Hello house... I applied for a Study Permit via paper route on June 26th and received the refusal letter on July 24th. The reasons for denial was Purpose of Visit, Family Ties and Financial Status. I got to find out about this thread not long ago. I studied Project Management, have worked as a Project Manager for over 7years and got admitted for M.Ent (Master of Entrepreneurship). These where the documents I used for the application:

School Admission Letters
Term Tuition Payment Receipts
SOP
1year SOA (Inflow 34m; Outflow 28m; Closing Bal. N5.1m)
Employment Letters (Old & New)
6 months Payslips
Birth Certificates of myself & siblings
Sponsor's CAC Docs (Sponsor was my place of work)
Sponsor's 6 months SOA (Inflow 82m; Outflow 75m; Closing Bal. 4.5m)
Bank Reference Letter
Police Clearance
Sworn Affidavit/Board Resolution by Sponsor

Though i am yet to order for my GCMS notes as I am still trying to pull myself together but I am having a feeling my financial status is the major reason i was refused TRV.

Please i wish to ask, is it okay if i re-apply to another school in Canada? Do you guys think it would be an issue to a VO if the school of admission in my 1st TRV application is different from the school in my 2nd application??

Please i'd like your thoughts on this. Thanks guys.
Sorry for the delay. First I think the main problem is "purpose of visit" cos you studied project management and worked in the same field for around 7 years, the vo would expect you to go for Masters in the same field. Try and get a Masters admission in the same field and I see you getting your TRV.
Another point I will like to bring out is the aspect of your sponsor, if you must use one let him/her state the amount he/she will be committing towards your studies and since he is a third party (not your parents/siblings) he should transfer the said amount into your personal account.
About you applying to another school, the vo won't have any problem with you applying to any school so feel free to do so.
Lastly and very important, I think with a profile like yours(7years working experience) you should try the express entry (though I don't know your age range).
I hope I was able to answer your questions?

@mcobex @jnyuwa02 and the other house mate it is possible for me to use my sponsor personal acct statement with balance of 5m and fix deposit certificate as proof of fund.
Yes you can, but most importantly how much is the sponsor committing towards your studies? It's not just about the money in your sponsor's account but the amount he/she is willing to give out.

Can anyone help me out here - do I need to attach my SoA (is it a must kinda thingy?), when my sponsor has got sufficient amount in his bank account. I'm thinking my sponsor's SoA is enough for my application. Please does anyone think otherwise?

goingforward,

I will advise that you should wait! Nowadays, online applications takes time before they update upfront medicals, when they eventually do so, it immediately moves to review of eligibility which means that your application is getting to a close and a decision will be made any time soon within the space of 3hrs-48hrs. I don't buy the idea of sending a mail for them to update your medical result.

This is my advise.

All the best!

Apt advice. No need for such email now as your application is very well within time. I wish you the very best.

Someone here on Nairaland a few weeks ago I remember reading, shared he contacted them and they updated his upfront medicals reflecting pass in five days after he wrote them using the webform even before processing time elapsed. I helped another candidate do the same and Monday will be the fifth day, I will update the house.

Okay.. Thank you so much for the response. But do you think changing schools in my next application would matter to the VO? Please gurus in the house @jnyuwa02 @Frankrobbn1 @macobex i would appreciate your input.
emeka27,

Changing an institution to another, doesn't pose any negative effect on your application.

Hi Attorney,

I can still remember a moniker here (in order not to call names), who did an upfront medicals and was updated as passed after writing to CIC and at the end the outcome was a refusal. Well, to me I don't advise anyone to write to them, since the applicant has already included the E-medical slip with their application, let CIC do their job. Sometimes writing to them looks as if you're indirectly saying that they don't know their job and you're trying to coach them on how best to carry out their work.

I believe the merits of an application is what CIC bases it’s assesement, not on whether you wrote to them. This person I am talking about has not been refused I believe. You might be extrapolating meanings to what is not there. At any length, to each his interpretations when it comes to things like this and one has to follow his gut instincts. Prudence and wisdom used and they can never think you are coaching them. Just say you took upfront medicals and your online profile not reading passed and you would elicit their kindness in reflecting it. Thank them for their time and leave it at that.

If you convert CAD25,000 to naira you will get around #7.5million which is way beyond the raw cash(#5m)he has and the vo won't expect him to empty his account just for you, so I see a problem there. Cos I don't see him withdrawing from his fixed #15mill. When will the #15mill mature for withdrawal?

Ok, let your sponsor show proof of that from the bank and also state it in his letter of support. Do you have any other source of fund apart from that of your sponsor? or is the CAD25k for tuition fee and living expenses?

I appreciate your kind words!! Your NGO is wonderful!! Be sure to enclose certificate of incorporation and income tax clearance or exemption for yourself and the NGO. A pamphlet about your NGO will also help. If you need a sample of what this pamphlet should look like, pm me. Then in a detailed, concise LOE, talk about your academic plans, goals and aspirations and how that fits with the goals and objectives of the NGO continuing to impact lives and making a difference. Talk about your inevitable return to Nigeria upon the completion of your studies to continue with the kind of needed work in your community. Yes include all awards from your state. A letter from your local government chairman or state honorable commissioner in the field you are making a difference in, will go a long way in substantiating what you do. Your application is great!!

@Jnyuwa02.... Thank you very much for this, it’s a great eye opener..... I sent you a pm already...

Good Day Joe,

Please what was your experience during this 9weeks,can you re-share let me know.I applied online on the 1st of June Did biometric same time till now no medical request.3rd of August will be 9 solid weeks. I have been denied before via paper route within 3 to 4 weeks. Please is the way forward

My profile was updated few days after sending messages to CIC informing her that my application have exceeded the normal processing time. Kindly note that when i applied the processing time was 6 weeks but i sent the message when it was close to 9 weeks. The processing time is currently 9 weeks, so i would advise you send them message after 3rd of August informing them that your application has exceeded the 9 weeks PT as at when you applied.
Normally one would expect that final decision is reached quickly without delay because you are reapplying, but this is not always the case when it comes to online application. Someone recently shared her experience here where her 2nd online application was approved in 3 months, also we i read the messages of some applicants who reapplied via paper routes and got approvals within 3-4weeks.

All you need right now is to douse down all tensions, be optimistic and seek God's favour.

I hope this helps.
