Sappers lodge, inside the Bonny Army cantonment. It has a seaside lounge/restaurant but the room is very very basic, its okay if you're just spending the night. Its 15 mins walk to the embassy. mzomaks: 2 Likes 1 Share |

mroluyemo:Type your course in the search bar to check old transcript in previous parts to guide you. The cost of study seems huge and you may have a hard job of convincing the VO on why you're expending so much on your education. |

quinzypearl: When vo asks a grad student about test, he is more likely asking for gre or gmat. Toefl is not a standardized test. So even if you get a high toefl score, it will still not add up. |

All these super stories of fully funded people who got rejected. You guys must really think these VOs are fools. The simple fact is I genuinely do not believe any transcript with that information because I know the value that is attached to being fully funded. Are you telling me, the US govt was willing to cough out hundred s of thousands of dollars for a student and another member of the same US govt will reject that person's visa appeal? I can't relate. Nairaland is a faceless forum and as time has shown, people can type just about anything sometimes to invoke a reaction. Being fully funded, IMHO, is the surest bet of getting a visa. It may not be 100% foolproof but the situations extenuating such a circumstance will have to be something really shocking on the appellants part (like showing sympathy to extremist religious views on the DS160). I will even say 95% of people who are fully funded get their visas...once. After this, you can now look at the quality of school, financial capacity of sponsor, presentation by the applicant, serendipity etc. 11 Likes |

Good day everyone, just felt like posting few things on here. Coming to the USA is a first step in a right direction, dont let anyone tell you otherwise, however pls and pls have a plan. i am a newbie here, today marks my 43rd day, school is underway and i am trying to settle in, but trust me there are days frustration walks side by side with me. I know for most (like myself) its all about greener pastures, but then HAVE A PLAN. be prepared, dont just get visa and come with barely 1000$ to your name. people do that all the time and say they will hustle it tru, you may (or not), but its an avoidable disastrous situation in the making. have plans that will cater for your needs for a minimum of 6 months. Coz to be honest, dem no dey share work for street, and as an F1 holder, you cant work (legally) and the school youre in may or may not have employment opportunities for you. Again, dont think youre coming with the hope of relying on anyone, the friends family members (except its direct and immediate) you have would turn out more useless than useful (at lest 80% of the time). Be ready to be innovative and be ready to admit all youve got is yourself. Be independent (ask questions regardless), but plam for yourself such that you can stand on your two feet for as long as you become better submerged in the system. if youre coming with the hopes of the friend you have here without your own plans, sorrry you will most likely be disappointed. I have an elder brother here, who is more like my GEE, but i am charting my own path, i only ask for advice and directions from hom, i am not staying on his neck, we are not even in the same state (thats not to say we wont be linking up now and again). Again, have a plan, go to school, if you wanna stay back, have a plan... have a plan.. even if you forget all i just typed, pls have a plan.. i mean a workable plan. the system wasnt exactly built to favor migrants or foreigners so youve to know youre swimming against the tide, as such u need extra push. its not easy, but its doable. its exciting after getting visa and many people get carried away with the harsh realities theyre coming tp face. have your money, for personal expenses, if youre rich enough get a car. Get a license, make sure you come with ur naija license as this will fast track your license (i aready have mine). Good luck to the ones still on the hustle to get visa, and for those that have gotten theirs and will soon be here, pls have a plan. i am also a newbie, still finding my way around, no much friends (yet), very lonely sometimes... and to make matters worse i dont even know when next i am going to get laid (Tinder dey dull me ) but i serve a living God, i know he will come tru for me. have a great day everyone. 28 Likes 2 Shares |
