In just two epl games Alonso has been better, has a higher rating, won motm, Alonso has played similar number of crosses and long balls with higher pass accuracy and yes Mendy has more key passes, more shots and more dribbling.

Alonso before he joined Chelsea was statically better than Mendy before he joined City and that's Mendy's only great season in which he had 5 assists compared to Alonso's 3goals and 4assists in league games. Even then Alonso made more passes and had better pass accuracy and keypasses.

Every full back has defensive responsibility I have tried to be understanding in my comparison between Alonso and Mendy to give him a slight doubt that he may be better than Alonso but that isn't working. Alonso is better defensively than Mendy, making more tackles, interception and clearance than Mendy maybe it's because Alonso can also play at CB, or because Alonso is slower and has more defensive sense than Mendy but the fact is.
