Aregbesola’s chief of staff coasting to victory in APC primary With 50,451 votes in 12 local government areas, Adegboyega Oyetola, chief of staff of Rauf Aregbesola, incumbent governor of Osun state, is inching close to securing the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the September 22 governorship poll. The results of the exercise are being collated at the party’s secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital. Oyetola is leading Najeem Salam, speaker of the Osun state house of assembly, who is his closest rival with a margin of 37,587. Salam has polled 12,864 votes so far while Yusuf Lasun, deputy speaker of the house of representatives, comes a distant third with 8,343 votes. The collation is ongoing. More to follow… 2 Likes |

This can actually be the big blow for APC as the oyetola is from Osun Central, a Senatorial district that has ruled for more than 11+ yrs out of the 21 democratic years of the State. afobam: |
Re: OSUN APC Governorship Primary Election Update (Gboyega Isiaka Leading) by jamaola: 9:45pm On Jul 20, 2018 |
jamaola:PDP just need a strong candidate from Osun West senatorial district, good campaign and set house in order. The likes of the former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola from Osun central is against picking candidate from any district other than Osun West, and has promised to back a young and vibrant candidate from the district irrespective of the party. He is presently a member of APC at state level, though on same side with Obasanjo. Osun west has ruled just 22 months, less than 2yrs of Osun state's 21yrs Democratic rein |

[quote author=raumdeuter post=69560679] To win an election you first need to be popular that to have a good party structure on ground to contest Omisore might be popular but what is the structure of SDP on ground in every ward to win an election, That is why popular candidtes look for strong platform to contest. That is why Atiku is coming to PDP instead of going to Labour party or ADC The election is still between APC and PDP. Who will PDP present will determine many things, Ademola Adeleke is not Isiaka and many people don't even think he deserves to be state governor, the only thing he has is the Osun West and that his elder brother is Isiaka If Omisore, Adeleke and Oyetola contest, Omisore takes Ife, Adeleke takes Osun West, Oyetola will take Central plus Ilesha(due to Aregbe) and win many votes across the state because of the existing APC structure, support from other governors, mobilization money etc APC has won Ondo and Ekiti states where they had to face an incumbent from opposition, How much more a state that has been APC for 8yrs Performance wise, Aregbe didnt do badly, he did many roads and infrastructure, he connects with the local people the only thing people have against him was the salary issue which is prevalent in every state[/quote These are exact points I was trying to raise for johnnyactivist that keep shouting pdp would win........ |

jamaola:i don't think it matters! For instance in ekiti, the south hasn't produced a governor in 19 years(1999-2018). It has been between the north and central. In the just concluded election, the PDP's candidate happened to be from the south while ApC picked it's candidate from the north. It's appalling to tell you that the APC governor elect(Fayemi) won in all senetorial districts including the south. |

afobam:This looks ordinarily great, but some questions need to be ask, with the high figures been release what actually is the total no. of registered voters in osun, how many of them are card carrying members of APC?,the figures for this primaries need to be kept for future references after the elections proper, the Apc is too full of deciet, deception n propaganda. |
Re: OSUN APC Governorship Primary Election Update (Gboyega Isiaka Leading) by blazer2018: 10:37pm On Jul 20, 2018 |
positivethought: The question i want to ask u is dat; is it only card carrying members of a party that vote during general elections? They have families and followers whose numbers can never be known...so it can't really determine much. |
Re: OSUN APC Governorship Primary Election Update (Gboyega Isiaka Leading) by positivethought: 10:55pm On Jul 20, 2018 |
blazer2018:your view just confirm my fears, isn't it only card members of apc that are suppose to vote in this primaries?,why bring the general elections into it?,by the way we never hear of how many security were deploy at the polling units n we have not heard of balot box snatching or burning!,what about the cost of the elections n how the funds for it was raised, apc is full of deciet deception n propaganda so this whole thing still create doubts in descerning minds. 1 Like 1 Share |
