Everything is wrong especially when the performance of the company is on point..

It isn’t about fundamentals ? Really? What is it about then ?

It should be about fundamentals. I'll very much much like to see it that way but right now it is not about fundamentals but rather it is about country risk.

So many good stocks are trading at low P/Es, and normally I should be buying but you know what? They'll even go lower before going higher because of this same country/election risk.

I remember neglecting the impact of US tapering in 2013 as explained in this forum but instead was clinging to only fundamentals. I was caught in it and paid for it with about 20% of my porfolio.

After the NSE had declined because of the tapering, we were waiting for the expected recovery but guess what? oil prices started declining, 2015 elections came and went, oil prices continued crashing. Good stocks like UBA lost about 70% through all these.

Plse when is UBA showing. Hoping for interim drop.

still i dont see anything wrong in that, the company might be sound but considering the situations in Nigeria now one can predict the direction of even the best performing stocks

Aremso you need to read from 2016.. that ridiculous prediction has been a common thing on this blog that some of them end up missing a good entry price.. Funny thing is when they charge their armageddon entry price they’ll not say anything until they are done buying then Out of the blue you’ll just see change of tones..

@Yayira
There is nothing wrong with predicting that a stock will go down.

Stocks can either go up or down. Why are people only happy when the prediction is in the upward direction?

From Yok's posts, we could all see the handwriting on the wall in the past months: Massive sells from the foreign guys...It's not about fundamentals, it is election fever. If they are selling that much, something will have to give: Prices will go lower.

GT is the biggest component of the MSCI Nigeria index. They haven't been dumping it so much. The price of GT in the next months will depend on whether or not they decide to dump it. It isn't about fundamentals. Same for all stocks in that portfolio.

Do not be caught offside. Better protect yourself.

He who has ears, let him hear.

On point here! Gauging market mood is important, even before you buy fundamental stocks. Why buy a fundamental stock for X naira when you can get it for X/2 naira in a few months. It's like deliberately losing money.

It's better to miss a mini bull than to lose huge money.

you are correct, i tried to buy whatever stock i want to buy latest December 27 and that has been my practice the reason is, any stock that does not fall further at that time will only result to price appreciation from that period onward

The election will make things get worst I agree, na history wey dey always repeat itself (according to una) but can they allow it happen “naturally” and not say things like “let the bear begins” on a good result ?

Good project. Mine is to buy stocks below 60+% percentage down at differently levels. The lower they go the better. I mean good ones.

The core of my trading is margin of safety within a reasonable time the market must revert back to the mean and above.

Is it not ironic that the same people who are quoting prices and asking people to come back in December are the ones monitoring stock price every now and then.

One would have expected that they will stop being active in the market until December if they actually believe their own rhetorics!

Very apt! They say they don't eat snake meat, but they are busy keenly watching others preparing snake meat meal and even advising them on the right procedures to take in ensuring that it is delicious enough.
