I challenge anyone beating the drum of war to stop hiding under a faceless identity.

Use your real identity.

Senseless youths who don't know what war is are all over this trade talking about war!

Some of you are even overseas talking about war in Nigeria!

Those people talking about wars should go and ask their parents how they suffered during the war.

I trust the Nigerian military to deal with any fool trying to forment troubles.

Nonsense!

Seun, Mynd44, you guys should be monitoring this Imo thread closely

Nairaland.com shouldn't be a platform where people talk about war!

Hello? Are you well at all?

A warehouse? To sell us more cement? You're parading this?
wow

It is more than a warehouse but an office complex with several multistorey buildings housing different departments of his company. Very soon the full photos of the complex will be available but here is the one I've been able to crop.

SoNature,

You gag, you censure.

But FYI
When people feel caged, there is no limit to where they discuss freedom.

Without having Igbo as president of Nigeria, the economic, political, cultural, and social advancement of the Igbo tribe must remain stunted. Nigeria's growth remains equally stunted.

Nigeria was politically restructured by northern Nigeria's soldiers to exclude the Igbo and other minorities from the country's presidential position. (GEJ Presidency was an aberration).

You may be happy over Nigeria as it is, but in future, your offspring cannot.

Bottom line:
I am aware you want only Okorocha's development projects in Owerri here.

I am also aware you are most pained when ever anyone laments over Gov. Okorocha's macabre dance in Orlu.
But be informed: everybody must not become like SoNature.

Biko hapum aka.

There are ways rational people discuss issues other than talking about war up and down.

My family lost so much in the civil war, and I will resist any senseless attempt to drag my people into another round of avoidable war.

Go on Vanguard Newspaper or google the well-researched article Senator Ike Ekweremadu wrote about how to pursue freedom.

Read it and sensitize those warmongers.

Our topmost priority should be how to protect our peoples in our local communities from the marauders, not suggesting that there's going to be war.

Some of you guys are overseas suggesting that war is coming in Nigeria...because you won't be affected

You lots don't seem to have learned from the civil war of 1966, so, apparently, you want a repeat of it. Azhigbakwa!

Nigeria is having issues, no doubt, but suggesting that there's an imminent war is something I will definitely resist because war isn't ever going to happen!

As regards Rochas, go through my comments here and see where I hauled him over the coals several times. Yes, my assessment of his administration is objective even though my people aren’t benefiting from his government either.

That said, I firmly believe that Imo is our state, any development in Owerri or anywhere else for that matter is a welcome development.

But you lads from Orlu seem to rant (I am afraid it's true!) the most, forgetting that your people have been in power for nearly 12 years. Ohakim, our ineffective governor, wasted our four years in power, yet we don't shed crocodile tears here, like you Orlu chaps.

What about all the previous years before IPOB or pro-biafran organizations came into existence. What stopped them from investing in Igboland? What was the excuse then?

Also a typical Yoruba or Hausa man will live in Uyo, calabar and portharcourt for decades but will never build on single house or factory. What is the excuse?

Igbos need to be wise. Blind investment all over Nigeria needs to stop.

For those Igbos who have invested heavily in the North and West, I have nothing personal against you. Its your money so you can do what you please with it. But start reinvesting part of your profit and wealth back home. Even if its building house in your village, its still much better than having none.

Honestly, I was seriously disgusted when Rochas and his foot soldiers were celebrating Dangote warehouse in Owerri. Like seriously? An ordinary warehouse that will contribute next to nothing to the economy of Imo state except leading to capital flight!! Dangote is building a refinery in Lagos, he has a cement plant in Kogi, a noodles plant in Calabar, a tomato factory in Kano, a cement plant in Benue and several others outside Nigeria yet he has nothing significant in the SE despite our relatively high purchasing power yet all he builds in our region are mega warehouses to sell products he manufactured elsewhere and some people are even applauding this Shylock businessman!? Someone even blamed it on our demand for Biafra, are you kidding me?? Will the government or Biafra seize investment of foreigners if/when it is actualized?? Who/which government does such?? Has the governments of Senegal, Ethiopia and the rest where he has his investments confiscated them? If not then why will it start with Biafra?? The simple and honest truth is that these people for some inexplicable reasons just don't like us. The same trend also occurs in the churches, Igbos contribute the highest money to churches Winners, RCCG etc yet non of them has a university anywhere in Igboland but they have all over yorubaland and even outside Nigeria yet our people continues to pay tithe to all these churches!! The capital flight we are losing to these churches can never be quantified and would make any sane person go crazy if just one Sunday offerings/tithes/donations going to these yoruba churches are calculated. Winners always organize a yearly pilgrimage to Ogun state and is now building a massive estate there too as well as Universities in Ogun and Kwara states. We claim to be wise as a race but we keep behaving like incurable mugus in Nigeria. Believe me, if only we could understand the extent of economic power we possess courtesy of our large middle class and move 70% of resources to our homeland or home grown businesses the SE will certainly become the envy of all, and it starts with having the right mindset.

Speak for yourself.

Take it or leave it, a restructured Nigeria is better than a divided Nigeria. Every tribe is important in this entity - what we need is to fix the failings of the as-is system.

Nigeria is too connected to be divided now. Nobody will allow anyone secede - go and write it down. Our people must insist on restructuring not secession.

Besides people take their businesses where they have huge growth prospects. You cannot compare Lagos, Abuja or Port Harcourt to any state in the east because those cities grew and people took their businesses there. Again, there's money flowing in those cities, which offer growth prospects to businesses.

Igbos fought a civil war for years, and the cities were stifled of funds even after the war. As a consequence, Igbos left the region in their numbers in search of greener pasture. So, you shouldn't expect people to be taking their businesses in places where there's seemingly no money flowing (at least that's the impression we make when we leave the south east in our droves).

Speaking of agitation, trust me, I think the south south people are the most cheated. Give them peanuts, ruin their lands and waters. Yet those guys don't call for secession.

We must retrace our steps

Secession is hurting our region
Although you have good sentence structure but you sound absolutely incoherent and confused, so I won't blame it on illiteracy rather it's a case of crass ignorance at display. Firstly is P.H not in the East? Are you kidding me, you want to compare Igbo cities with Lagos and Abuja the economic and political capital respectively of a centralized country?? And who told you that Biafra is not feasible? Are you in Nigeria at all seeing all that is happening yet continues to live in utter denial?? I can tell you categorically that Nigeria is the world's number one country that is most likely to break up in less than 10 years. You don't need to be a prophet or CIA agent to know that, anybody who is intelligent and discerning enough should know that already and believe me, it's not wishful thinking or doomsday prediction but it's based on the facts on ground. I agree with you that we should pray against outright war and hope that events will happen peacefully. APC will give Nigeria restructuring and Igbo President. Nigeria is already on the move towards greatness and in a few months time those politicians behind the killings and their sponsors will be apprehended for the good of all. Biafra is not an option without Igbos in Southeast being united 1st of all. I was once an advocate of Igbo republic but I changed my mind after realizing we can't have a workable Igbo republic that will be merit based, equality based and justice to all.

This is exactly the problem with one Nigerianist. Their hypocrisy always show up whenever they try to defend Nigeria.

That's why most of them advocate the extra-judicial killing of IPOB members because they know they can never win a real debate without being hypocrites.

I really feel sad for them because defending Nigeria is the worst punishment you can give to a human being.

You don't accept that Nigeria is already at war, (you called it issues) because the war is not fought in your door mouth in your comfort zone outside the east side of Nigeria. Selfish
Don't let those who have lost men and wealth in the ongoing war hear you.

You suggested the Igbo prepare to protect its people from the marauders. But the marauders are fully armed - lock, stock and barrel. How do you stop them without war against them?? Run to the UN??

These are words on marble.

As much as i pray against war in Nigeria, everyday i see there is truly no way of avoiding a second civil war the way thing are going in Nigeria. The only thing is that this time, a lot more Nigerians will decide to fight for semi-independence autonomy to rule themselves than outright breakup of Nigeria.

A war will come to Nigeria at some point, but it will have different set of combatants from the first civil war.

I pity those Igbos still going into the far north to invest their life's savings. They will lose everything and unlike in the past, not even their fellow Igbos will pity them this time.

I think there will be no war.
I think this region trying to create this war will have a rethink because, Ecowas, African Union, British parliament etc are all have started taking practical steps to prevent it. Inside Nigeria, the divide line in war time now will be based on religious/regional divide and no more the sym metric Biafra vs Nigeria war, but asymmetric war....more like fulani herdsmen killings, government securities etra judicial killings(because they are nepotically...I mean the fulanis occupying the highest positions within the army, airforce and other government security agencies. Internet, social media, IPOB, all have done marvelous jobs in bringing Africa/the world to focus on Nigeria. Former US ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell now with the council on forign relations just released a book "NIGERIA; all you need to know about NIGERIA"....3 days a go. The election is right around the corner. I also think that I have started seing some signs...towards creating state police. So in a nutshell, all these signs indicate an asymmetric strategy that will not fulfil its agenda. "Nigeria will survive this".

The size of Nigeria is the first major problem it has. Nigeria is large and slow that people might be dying in one end and people from the other end cannot even hear it.
Nigeria is so large that it has become too slow and clogged up with underdevelopment
Nigeria is so large that scarce resources gets snatched by the leaders for selfish reasons and some might never find out.
Nigeria is so large that things can never work in it.

That's why we need our own country where everyone understand each other and we can have more opportunities to better ourselves without being pulled back by your northern brothers who are hell bent on returning to the 18th century lifestyle.

Well said.

Igbos alone number over 40 million. There are so many countries that have less than 1 million citizens.

Those saying that Nigeria is a big market is forgetting that so many west Africans and Central Africans come to Aba to buy goods.

Africa is a market of 2 billion people and growing.

The world is a market of almost 8 billion people. Why should igbos limit themselves to mere 160 million people.

I personally have 3 relatives that based in other African countries that are dollar millionaires today. They didn’t do it through Nigeria. They left Nigeria and tapped into the bigger African market.

Lol, APC to give Nigeria restructuring indeed. To the Hausa/fulani, restructuring is the same as breaking up. They are willing to maintain the status quo even if it means Nigeria not progressing. Nigeria can never be restructured except they are given only two options I.e restructure or breakup but the Southerners failed to grasp that golden opportunity when IPOB was threatening Nigeria with possible breakup instead, in their naivety they were busy condemning the activities of Nnamdi Kanu that was indeed the biggest threat to Nigeria's unity since the end of the Biafran war. I used to be an advocate of a united Nigeria with semi autonomous regions until I realized it was a pipedream. There is no way Biafra will not be merit based considering that Igbos naturally operate a competitive society. Again, you are mistaken republicanism with disunity. Igbos are Republicans in nature and believe in democracy whereby the community determines what is just after inputs and deliberations by the nobles. Regardless of how we may differ in opinion sometimes, the Igbos will never carry arms against each other and the fact that it will be religiously homogeneous also makes it easy for their to be some form of theocracy whereby the church would have a huge moderating influence over the country. Again, I laugh when some of us keep trumpeting the demand for Igbo presidency as if it will change the situation of Igbos in Nigeria. An Igbo man being the president of Nigeria would make little or no difference because there is a huge structural imbalance in the polity that will always make Southern presidents to be at the mercy of the North. In fact, what they did to GEJ is a child's play compared to how they would harass the unfortunate Igbo president and he would still end up working for the north in order to save his neck. Worst case scenario of Biafra will still be better than what we have in Nigeria today.

Lemme respond to your comment.

I've taken some time to study Rochas

One thing I've come to realize is Rochas lacks administrative and leadership skills..yes, he's a mere philanthropist - a wonderful orbit he should have maintained instead of going into politics

So, when you guys go criticizing him, he pays no attention because he has no idea what leadership is about. He's just building indiscriminately, which is why I am worried that he may ultimately leave Imo State as the Nigerian state with highest number of uncompleted or abandoned projects

But in all fairness to him, you know that anyone can contribute to strengthen our police, including state governments, corporate organizations and high networth individuals

7) Mention the most critical issues restricting the state Imo state from accelerated developments and generating higher revenue internally?
cool Mention the critical issues that were contributing to push Imo state citizens out of the state before?
9) What made World bank, the UN, reduce poverty index of Imo state to first five lowest in Nigeria despite there low Fed.Revenue allocation??
10)What led the drastic reduction of Imo state migrants with-in & out of Nigerian far lower against other Ibo states Including Anambra/Enugu?
11)Why is it on record that While other Ibos are running away from their various states only Imo citizens are rushing back to their state why

Must youuuuuu criticize Ehh? As an unbiased social critic or Imo state lover you should have Commended Gov. Okorocha for all his infrastructural development in Imo state. Instead of Sharing the money to the same elites who can afford to keep there Children in USA, UK, ABUJA and milk the state dry to always be of the same status decade by decade as it was the case before Okorocha.

Oya Answer These Questions And Get Sense Comm On

1) Were are these Projects located?

5) Were are local council and local Governments located within Imo state or were?
6) As crazy as you think Okorocha is, Do you think that he will just wake up every morning and start spending without a set down program?
7) Mention the most critical issues restricting the state Imo state from accelerated developments and generating higher revenue internally?

Your question No.6.

Answer: In Imo state's annual budget, building FEDERAL prisons and police barracks were not, and could not have been reflected. It's therefore an impeachable offence the use of state funds to build FEDERAL prisons and police barracks.

Question No 5.

The 27 local councils of Imo state are not all located in Owerri capital territory; only 2 to 3 councils are.
Therefore it's a gross violation of government procedures and an impeachable offence, to use allocations meant for the other 24 Lgas to build infrastructure in Owerri capital territory.

Question 7

Answer.
Pipe borne water and good roads all round the state are crucial for economic development of Imo state.

But gov Okorocha does not address these two important subjects.

Let's face it: do you honestly blame them when are only are the only Nigerian tribe always clamouring for secession instead of restructuring?

It's only Igbos who have separatist groups while the rest of the tribes in Nigeria have militia that uses force to get what their people deserve. But the Igbos want out!

The last things an investor wants to experience are political instability and uncertainty.

Sincerely, I don't blame them because every move Nnamdi Kanu, Ben Onwuka or Ralph Uwazuruike makes has a far-reaching negative effect

Dangote has build factories in other African countries. Are they a part of Nigeria? Do you blame their founding fathers?
