I know this is a faceless forum but this doesn't speak well of you. You should know why you want to study a particular course. You should know why you're going for another Bachelor's. You should know why you're changing courses. You really should.

Why not post your mock transcript here so the house can help make it better?

Timotee:

Hmmm! This is a catch 22 situation. Deferring admission after visa approval is usually a tricky one as the status of your admission/registration is being monitored by SEVIS. The school is mandated to report to SEVIS if international students are registered or not. That being said, it is possible to defer on health grounds as long as there are valid claims to back it up and the school is also duly informed. You may still have lots of explaining to do still. The point for me though is that you are unsure when the Canadian visa will be ready or if you will get it. Note that the US and Canada share immigration database and your US visa is visible to the Canadian authorities. If I were in your shoes, I will take the bird at hand and go to the US. If the Canadian visa works out, you can easily relocate to Canada from the US. That's my opinion, though.

Thanks Timotee, for your response. The issue I have right now, is it will be kind of expensive if I have to pay the school fees for US college. While I already had 1 year tuition deposit in a Canadian College.

B.Sc Computer Science 3.93 (2014)
M.Sc Computer Science 4.9|98% (My school uses cgpa and weighted average (2018)).
No Scholarship, no GA, no GRE. Although i wrote PTE-A in 2016 scored 83/90. I doubt if people really knw PTE-A sef.
Had my interview on thursday, 16/08 @ d lagos embassy for 6:45am. That was my first time at any embassy, I neva travel before. After all the serenren, i got on the interview queue, the crowd was frightening I immediately felt like running to the toilet, the urge was so strong but i just forced myself to keep my cool cos i didnt wanna start the queue again. I dont knw why I was so nervous, my job description involves me talking to a lot of people convincing them to use our services. I just kept on praying that i should be directed to someone who would approve my visa, i dont care if he or she is nice or not. I was directed to a white guy at window 9, he approved the guy before me, he was deaf so he came with a translator, I just kept praying he should still be in the approving mood.
Vo: Good morning
Me: good morning
Vo: how are you today
Me: I'm fine and you?
Vo: passport please.
I passed it with my i-20 and sevis receipt.
Vo: why are you going to the united states?
Me: i'm going for a masters in computer information systems at boston university.
Vo: why do you wanna study this course?
Me: *i had reply i had been rehearsing but i heard myself saying something else* I want to be a Lecturer and I believe i can't give what I dont have. Apart from them having courses that are inline with my research field, there are also courses that I would love to teach. For example during my ug degree, we just scratched the surface of data mining, by my masters degree when we did it, it was mixed with machine learning and web mining. But i just realised that although they are related, they are different concepts.
Vo: what did you research on for your thesis.
Me: a personalized computer assisted language(yoruba) learning platform using machine learning techniques.
Vo: how does it work.
Me: at registration time, the users would fill a form with attributes like age, occupation, likes, dislikes. This data would be used to train the system on what learning content the user would want. The types of learning content are text, audio, graphics and video.
Vo: can u define data mining and machine learning?
Me: i did
Vo: where those the only two concepts u mentioned?
Me: no, i also talked about web mining (defined it)
Vo: can data mining work on a small data set, say 100 records
Me: *i was already thinking, d data mining questions neva do? Who sent me to talk about it now?* it would work sir.
Vo: *chuckles* are you sure?
Me: yes sir.
Vo: is data mining designed for large or small data sets?
Me: mainly for large data sets, but it can work with small data sets.
Vo: how did you hear about boston?
Me i researched online and my immediate boss studied computer science there too, but with a concentration in project management.
Vo: did you apply to other schools
Me:*finally, no more data mining lecture* yes, SNHU
Vo: where u admitted
Me: yes
Vo: so why boston
Me: because its an R1 institution, that is dey av high research activity which would be helpful to me as i would still do my phd in the nearest future.
Vo: who is sponsoring you
Me: my uncle
Vo: are you married or single
Me: single
Vo: do u av children
Me: no
* now this is the tricky part, ive always heard that people go deaf after hearing ill be approving your visa, so i focused on his lips and opened my ear well so dat least if im deaf, i wont b blind, ill read his lips. But i didnt hear anything oo, not even the i have approved your visa part. the next thing i just saw was white paper and my i-20, it took me like some secs to realize i had been approved, said thank you collected my documents and left the place, by dat time all the urge to go to toilet don disappear. It was just God, I wasnt asked for any document.*
I hope my epistle isnt too long.

Good day all. I applied to Reformed Episcopal Seminary to do my masters in theology . The programe supposed to start by Aug 15th , i went for interview but was denied then i wrot to the school to defer my admission to spring. They replied that they only admit students in Aug, Nov and March.
My problem now is, do US sch allow students to be admitted by Nov Contrarry to what is poular as in fall (aug) and spring(jan). Will it not be an issue in embassy?
Again i requested to be sent a new i-20 that will correspond with my date of new admission the school said that i- 20 is not issued two times rather they will effect the date if the new addmission in their system that consular will see it. What this implies is that i will still go to embassy with the old i - 20 bearing Aug while the one in the sys bears Nov if am to go by nov
What do i do. Pls pls your kind advice

Nov date is fine as well.... as long as it a credible school

Regarding i20 ....i would have thought the school should issue a new i20 reflecting the new dates . Using the old one that it would reflect on the system I am not sure about that

How much in naira is Wes?
And are you the one to send ur transcript to Wes or does it have to be official in soft or hard copy?
If your school issues transcript by hand, you can send it sealed, together with a copy of your certificate directly to WES.
Check the wes.org for the official price, multiply by 360, to get equivalent naira value.

to GOD be the Glory!
(Lagos Embassy, August 14th, 6:30am)
visa issued the following day.

me: Hello, how are you?
vo; pass me your passport and i20 (i did)
vo; what course are you going to study?
me;Master of Science in Healthcare Management
vo; where?
me; Atlantis University, Miami, Florida
vo; why are you going to study this course?
me; the deplorable condition of the healthcare system in nigeria has left nothing else to desire which explains.. (vo cuts in; i dont need you to tell me that, i need you to tell me what this course will do for you)..ok, the program will instruct me on the theories and practices of the modern healthcare management environment and prepare me to be able to plan, lead, control, organize, and evaluate quality improvement initiatives in our healthcare industry such that when i return, i'll be able to contribute largely to the reshaping and revolutionizing of the outdated and poor business models put into use in our healthcare industry in nigeria thereby improving public health
vo; why did you choose the school?
me; there are lots of reasons but i'll briefly mention about ten (she looked up scared and was like whaaat) no i dont need you to tell me ten, just tell me the top three..ok i wont talk about the various accreditations, approvals and recognitions, now, atlantis university offers me a curriculum where i'll get community experience which will help me to translate the knowledge gained in class to a real life experience and not just that, having learnt, having exposed and familiarized myself with the US healthcare system, i'll be able to contribute to the nigeria healthcare system on my return. also, financial implication, atlantis university is affordable as i'll be paying 6722$ per semester. the school has a central philosophy of small class size which facilitates a beautiful learning experience. Also entrepreneurial approach in their programs, case study analysis and simulations, hands on learning, field experiment experience which is what i analyzed earlier and also, multicultural diversity as the school offers lectures in english and spanish so i believe i'll learn spanish (she raised her head and nodded, and said oh spanish, i repeated, yes, spanish. then she sipped some more coffee i guess and got back to her typing)
vo; did you apply to other schools?
me; yes
vo; name them
me; Parks university, parksville, missouri, Westcliff university, irvine, california, Atlantis university, miami, florida
vo; so why atlantis over the others?
me; atlantis offered me master of science in healthcare management compared to the master of business administration in concentration to healthcare management offered by Westcliff. and master of science in healthcare management is the only business program in the world that can harness the reputation, resources and experience of the healthcare industry.
vo; did you take any standardized test?
me; yes. GRE, 311.5, TOEFL, 104
vo; what are you doing currently
me; i work as a histologist at Chronox laboratory owned by Dr. James Olumide Ashaolu who is the first scientist in the world to use bats for simulated microgravity.
vo; who's sponsoring?
me; my mum
vo; what does she do?
me; she is the principal accounting officer for osun state ministry of finance
vo; do you have her soa?
me; of course (passed it to her)
vo; (looked, calculated, typed, flipped through, then asked) does she have any side business?
me; yes, she owns three event halls (i wanted to explain what event hall is and she said she knows, then she returned the soa to me after she was done with it)
vo; have you ever travelled out of the country?
me; i've never had any reason to
vo; are you single or married?
me; single
vo; any kids?
me; hahaha i'm single, so, no kids
vo; (typed and typed and typed, and i was saying HOLY SPIRIT take over, HOLY SPIRIT take over) your visa is approved
me; sorry?
vo; your visa is approved
me; thank you.
vo; pick up your passport in three working days at isolo and at the port of entry you'll need your i20
me; say that again
vo; (she explained again)
me; ok thank you. (and then i left beaming with smile saying JESUS, I GOT IT! then i left)

now a day prior to my interview, i came across a link posted in part 13 of this forum about what vos wish applicants knew, i held onto two.
1. the more the documents you bring to the interview, the less truthful you occur to them, the less documents you come with, the more original you likely are.
2. vos likes complicated stories THAT MAKES SENSE although the stories might not be completely honest, but as an intending STUDENT, you have to make a whole lot of sense.
Also, all through my interview, the vo never smiled, she didnt even reply my hello how are you which was enough to dampen my courage, but NOPE!
then confidence, it doesnt come from imagining it, it comes from lots and lots of preps and researches and readings. if you are well prepared, your courage will be boosted. days and nights, i read and read, especially on here, then practices after the agent i contracted had prepared me with series of mocks
Now wait for it, GOD! i told my mum, please pray, my dad, my babe, then myself. GOD's role here can't be overstated!
i had been denied once (june 27th) cuz i wasnt well prepared i guess, but then, the agent i contracted said to me, lets do it one more time (not all of them are bad after all).

Will my school send it to Wes in hard copy or sofcopy (online)
Sooredaniel:
If you're requesting wes to send evaluated transcript to just one sch, then it's roughly 93k using your master card. You can't send transcript yourself, rather go to your former sch and request that they send to wes USA. NB: You have to make payment to wes first in order to regenerate a reference nos before going to your former sch. Good luck

OK u mean, I can request my school to send the transcript to me, then I won't open the parcel, then I send it myself unopened to Wes
Can I do it this way too?
Which copy of my document are you talking of again?

Hey sis, okay check your mail. I got questions

Omonoba1981:
Omonoba1981:
Seems no one here has idea about procedure for student that are applying for associate degree and what their chances are. And what are likely question to expect.

It is normally said on this thread that it is harder to get a visa when going for an associate degree but I believe you will get your visa as far as you present yourself well to the consular officer.

But have one question. What will be the implication if I call my school, and ask for my admission be differed to January 2019
My resumption day was to be 27th August. flight ticket is quite expensive right now. And I am expecting my Canada visa application, as the US visa was a backup plan for me (Plan B). Plan A is Canada but still waiting for result (its almost 2 months I have been waiting)

My school resumes on 27th and I still have 3 working days to pick up my passport. And that is exactly 27th. I cannot cancel the appointment cos it is of no use to,the only option is to go ahead and have the interview. I think you should defer to Spring 2019 (or the November semester everybody's talking about now). Now, you have enough time to get your visa, and prepare adequately for your travel.

Success!

If TWoods was very much around, he'd probably have asked what you'll be doing with your available time while others are busy "brainstorming" about your future on your behalf.

I don't support laziness...I don't. Your request gives me a certain impression about you. Now I'd rather you go this way:

1) Do a little Google research about the prospects and challenges facing your proposed course.

2) Make up your mind on how you intend to improve the observed challenges (the answers here easily forms the basis of your interest for this course).

3) Come back here with your answers for inputs and fine tuning. I can bet that even the fiercest critics here will gladly lend their ideas.

PS: Coming here to demand that people form an opinion regarding you on your behalf is what our "missing" brother terms spoonfeeding.
