Would you honestly say we lost because of where our players play? Was it not down to stupid tactics deployed by the gaffer? We need to stop this noise of where players play abeg. If you have it, you have it!

One thing happens in football without doubt if you are playing with top quality consistency. You will be noticed.

There is player playing for non league Fylde in England being courted by Championship clubs.

At the end of the season club recruitment will look at players statistics. Then they will look at the players and then they will go get them.

Dele Alli, Ademola Lookman, Gomez, were all teenagers catapulted from non league to the EPL. Why top performances.

Of our players are good they will progress from moi moi league and clubs. It's simple.

Which one will you subscribe to NFF sponsoring NPFL coaches for coaching training or compelling them to do it themselves

They should sponsor them if they really want to improve our football. Maybe down the line the coaches can be on their own but not now. It has been clear to see how our local coaches get outclassed in the continent. I am a firm believer that we have good players in Nigeria but poor coaching and management.

Yes he was on fire towards the end of last season. It’s more reasonable to think he will continue from where he stopped. Put the WC disappointment behind you.

How was he on fire.

In my opinion he was frozen out but began to thaw. Of he was on Fire how many goals dud he score for his club in the EPL all season.

Firstly, I am not big I know a few people in English football, that's all.

Surprisingly, a few are club Managers one in the EPL. These guys are club managers buy are not as proud conceited, pompous and without integrity as our NFF guys

Our guys look for the deal first before the best player.

So considering that kind of shameless environment, I am sorry I can not participate. However if they can change thier spots and sincerely want players based on merit and performance.

Then talking to Amaju na small matter.

Who are these players u wanna get us that we dont know already? Are they on par with the Ainas, Iwobis that the NFF already have even with the so called high handedness?

Just name the players make I see their names

I have notice your comments here, the reason people will keep seeing such comments as been biased is the way you pass your message. Too blunt, I know you really say the truth most of the time but the method of delivery is the problem. Enough of the hyping, if we have players that can help the nation, suggest them and bring stats. He is already developed, expecting that a move to the premier league would improve his pace is wishful thinking

He needs a league that is already suited to his capabilities (Monaco or Lyon would not be bad options)

From what I gather Balogun is cover I doubt t he will be first choice.

And how many goals did he score through the whole season in the EPL

I'll tell you 3. For a player bought as a striker for £25 million, would you say that's outstanding average or downright abysmal.

Clubs buy in form players in that context which club will be looking to pay £25 million for him now.

What did Neymar do in his first season in barca? What did Dembele do last season? Didnt they cost at least 4 times what Iheanacho was sold for? Not every player hits the ground running. There will be numerous clubs looking for him because they are not blind, they won't just look at stats they will obviously see that he dramatically picked up at the end of the season.

Oga, my comments are not about his world cup performance but his "footballing ability"

I have always felt that way about him, even when he was at Man City.

Pls tell me, which position does Nacho excel playing at?

Centre forward?

Support Striker?

Attacking Midfield?

Wing forward?

Which football attributes does he possess?

Dribbling?
Pace?
Close/good ball control?
Passing?
Aerial threat?
Positional play & good movement?
Hold up play ability?

Shot accuracy is too limited a skill set and won't keep him at the top league

I play the game, I coached the game and I watch the game.

I know a good player when I see one. Iheanacho is not a good player.

I foresee Iheanacho going the way of Freddy Adu, Dominic Adiyiah & co who fell from the heights of european football to obscurity.

Why are you saying this now.

When I made these observation I was harangued with vitriolic rhetoric from the gutter. But every one kept quite.

I had watched him at the Academy and even when he got into first team football. I was expecting him to develop beyond being a goal poacher.

On what basis years of academy football.

He needs to break into the first team of Wolfsburg.

Shockingly he was invited to the SE totally unproven totally unjustified but why

I said it ages ago and was slated on this forum right left and center. That he would struggle to make it into a English EPL academy.

Just as Ebuehi too would struggle to make it into any epl Academy. grin

Dude nobody takes u seriously anymore

Your Solanke that you were making up goals for only had one league goal last season. Put Nacho on Liverpool and he scores 10 coming off the bench.

As I see other teams progress, I get angrier with our players and even more at Rohr.

Why? you may ask

Well, Ighalo didn't bury his chances when they came. If he had, that match would've ended differently

Iheanacho did nothing to prove his doubters wrong.

Iwobi was hardly given game time and was deployed at the wrong position when on the pitch.

But most of the blame rests with Rohr..... because he selected his players without undue interference. Your top striker was on a goal drought after many friendlies yet you choose to start same striker alone up front in your first match (the most crucial match for us). Couldn't Ighalo have been relegated permanently to the bench or worse still dropped from the Squad?

The NFF did everything right this time; no issues of bonuses, no rows with players, sponsorship deals flowed left, right and centre, scouts were deployed to watch players, enough quality friendlies were organized etc....yet our boys didn't seem to play with passion and hunger while our coach allowed primordial sentiments to becloud sound judgement by constantly extending invites to players whose form were below sea level.

That's why I supported Rohr's sack because a leopard doesn't change his spots and his conservative style of football and coaching at large ruined our chances at the tournament. If he is allowed to continue, we might see more of the same coaching style

I am rooting for either Uruguay, France or Belguim to win this world cup......

Uruguay has a better chance. They look more disciplined than the aforementioned teams especially at the back (defense)

I posted an article here not too long ago about reasons why our football is not moving forward.

I like to capture the attitude of african players especially the ones plying their trade in Europe

It's no longer news that when they start making some change every week, most of them loose focus and no longer strive hard to improve their game.

They take on all forms of vices especially partying and then their game declines until they sink into obscurity and finally nothingness

How many of them have personal coaches? How many of them have clear road-maps for improvement?

To start with, some of them need to change their attitude to the game and start taking it seriously. They should forget all past glories and media hype and forge ahead unto greater things

To any one that doubted we should have had a second penalty against argentina, wasn't it the same situation with Pique when Spain played against Russia...

Does referee have double standards when making this hand balll in the box call..the rule is simple if your hands are in unnatural position inside the 18yard box...its a PK...that rule applied to pique today Don't understand why it didn't apply to Rojo..I guess it was more beneficial to keep Argentina in the world cup..

Watching today's game just brought back that memory...I'm just getting frustrated at how things went against us..

Eagles were woefully inept.

The loss to Argentina was like buying a dozen eggs from the market, getting home safely after a rough ride, without a single egg breaking....then once home the eggs are placed on the dining table, only for all the eggs to fall on the ground and smash to pieces.

Whose fault was it?
The egg or the chicken?

Was it a mistake to pay these players on time? Late pmt seems to ginger our players..... prosperity does not.

Eagles were the oldest young team ive ever seen and the slowest....haba...Iheanacho 21? Uzoho? He had some good saves, but that reflex is that of an older player. He has height, but no spring.

Musa IMO was iced
I was watching the game wondering out loud......wtf are they sending the ball to Iheanacho?? Musa is on the other side and he is not being targeted?
Argentina was destroyed by a legit youngster in Mbappe who ran that Argentine back line ragged. I guess in 20 years time mikel will tell us they intentionally did not pass musa the ball enough to humble him.

Continued......

Looking good as opposed to being good

Im looking at the remaining teams left and all their jerseys are straightforward...while play wise they all have a chance to win the cup.

My country Swag was high... Jersey was fire!!! Celebs were rocking it, foreigners dey rock em....then actual football was played....yuk..yuk yuk...

Cant dribble, cant shoot, cant defend for 10 minutes, cant run, cant adapt, cant take on players, no fire, no desire....flat flat f*cking flat!!!!

Oyingbo wall is soft as cotton candy

I like them, but like doesnt win you anything. If these two are your foundation, then new cement is needed...the wall let in 4 goals in 3 real games. For a team that has difficulty scoring, that aint gonna cut it.

We need to focus our resources on other sports. Football has gone beyond where Nigeria is.
Football is very scientific today filled with analytics to improve and help a team adapt, anticipate, act, react, etc...we are no where close. But it's ok, with 200 million ppl, there are other sports for us to try.

Looking at the teams left it is as clear as rain water the jibronis that represented us would have chopped at least 5 if not for Rojos and messi saving us from going forward.

We dont have players with the mental fortitude and discipline to take us higher, nor do they posses the work ethic, hunger and informed decision making to go further.

All our players care about is money up front, so they can take care of their entire village and show lifestyle, if not why for the love of God would Etebo leave la liga for epl div 2? Isnt that going backwards? And you are a starter for the national team??

As for one of our benchers... Ebuehi(still dont know why is on the bench), .....goes from Dutch league to Portuguese giants, with a champions league ticket already booked. That's growth , a player who wants to improve. Unfortunately he is the exception not the norm.

I read somewhere that Rohr said he had a few players that will no longer be part of the eagles...few ke? Ogbeni.....let me help you..

List of players that should not report for duty again

Mikel - holding back Iwobi
Ighalo - CANNOT SCORE EVER AGAIN!!!
Onazi- It's time
Joel- no comment
Iheanacho ( yes even uncle) - annoyance
Shehu - quota
Idowu - coach's pet
Omerou - it's time
Echiedje - it's time

Snatch that 10 jersey from skippo and give it to Iwobi. Iwobi is not perfect, but he can be a very good 10.

But how are we supposed to know that when u are playing a career definsive midfielder as your play maker. The reason? Well he played it for us for 2 years and nobody complained? What?

So my coach is telling me that playing against mediocre African talent is the same as playing world class talent? Adapt biko,....step it up...

Rohr should be fired, but he wont because he and pinnick are in bed together.

End rant

I have to give credit to Pinnick and NFF and the sports ministry for taking care of their business. As far back as I can remember, Nigeria has always had financial problems, lack of promised money, player strikes, poor preparations and useless friendlies going into tornaments.

Not this time. They did a great job and should not let these stupid boys spoil it for future Eagles.

I want NFF to be more involved....Rohr cannot be left alone to pick anybody he wants. He has won nothing so therefore he gets no privileges.

Idowu is a solid guy. Can play as a CB, LB, RB and even as a DM at times. Only a fool would want us to throw him away.
Not all fullbacks will be as flashy as Ebuehi
