Myself2: Yes, the project has been there since I was a child, but you must also give credit to the present government for reviving it, hate all you want, but this project will benefit not only my people but my state. Aladja is definitely going to benefit from this project, Once again, Kudos to the buhari led Government. 4 Likes |

Beautiful and very laudable. We must not criticise and condemn all the time just for the sake of it, We should also be giving kudos where and when it is earned. Steadily and gradually, the Nigeria we all can be proud of will be a reality. |

With Aladja steel coming back to life, Refinery in Ekpan - Warri and the current struggle to revive the warri Seaport I think Warri is the next big city in Nigeria after Lagos. #Warri #Waddoooooooo 5 Likes |

Efewestern: "Hate all I want ?? " Okay, you be bigoted and myopic all you want, but I must remind you that Buhari's govt HAS NOT revived the project, site inspection and an open declaration to do something does not amount to ACTUALLY doing the thing, especially when we are talking about a Buhari govt that has broken over 90% ohis campaign promises. So their intent is not good enough, let's see real work |

sarrki: Sarrki, can you please learn the difference between 'no' and 'know'? They have the same pronunciation but different spellings and meanings. Please do my eyes a favour and stop writing 'know' in place of 'no'. Thank you. Talking about the rail line, it has nothing to do agriculture, at all. It was initiated so that it could be used to move steel from Ajaokuta steel plant to Warri Seaport, for exportation. Now that Ajaokuta steel plant hasn't come alive, the rail line can serve other purposes including mass movement of people. I'm sure soon enough, a rail line will be built from Abuja to Ajaokuta which will join this one, then it will make transport from the South South and South East to the North a lot easier. 3 Likes |

obailala: Tell the Delta and Ajaokuta steel story to people who know nothing about state of things around those facilities. You want to ‘connect’ dead historical facilities that never operated while Trucks keep deforming our road networks to move imported goods from Lagos to major cities around the country. You want to connect Delta and Ajaokuta when trucks spend days to move food, cattle and grains from North to other parts of the country through bad roads. A living brain would connect Lagos-Extreme North, North -East and West-East; each route trailing the middle belt. I don’t blame you, I blame those you work for. 2 Likes |

StudentsNG:Once again you've just showcased the shallowness of your thought process by concluding in your head that "for me to say the rail was built to connect 2 steel plants, then I must be working for someone or I may be trying to defend someone." You really think everyone you meet online is always into your shallow apc vs pdp nonsense arguments?... Even when the matter has to do with Nigeria's physical development? I'd only say this once again just for the sake of others reading this who may not be aware of the history of this rail and who might just be in this thread to genuinely seek information; the idea behind the Ajaokuta-Aladja railway which was conceived, built and abandoned decades ago was to connect the 2 steel cities and move raw material. You claim Ajaokuta is dead and that is true, but having this rail being functional happens to be one of the pre-requisites to yank Ajaokuta Steel to life. Of course I wouldn't expect you to understand this simple logic, in your mind, you have a monopoly of wisdom and everyone else who thinks differently from your myopic reasoning circle must be a dead brain. Once again, you just exposed your mental status. 2 Likes |

StudentsNG:When people try to educate you, you need to listen. 1). When that rail line was originally planned, it was meant to link Ajaokuta steel in Kogi, to Delta Steel in Aladja within Delta state. The concept was to move steel ingots, feedstock, ore and finished steel products, from both locations via rail. 2). The railway line was already about 80% completed, before both firms were shut down. The rail tracks have remained unutilised until recently, when govt decided to complete it. 3). Now, it does not make any economic or commercial sense, to continue abandoning a rail line that was almost completed years ago. It would be better to revive it, don't you think so? A decision was therefore made to complete the railway line, and use it to transport goods and passengers from Warri (through other towns in the SS), to the North-Central area from where they could easily commute to Abuja, and other parts of the North. This would reduce the burden on the roads, and eliminate the attendant insecurity that passengers experience, while commuting on the poor highways linking both areas. 4). By the time the railway is extended to Abuja and other parts of the country, the expectation is that it would ease movement of cargo across both regions, and cut down the number of large trucks and heavy-duty trailers on that route. Cattle, foodstuff and other forms of livestock can still be transported from the North down to the North-Central region by road, from where it can then be moved by rail to the SS, and maybe further down to the SE, if adequate transportation by road from Warri is made. Logistics would be easier to manage in such cases, as distance would be reduced, due to the rail connection. 5). Hopefully, by the time the railway line starts operating, federal govt will have to dredge Warri seaport so that cargo can be moved by barges directly to the seaport. From there, it can be transferred through rail, to the North. Now is this tutorial simple enough for you to understand, or do you need more explanation? Kindly note: further tutorials would not be free, so get your foreign currency ready, as I only accept tuition fees in US dollars. |
