Smalling should have started but he withdrew at the last moment. Said he was injured in the warm up.

Bailly had to take his place.

Valencia is also injured.

Mourinho don't always get it right in his third season. I just don't know what is wrong with Mourinho and his third season. Either he is having problems with his players or his players will somehow be under performing to get him asked. Things always fall apart for him in his third season.

Not much should be made of preseason results as most of the first team are not available anyway.

Of all the fringe players the most impressive has been Pereira, and he should be given serious consideration for a starting berth alongside Pogba (who is the only automatic) in midfield.

Ceteris paribus Herrera should leave after this season let us see road with either the young players or a quality buy. He is an orogbo player without any obvious upside.

It's less than 2 weeks before the season starts and half of the first team have not resumed.

Even Jones that was rarely involved at the WC dey claim holiday.

Maybe these guys don't wanna play for Mou cos he constantly talks them down in pressers to make himself feel good.

Perreira was good once again. He's relishing playing in the no 6 role. Sanchez was good as well but we had little creativity to support him. Our defence, Mctominay, Mata and Herrera were all woeful.

Fabinho still remain woeful for Liverpool. Good thing he can play right back. Klopp had better start looking for a new CDM. Lol.

I think Mourinho shoulda played Greenwood. He was good in the little cameo he had in the previous games. He showed lot of presence as a striker and made himself constantly available for the ball despite coming on so late, others would have hid. I can only wonder what more he has in stock for us. And I will keep repeating that Kehinde should have come for the preseason tour. He would have done better than Mctominay or Herrera in the midfield.

I've always stated that Perreira's role is in a very deep midfield. I said this when someone was clamouring for him to play as our RW.

Tbh, I warmed up to him in the last preseason tour when he played as a no 6 but he was moved to a no 8 role in the last game and he looked rubbish playing as a no 8.

He hasn't looked impressive playing as a winger for Valencia either. More so, he looked bang average as a no 10 for the brazilian u20 to the extent that he was eventually benched, especially after so much hype from the fans and manutd fans. The only role he's been impressive is the no 6 role and I thought he won't want to play that role, not to talk of the fans who wanted to see him in a no 8 role but the fact is he's at his best as a no 6.

Perreira's been really good as a no 6 and can even give Matic a good run for that role. He also seem to be a lot quicker on the ball and passes more forward than Matic who often looks sluggish.

Our problem in the preseason has been our lack of creativity in midfield and lack of presence of a striker which Pogba and Lukaku/Rashford will likely rectify. When you don't attack or have little attacking powers, you give rooms for the opponent to come at you, especially not with our rubbish defence, More reason I would have loved to see more of Greenwood and Kehinde to have come to the tour.

Also, our defenders are bang average. Lawd have mercy. Both fullbacks and centrebacks have been full of rubbish in the preseason. Even the young defenders are not showing enough promise.

I don't expect Mourinho to be looking towards Lindelof and Jones return because they ain't that good as well although Jones often shows good tenacity but he's as senseless as Bailly while Lindelof is an ajebutter defender who loves to cower behind his partner and very poor in the air. He's not even that good on the ball to warrant any special treatment.

I think the issue about not playing in the World Cup doesn't really stand.. Cos they still trained with the players up to the latter stage.. But it's clear mou isn't happy with the board

So we are not getting new players and the one we have are getting injured.

Mourinho should do well to promote the right players. As simple as abc. I don't see what Mctominay, Hamilton even Gomes are doing at the tour.

Gomes is quite talented but a bit laid back who expects the game to come to him rather than takes it by the neck. He's also still young and not ready. He wasn't even ready for the u23 team let alone first team. No doubt his time will come soon because he's very talented. James Garner isn't ready too. Can't say much about Hamilton but I haven't liked the look of him in a CDM role. Maybe he will do better as an energetic box-box CM seeing that Daren Fletcher is his role model.

And I don't know if Mourinho could promote Riley for our fullback role. He's been the best head at the heart of the u23 defence. Already has enough experience 'cos he's been on a loan and he even played in the europa match under Van gaal and was fantastic in that match. Anyway, I've been impressed with him everytime and he can play both the fullback roles (LB and RB). And there's Kehinde who has impressed as a CM, wide midfielder and DM. Closest player to Koke/Matuidi but more technical and with lot of flairs.

The most annoying is sticking with Mctominay and Herrera in midfield yet expecting something different when we all know they are bang average and do feck all in the midfield. Forming stupid activity on the pitch isn't passionate display. You can't give what you don't have. More reason I find our move for Willian outrageous. That's another 'activity former' for crying out loud. Players like Douglas Costa are there for the taking but no, Mourinho would prefer a washed up bang average Willian to add to his squad of 'activity former' which he often label passionate display.
