Mourinho : ''Ashley Young is a possibility to play right-back,
but is on holiday. I don't know if he fancies to be back for
that and put himself to be available for the team or stay on
holiday.''

Mourinho: “Victor Lindelof is a possibility, he is not a right-
back but is a possibility, he starts training next Monday. I will
send people to Manchester to train with Victor, it makes no
sense for him to come to the United States.”

Mourinho: “I found out Martial was going to Paris when he
told me two or three days ago. When it is personal reasons,
everyone analyses that the way they think is the correct way
and he decides is very important for him to go, nobody has
the right to stop him to go."

Mourinho: ”We played a system (3-5-2) we don't play in
many times, so good experience. We made a couple of
defensive mistakes but with the ball we were dangerous,
especially when fresh, our problem at the moment is to play
90 mins, but for 65 mins we were very good.”

Mourinho: “We had a chance not to just score goals but
score beautiful goals. The counter with Ander in the first-half
and Alexis in the second... And in the end the penalties
means nothing but I think football fans enjoy the penalty
shootout and was good fun."

Yes.

And you think telling everybody (including clubs we're negotiating with) that the man in charge of negotiations will have limited time to conclude business is wise?

That their earlier thought that he's out shopping for alternatives because their deamand is too high is completely wrong?

Or you don't think time is an important factor in negotiations?

Now that he's revealed that info to everyone, players will be trooping in to OT right, left and center abi?

Larride, not everyone is a Mourinho hater. Learn to read and understand my comments first before criticizing my opinion. Your indignantion is misplaced and your view is totally parochial.

I’m sorry if that post was received wrongly by you, I am not defending Mou here, if you go back to several page back, you will see most people on here including me agreeing that maybe Mou is satisfied with his squad that’s why we have been slow in the TM, the consensus was that there will be no excuse for failure from Mou this season as he has refused to strengthen the glaring deficiency in the team.

Do you know the anger I felt when I hear that in fact the reason we are dragging foot is because the person who is suppose to conduct our transfer activities is on vacation, like wtf. angry This is not about defending Mou but about wanting the club to do the right thing, let’s just hire a sporting director that won’t go on vacation when we need him to be active. angry

As for your first line, what makes you think we are negotiating with any club? What makes you think we are shopping for alternatives? The man who’s suppose to do all that is on vacation. I’m so pissed.

I didn't receive that post wrongly. What you said is what you said. You may not defend Mou every time but in that instance, you were defending him.

larride:

Is there anything wrong in saying the man that’s supposed to handle our transfer activities is enjoying himself with sunglasses under a tropical beach.

It's wrong. Especially the way he put it. He could've used an euphemism to convey his feelings- that the board is acting sluggish or unconcerned or whatever he feels they are, without revealing that piece of information.

And what makes you think we aren't currently negotiating with any club? Does Ed or the board always hold a press conference when they start pursuing the signature of a certain player? Transfers mostly get leaked when they're at an advanced stage, and not all of them are leaked. Silence doesn't always mean nothing's happening.

I understand you're boiling with holy anger but that's just the way it is.

Me, I don gba kamu. Not expecting much this season. That way I won't be disappointed if we don't amount to much and if we spring surprises this board no go contain me.

Doing the right thing or not, Mourinho shouldn't have under any circumstances, revealed to the press that the person who is supposed to be getting things done, is on a holiday.
Everything is all about perception. When you want to buy something, you'd want the seller to know that you have other options. Any player we go for now might be perceived as 'desperate signing', which will put the selling club in a more advantageous position to rip us off.

I think thats what most fans are angry about.

So what are the needs of your rivals like City Chelsea and Spurs and how have they addressed it.

Man Utd has done more in the market than those 3 clubs
Chelsea have signed Jorginho to partner Kante, addressing their deficiency in midfield...
They are looking at strengthening their CB position as well as RB with Rugani and Hysaj (not sure I got the spelling right), they only narrowly missed out on Golovin for their AM position even though he wasn't really necessary in my assessment...

Man City have signed Mahrez for their RWF position, an improvement on Sterling and he can play the AM position or interchange with Bernado Silva innthe absence of D. Silva...We also saw how much Pep went in for Fred in January and now, Jorginho, he is trying to get a competitor and potential replacement for Fernandinho without a drop in quality...Elsewhere, the squad is pretty much balanced especially with Mendy back fit... Citycan even do without any addition (s) but they're still actively trying to strengthen...

I need not say much about Liverpool who have gone about improving the quality of their squad with some very good signings.

Spurs are the only other team who have been slow off the mark but having a squad that have played together for this long, they can only get better...

Arsenal have also strengthened their squad with Papathadopoulus, Lichstener and Torreira who adds much needed steel in their midfield...We hear they're also trying to get Nzonzi, a top performer in midfield.

Likewise Man Utd have strenghtened by getting Fred for Central midfield to partner Matic and Pogba which was identified as a weak point last season

Also Dalot has been signed to Right back to deputize Valencia and inject youth into the position where you complained about old people
If we are to go by completed deals and not runors, Man Utd have actually strenghtened 2 of the key areas where weaknesses was identified

You mean Man Utd strengthened by adding Dalot, a teenager who prior to now only managed a couple of games in the Porto first team? Hell no...
Talking about old age, it has always been your excuse not mine...The issue with Valencia has nothing to with age rather his technical deficiencies and when we clamour for a replacement, we have in the back of our minds, a technically gifted player with age on his side...Dalot is one for the future, he doesn't in anyway close the gap in our fullback positions...

You fixed the gap in your midfield

If you are saying Dalot is not an improvement, nd old age is not your excuse, I wont want to hear anytime during the season that you have old players o cos you just said age doesnt matter

What technical attribute does a Full back need to have? City won the league last season with Walker and Deplh, what are their technical abilities? Chelsea won with Moses and Alonso, before that Leicester won with Simpson and Fuchs,
So what do these fullbacks have that Valencia doesnt have.

City's overall possession game did a lot to cover for Delph and his inadequacies as a LB, if he played for a team other than City, he'd have been exposed big time.
Alonso is technically gifted, you can't compared Valencia with him.
For the kind of game we play, we need top performing players in virtually every position since Mourinho has failed holistically in his bid to build a team that can cover for the inadequacies of some of the players.

If Harry Macguire joins united.
I will exercise my right to take back all the mean things I said about the nicely shaped young man.

All a football manager needs is a phone to work, the director has Jose list make we see how many we fit get before league start.if cfc can say no to 60million for 29 yrs old willan (I still never even believe that story) then thing must be crazier than we're used to.

You can't compare the requirements in one club with another, several factors come to bare when talking about players and their suitability for a set up, for instance, Pep and Man City will first consider a defender's ability on the ball rather than his defending abilities because they know the set up at the club permits them to overlook certain qualities in a defender.

Leicester, when they won the league relied more on counter attacks thus all they needed were good defenders rather than technically astute fullbacks cos their status and fans expectations permitted such...

At Manchester United, we are expected to attack most times than not as teams tend to sit back when they come up against us thus we need technically sound fullbacks who are adept as auxiliary wingers to do damage and that's where Valencia fails...You can't have hectares of space and yet can't deliver a good cross (same problem with Moses), it's not acceptable in the long run...
And please, winning the league is not a standard to judge defenders, we have seen average players played and win big trophies, doesn't in anyway change the fact that they're average...

I really Dont understand the excuses you are giving for the kind of fullbacks or players we need to have at united, technically or not.

The coach should know what he wnts and do the needful, simple.

If Mou does not want to play attacking football, he will buy players that will play whatever style he wants and that will be different from what we fans want, which is imposing ourselves in a game aka attacking.

You said at united we are expected to attack, that's what we fans think, but it seems Mourinho has a different perspective. You can recall the chants of attack! attack!! attack!!! In some of our games and frankly speaking even average teams are not ready to sit and soak pressure from us again, they actually come out to play because there is no fear factor again.

So the question now is what technical ability is Mourinho looking for in a fullback that fits his style. Remember it seems a wolrd cup semi finalist in Ashley fucking young will most likely be one of our fullbacks. Does that tell you we will be attacking from the fullback or defending?

I hope this season turns out better especially in terms of general play and the eagerness to put teams to the sword by aggressively imposing our style in a match. Season never start so let me wait and see THE IMPROVEMENT from last season.
