You mean no pepper??
In Yoruba jollof, the main ingredient is pepper... that's what give it the red color
So, saucy = peppery grin

That's not true.
What makes our jollof stand out is the tatashe and tomato paste. Simple. Tatashe- bell peppers is not peppery neither is tomato.
Pepper- habenero is added at your own discretion
Yoruba jollof, deliciousness. I used 3 habenero peppers to cook the whole pot (old pix btw )

Frying plantain is good,
not burning them is Choice. Not carelessness!

. . . And chaarly proposed in his heart that he will not defile himself with burnt plantain. cheesy

There is NO SUCH THING as "Yoruba" jollof !
JOLLOF IS JOLLOF PERIOD!
We don't even own the ORIGINAL RECIPE!
The basic ingredients for my jollof rice are : Fresh tomatoes, tatashe, chilli and habanero peppers, tomato paste, onions, curry, thyme, bay leaf...

Then the ingredients for my traditional rice recipe ( which people term " Igbo jollof" ) palm kernel juice, Onion, fresh or dry chillies, cray fish or dried prawns, smoked fish, scent leaf...

See that they are both different ( while one is red/orange in color, the other is yellow / mustard in color) ... So, no such thing as Igbo or Yoruba jollof!

JOLLOF IS JOLLOF!

Hay gawd! I should be ashamed of me. I'm Abian, and I've never heard of this. I'll ask my parents then grin
Hummm, never heard of anyu? You might have seen it. It look somehow like water melon, the inside is yellow and have small melon seeds (like egusi). I don't remember if the main egusi comes from it or from another type of melon though.

But you mentioned Yoruba jollof first na, didn't you? Or what did you mean by that?
Go back to your post I quoted.
You specifically said Yoruba jollof, and I showed you Yoruba jollof, cooked by a Yoruba person, still very vibrant in colour and not pepperish at all. My point was that it's not pepper that makes jollof cooked by Yoruba people red.

Yay you! I trust you on that. I have absolute faith in you. I can't wait for us to have them as TP (talking points).

I also have work to do myself. Just hope my brain starts keeping those dates.

Just got back too. So tired also. Went to visit my folks.

I know, I was just teasing you too and correcting the erroneous beliefs that Yoruba people and pepper are like 5 and 6.
Though I know we like pepper sha, and there's even a proverb in Yoruba that says a life that doesn't eat pepper is a short one grin
