Most of the players who go abroad do not even get reported as they go to less fancied places.

The best players often get the chance to go on trial abroad even before they join the league. Some never pursue football professionally. Unfortunately, those that go abroad sometimes end up with slave contracts and disappear. I have heard stories of Nigerians who went abroad to play football but ended up doing menial jobs in Europe to get by.

That's my point. Alot leave Nigeria unreported. Now compare the number of those who leave reported and unreported with the ones who justle for a contract with a local team, you will be amazed.
I'm taking my time to address this because, I've seen a lot of comments on this thread saying that Nigerian players don't even want to play in the NPFL. This very far from reality and not true atall.

If only you know the number of players who will kill to get signed up by junior Enyimba or Rangers. Not even the main team.

Sometime last year, Rangers held an open screening exercise for their feeder team. Over 2000 players showed up. Infact it took nearly 4weeks for them to conclude the screening exercise. The numbers overwhelmed them so much that they cut the exercise short. Mind you, this was for their feeder team. Not the main team.

This is the reason why I always clamor for the development of Nigerian football from bottom up. A lot of players in Nigeria are unemployed. Those "academies" do not pay them a dime. They will jump at the chance to sign for Lobi stars and earn 150k a month.
Let our comment reflect the reality on ground. That's all I ask.

I still remember one AFCON with Berti Vogtz as our coach where Aiyegbeni kept on missing goals and Martins was pleading for a chance. I think one was against Benin Republic. I think at last Yakubu scored and erased the memory of his misses.

Good striker but definitely was not as lethal for us as the media tries to portray him. I believe Martins would have done better if he got the run Yakubu had.
I kept wondering then what kept that guy in the starting line-up ahead of Martins.

Now I know I have been wasting my time with you.

Even a blind knows martins was there in the 2010 World Cup
Martins only came on as a sub in the game against Korea and of course attempted a stupid chip instead of just blasting the thing

Yakubu aiyegbeni is 3rd highest goal scorer in the Epl from Africa, drogba is the highest while adebayor got 101 Epl goals but our yakubu got 98 Epl goals playing for mid table and relegated threatened teams

Mind you martins is class but when martins played for Newcastle he didn't score more than 15 goals a season for a below par Newcastle

What do you mean.

Ighalo threw chances upon chances away when we played Egypt home and away at the last AFCON qualifiers, same happened against Tanzania in the same qualifiers.

After his goal against Cameroon, he's been totally goal-barren, and you say he doesn't deserve the sticks?

Ola aina will never move to Seria A and you know it

English players don't go outside their league because they are scared to flop

No English player in la liga or seria A,English got a good league but at least there should be 7 English players in seria A or la liga but I think they are none

That's not the reason at all in the past thier could have been some truth in that proposition but not anymore.

Firstly, they look at Seria A as a step down unless it's one if the very top clubs.

Secondly, they don't pay that much in comparison to the EPL with regards to youth players.

Players in the championship would probably consider it and will thrive thier thats the better players in the championship.

Finally, Obe of th greatest failings of the English is that they only speak one language unlike the rest Of Europe. This means you find it very hard to settle down in non English speaking countries. And eventually feel very home sick.

English players do not usually leave England for obvious reasons. If your comfort zone is good, you are more reluctant to leave. South African players for instance hardly go abroad. For them to go to places like Norway, they will be taking a pay cut without much career benefit.

Thank you

http://tv5.espn.com/football/nigeria/story/3584755/salisu-yusuf-backed-as-honest-victim-by-gernot-rohr

Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr has thrown his weight behind his assistant Salisu Yusuf, who is the subject of an internal NFF investigation after he was secretly filmed receiving cash from undercover reporters posing as football agents.

Yusuf has denied that the money was a bribe, describing it as a 'token', and Rohr has now come to the defence of his assistant

"I saw the video, and I saw what happened," Rohr told KweséESPN. "From my experience, Salisu is an honest man.

"Those people just want to make trouble, this is people just trying to catch some people," he added. "Salisu does not need that money, he is a victim of this situation."

The assistant coach, who doubles up as the coach of Nigeria's Olympics team and the home-based Eagles, is currently in the UK recovering from hip surgery.

However, he is expected to face the NFF's Ethics Committee upon his return, where Rohr is hopeful of a positive outcome.

"I hope the Ethics Committee will listen to him and not to those people," the German coach concluded, "because I know he is an honest man and a good man."

When the BBC published footage allegedly showing Yusuf receiving a cash gift from investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas on July 24, he became the latest high-profile African footballing figure to have been implicated in the ongoing bribery scandal affecting sport on the continent.

In footage filmed in September 2017, the coach is shown meeting with Anas's Tiger Eye agency and accepting cash ostensibly to ensure that two players are selected for the CHAN tournament.

Anas's exposes have already resulted in the disintegration of the Ghana Football Association after former president Kwesi Nyanyakyi was allegedly shown accepting a cash gift of $65,000 (£48,000).

Similarly, Kenyan referee Marwa Range had to resign his World Cup post, and was subsequently banned by CAF for all football-related activities, after being allegedly recorded taking bribes.

Range was one of several officials who were handed a range of bans by African football's governing body.

Soo Rohr is backing his assistant, I doubt NFF will sack Yusuf now

The more I think about it, the more I feel Salisu might have a case and won't be sacked. If Okechukwu and Rabiu Ali were really the players those guys offered Salisu money to play, Salisu can argue those players were already going to be on the squad regardless and Rabiu Ali is too old to move to europe.
His "gift" argument actually isn't a bad idea. Those guys messed up big time...didn't do it right

Collecting money from agents regardless of the excuses is ethically wrong especially when they represent players under you.

I don't care if the player in question was Messi, taking that money was wrong and Salisu must be fired.

Although money is not everything and feeling at ease , comfortable and wanted is more important to some players.

However, I can assure you Torino will not be paying more than some top Championship clubs.

But in a society where Egunje and these sharp practices are do normal it'd abnormal not to be doing it.

You will have so many who see nothing wrong.

Look at our politicians at the end of the day they reflect the people.
