No, the clannish government we have in Anambra State will rather take everything to his village than build something tangible in a commercial and industrial nerve center of the state. Aguleri today has more solid road infrastructure than the entire towns in Anambra State.

thank God someone is reasoning this way,obi did the same thing now obiano is following the same step,go to any village in awka north you will pity those people.

Federal Palace Hotel is older i think.

I mean we used to have presidential hotels in PH and Enugu, but today only the one in PH is working. The one in Enugu is now dead just like Nike Lake hotel owing to low patronage, mismanagement and government negligence.

I was dissapointed with Presidential Hotel, Porthacourt when i was lodged there last year because the building looked old and the lobby was uninteresting. But as soon as i entered the rooms, i realized that it's actually one of the best hotels in Nigerians. A government owned one at that. Their pool area is also really nice. Now contrast that with Concorde Hotel in Owerri, you will see that some state governments are just clueless. I was embarassed by Concorde's pool area.

Abagworo, I have a feeling that the SE will be far more developed than Rivers or be it Port Harcourt in the next 20 years.

There pace of growth and development in a short space of time is astonishing.

Further, I think Port Harcourt should be competing with Cities like Abuja, if not Lagos.

It really goes to show the extent of rape that followed the Biafra war on Rivers and how it has affected development and in deed the people of the state, from Ikwere, Ekpeye to Ogoni.

Port Harcourt committed suicide with it's Rigbo cultural policy. Lagos didn't and doesn't want Igbo people but they know what it means to their economy to have a large bulk of economically active people coming in and contributing. Port Harcourt went out of it's way to show hostility to these people in order to steal and keep 50 year old houses. The result is PH is a dead city. They have even moved the oil industry to Lagos because that was the plan to begin with. Only now instead of the entire east kicking and screaming about it, PH is left on it's own..unless of course, we count their brother in Bini lol.

I thought i was the only one who found the pictures of Porthacourt posted here so far very dull and quite disappointing. Gloomy at most.It paints the picture and impression of an enclave battling to break away from a forgone era. There are yet no sharp pictures or iconic projects as expected. I may be wrong though but i can clearly River State is pulling way below its weight considering the enormity of resources at its disposal. This may even be the general feeling in most Niger-Delta States. Delta and Bayelsa are like in perpetual sleeping mode with no development commensurate to their allocations. It took the 8 years of Akpabio to gave Akwa Ibom a modest facelift with notable futuristic iconic hyper-inflated projects.

Don't misyarn abeg. The weather here is cloudy and i drive why taking the shots with my phone. It is different from someone using a proper camera like spider while standing on the road snapping.

Ph is a great city and Wike is doing great.

Re: . by BeijinDossier: 6:28pm On Aug 24, 2018
My pictures are random and mostly taking either while in traffic or moving slowly. The city is a lot beautiful than you think. If a professional photographer like spider should take this same shots while standing with his camera you had see the difference.

Re: . by vanbonattel: 6:30pm On Aug 24, 2018
someone here is desperately tryng to prove a point that PH is ugly.
he should buy a better camera or if he's too poor to do that, he can sit back for others in PH to send pictures grin

Wat, I find most ridiculous about the Ikwere is their arrogance and pride.

In the sense that, they think, saying we are not Igbo makes them better.

Yet, I see them being in a worst place than the said Igbo.

Like, you said they lost it all and continue to lose.

From, Odili being used and dumped by OBJ to losing all their oil companies to Lagos.

As we speak, there are plot to carve out the entire oil producing part of Rivers state into a Oil River state, leaving the Ikwere landlocked.

Fast forward to today, Rotimi Amaechi is also being used and dumped.

After 4 years in power as Minister, not even Port Harcourt Airport does he have to show.

Realizing their mistake Amaechi is claiming Igbo in hope to use the 2023 spot of Presidency wen it comes East after missing that of the SS.

Nwanne, Ikwere really need to retrace their step and make peace with the SE, if ever they want to progress otherwise they keep losing.

I also agree that cities like Onitsha and Aba will surpass PH in the next 10/15 years. There's simply more economic activity, PH people are currently shopping in Aba regularly more than Aba people are shopping in PH. PH is probably the only shrinking city in Nigeria. If not for the bottlenecks in standard of living that plague Aba, there overtake of PH would have happened in this decade but it's moving slowly because Ariara market is a mess, the roads are poor, and there's little visible improvement.

As far as Amaechi and Odili, it' seems to be a local tradition. Elechi and co take this back even further. Now, the federal roads leading from the east to PH are in shambles.

This may seem small, but the dead of the federal road from the SE to Calabar is the reason Calabar is a dead city today. OWerri has become what Calabar was predicted to be ten years ago. It now has the vibrant tourism industry that Donald Duke thought he would get started.

Today, Uyo is quickly becoming the 'south-south' city that matters.

The best Amaechi could do last Christmas, rather than face the shame of Ndiigbo patronizing Enugu International Airport was to shut it down.

Asking them to use Port Harcourt. Forcing Igbo to make the long journey of traveling from Lagos to East and Abuja to East

Somebody need to tell him that the dayz Igbo did that have past.

Igbo dont even want to use Lagos or Abuja, they want it in their state if possible or Enugu.

He better not try that this year.(Christmas)

There are only 4 international airports in Nigeria- Lagos, Abuja, PH and Kano. The rest are all local airports. Kaduna even stand a better chance of being an international airport soon.

That's the problem with our people. We like sentiment than reality. There are only 4 international airports in Nigeria and these airports were the ones being Concessioned. Enugu airport is not part of it. Forget the building, because building does not make an airport to become international.

Actually, a lot of south east Igbos have moved into port Harcourt massively over the years and established so many successful ventures. Basically, they have gotten back 10 times of what they lost during the war. So many new developments and houses in port Harcourt is actually owned by SE Igbos. The ikwerre people are beginning to realize that their hostilities in the past didn't really give them any advantage over the rest of the Igbos. They are far much more tolerant today because of it.
