. why are you making it seem like Duffy and dunk are Ramos and varane which telepathic understandings that quality talent cannot better. It’s obvious you think lowly of balogun saying he would not get 5games 1 Like |

goldfish80: Croatia> Poland. Argentina > Colombia. Iceland=Japan We were in a tougher group. But like I said, the most important criteria to use here are the results obtained from the group. And not just strength of the opposition. So based on this Senegal is ahead of Nigeria. And there is no way you will say Morocco is ahead of us. Cos they only drew 1 game. 3 Likes |

Of all the African teams, Senegal are the most disappointing. I cant see how they couldn't get out of a group of minors- Poland, Columbia and Japan. 1 Like |

Loogan: Duffy and Dunk are one of the greatest partnership in Epl that's why the whole team is built around them I am not hyping the duo but I know the stuff they are made of, why do you think Brighton is one of the lowest conceding teams in the Epl Balogun is not even a starter for Fc Mainz I don't see how he would displace either one of the two P.s They don't even get injured (Balogun was injured 2 times in the space of four matches) |

Too much oyibo in our squad cost us. We lacked the typical African or South American mentality that could have seen us through 4 to 10mins of that game. An Ezenwa in goal could have killed that game totally. 1 Like |

Icon4s: Remove your partisan shades for a moment. How can you suggest Japan and Island with their 300k population are equals? Do you know Japan have qualified for the 2nd round of every world cup attended since 2002 with the exception of 2006? Currently the Asian champions. People have made the mistake of overrating Island because of a few famous results they earned playing 9 men behind the ball. Secondly, I would rate this Colombia side ahead of a disorganized Argentine side coached by Messi. They play the better and more organized football. I agree Croatia is better than Poland, with hindsight of course, judging by the lofty ranking of Poland who were even seeded in pot 1,one would have thought they had a crack team. |

Loogan: French league would have better suited Balogun because it is slower and more technical English league is for strong and fast players (and Balogun is lacking in these two aspects) You saw how he struggled for pace against Di Maria and in the Iceland game? In the Epl he is going to meet Aubameyang, Sterling, Vardy, Sane and the likes |
