sirkezman:Hmm, be sincere to yourself. If you were on a salary of N200k+ with career prospects in Nigeria before you left Nigeria would you have wished you came to Finland after the experience you've had in Finland? I knew some guys whom I met here who were asking if they could go and get the job I left in Nigeria. Don't be deceived, the plot is thick against foreigners and blacks in particular. You should know too well that their is glass ceiling here. I'm out of FI sooner than you think before you ask me what I'm still doing around. |
Re: Studying In Finland (free Tuition) by sirkezman: 3:54pm On Aug 15, 2018 |
I still don’t get the experience you are talking about. You came to Finland to study and you are complaining about jobs? Seriously? So you think if you go to other ‘better countries according to you’ things will be easier even as a student? Maybe you are the one who needs orientation about those better countries. As a student in a country with a different language to yours, I don’t think there is any problem with Finland. People are doing very good here. Stop discouraging others! presiade: 2 Likes 1 Share |
Re: Studying In Finland (free Tuition) by sirkezman: 4:11pm On Aug 15, 2018 |
Personally I think it’s unfair to discourage people by saying some countries are better so they shouldn’t come to Finland. There is a reason you couldn’t go to those better countries in the first place but after coming here and benefitting from the system, you can now say there are better countries based on hearsay and no fact. Everything a student faces in Finland, new student face it everywhere in the world. Only difference is the language barrier which is understandable. Some of us have our companies here, some work in companies, so many researchers but you think other places are better. All the best to you whe you leave and I hope you will also come back here when you get there and see that life is similar for blacks everywhere especially in countries where English isn’t the first language presiade: 1 Like |

sirkezman:I think I need to school you. You were given visa that allows you to work for 20 hrs/week or so, tell me the kind of jobs people get during their studies, I mean black people who already had bachelors degrees in Nigeria? During summer break you should get something decent. I will give you an instance. There was this Finnish chap who was in his last year, he knows next to nothing. He didn't know jack about software he was supposed to have mastered over the years, academically he has poor performances, I taught him many stuff. We both applied for internship positions that required no Finnish skills, he got offers from almost all of them, nothing for yours sincerely. Although job is not the main goal of coming to Finland, if you don't get to have the right industrial exposure in a field as engineering, you're just wasting your time. No one is asking them to give jobs anyhow, but let people learn and give equal opportunities. US is more attractive because you get Co-Op which gives you industrial exposure. The game here is called mental slavery. |

sirkezman: I made enquiries from Nigerians who were already in Finland before leaving Nigeria...all they told me was that everything was fine bla bla. When I got here, they complain in their small circles how Finnish will laugh at you and don't really like you, how the lecturers are not good at imparting knowledge... I have my personal experiences which I won't share in an open forum as this. I had my research position, I knew the reaction i got when I got it against the wishes of many of them, knowing that I did not speak any Finnish. Yes, people have some challenges in other countries but it's better, but those can be more easily navigated if you speak the language of the country. If I had gotten sincere responses from people when I was still in Nigeria, I would have continued saving for additional one year and be able to conveniently sponsor my MSc in the US or UK. I'm not talking based on hear-say, but real experience. I have many business ideas to execute but because I understand the game plan of the people, I'm not executing anything here. I know better. |

presiade:Bro, don’t make another decision when you are angry. These problems you stated here about Finland are obviously synonymous to non-English speaking countries. And about the job, you should quite know that their citizen or any EU citizen comes first before any third country citizen. I blame people that didn’t give you true info the way it is which made you have high expectations on Finland. Whatever country you choose henceforth, please zero your expectation in order to avoid disappointment like this. Things are not really flexible for blacks abroad in any white Man’s land in the world. In my opinion, Finland is better compare to some other EU countries. Finland is still one of the best countries in Europe. I have been there several times, and also been to many EU countries, so I know what am saying. Just look again before you leap. All the best. 3 Likes |

Ggetter50: I understand your point of looking before leaping again. If I'm not being circumspect, I would have jumped long time ago. I graduated over a year ago and have done my due diligence since then, so that I won't make the same mistake. Once beaten, twice shy, they say. Finland being one of the best countries in Europe is a matter of conjecture. I personally don't like the culture, and think many people don't as well. For that alone self, if anyone has a chance of processing other countries, I advice them to consider them ahead of Finland. The people and their culture are the most important elements in an environment. |

presiade:all the problems and hard time you had in Finland.... you will still face it everywhere you go.... even in our home land Nigeria.... am in Finland and it has never been easy even when i was in Nigeria, it has never been easy too but when you settle well and get used to the system than you will understand that Finland is one of the best in the world... and for people the that want to come here, is not easy oo but still never think twice if you have the opportunity to come 2 Likes |
Re: Studying In Finland (free Tuition) by presiade(m): 1:54pm On Aug 19, 2018 |
laepisanto: Well, no one is saying there are no challenges everywhere. But for me the system here is too repressive for my liking. The fact is that they intentionally configure their system in such a way that you can't succeed without depending on them, which to me is a form of mental slavery. For me the reason why people keep saying Finland is not racist is because most Africans here are not 'woke' and less sensitive. I won't limit my potential. I won't say much. At the bolded, I usually laugh whenever I read or hear such statements. I have been in here for 3 years and few days, and I have a full understanding of the system and the people but my conclusion is MENTAL SLAVERY!!! 3 Likes 1 Share |

Oh man. You'll be grateful for the thing I say. I studied there for a long time as well. And in the second year, there was a revelation. You can get it by just looking at interest rates for loans. And especially student loans. You won't find such a percentage in any part of the known world. Check it the best loan comparison site!! |
Re: Studying In Finland (free Tuition) by presiade(m): 1:27pm On Aug 21, 2018 |
Loans are mainly for citizens and if you're working (students inclusive). There is no need to add to a lender's risk asset when you're not broke. 7-8 % is already a huge rate compared to even Nigeria. People should be wiser. 1 Like |

Guys! When responding on supplementary doc, let's be smart pls. 1. Recall all you said during interview. 2. Check the documents you submitted earlier and be mindful of dates, keywords that addresses your situation. 3. Consistency is key. Presenting your bank statement again is the easiest of all actually. As it shows/ reflects old transaction as earlier shown in the previous presented till date. 4. Calm down when sorting your docs. Do not mix docs up. 5. Understand the questions as per the docs you are meant to present. 6. Let the attachment follow as they were requested. 7. Let them be really very clear. You can make it coloured scanned. 8. If you have got sponsor, carry your sponsor along to understand what is being requested of you to present. Make him/her know the severity and importance of this stage. So he will be on same page with you to check situations sorrounding the required additional doc. 9. Do not start doing unnecessary explanation to explain documents. But, if need be, be straightforward enough. May God help us all. |
