The Type S destroys any non-AMG W203. Except the 06/07 C350, I guess.

Probably i need to call you for a one - one discussion bro.

Yeah! The facelift C350 is usually forgotten, which is a shame.

Please, I need your assistance.

I have a 2000 C230 Kompressor (American Sport Edition, W202). A few days ago, I inserted the smart key which sucked in (the regular zip-zap sound) but doesn't turn on ignition to permit starting. I removed the battery head and replaced after about 15 minutes, still didn't turn to start. I had to leave the car parked there till next morning and the smart-key sucked, turned & started. Same issue recurred in the course of the days use which I removed and replaced battery head after 30 minutes whereby I was able to drive the car home. But today, the removal and replacement of battery head hasn't enabled the key turn & start as usual, I now notice the battery indicator on my instrument panel now glows faintly after key removal and clock timeout. The car is lying helpless in my compound.

I need your urgent assistance.

Thanks
Before inserting the key and trying to start the car always check to see if the gear lever is fully in the park position.

How's the AC now?
Is still the same and am in warri. My kasim mechanic says it is leaking somewhere. But I don't think its leaking. I think its more of a thermostat issue. At idling the ac is freezer chilling but at more than 40km/hr it cuts off and refuse to chill even wen u stop. Unless u turn off the engine and start it again.
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by igbizen(m): 10:50am On Sep 01, 2018
Hello house, if the battery to my w203 key is dead can it affect the starting of the car? My w203 has refused to start. The battery of my key died this morning.

The 4-cyl 1.8L on the C230 Kompressor is economical, although not much more than the 2.5L M272 V6 on the 2006/2007 C230. We're talking maybe a 20% difference in fuel consumption.

As for reliability, well, V6's have longer lifespans than i4's. Of course, you can expect to use the i4 M271 on the C230K till about 250k miles, although I've heard something about the harness going bad at high mileage...can't really recall. I'll check.

On here flip side, the M272 was introduced in 2006. Mercedes were still perfecting it for the first few years–06 in particular–hence the issues with balance shaft and the 7g-tronic not being that reliable. However...I'd still choose the V6 over the i4. There's just something about a V6 humming and growling that's sets it apart from an i4.

My personal thoughts on the fuel consumption aspect?
I drive a car with a 3.3L V6, for example, and my fuel consumption isn't thaat bad. Don't let gas mileage, especially when the difference isn't so much, affect your buying decision.

Ultimately, if I were you, you know what I'd look for? A 2005 C320. Facelift, bullet proof M112 V6, and plenty of power. A 2005 C240 is also fine, although it's not as fast as a 2005 C230K.

2007 C230>2005 C320>2005 C230K>2005 C240>2006 C230.
My order of preference, all things being equal. Of course, if you have a 2006 C230 and it's in perfect condition and has had the balance shaft fixed, go ahead and buy it. You can check if the balance shaft has been fixed by running a carfax.

Happy new month.

Your scale/reliability of these c-class series are on point.

Pls would like to know more bout this particular series I attached the picture of.

The inscription on the car is C240

Can u tell me a bit about it?

And also compare it with kompressors??

Lastly, does this particular model have BALANCE SHAFT problem you referred to??

WD appreciate your reply.
THANX!!!

- C240 ran up till 2005. Rebadged as the C280 in 2006.
- The 2005 C240 had a different infotainment system. Post the picture of the car's dashboard/instrument cluster.
- The C240 is a V6, while the C230 Kompressor is a supercharged i4. The C230K is more powerful than the C240.
- The C240 uses an M112 engine. Really reliable! The balance shaft issue is found on 2006/2007 models that use the M272 engine.

Thanx 4 the reply.
I WD get the pic of dashboard in few days time.
Tops, Wednesday.
Here. Its v6. I think this one has 6plugs. Not sure yet tho.

When you say i4 is more powerful than 240, I guess u are referring to speed/acceleration?

It's a pre-facelift, I think.

Yes, HP, acceleration, speed. That supercharger works wonders for torque.

Thanks; does this mean I have to preorder. I was chanced to see DuraMax Global ATF
Although its states that it supports MB 236.14 but I am scared for my transmission;
as it's not among the approved list for MB

Nice thing u have in ur head.
I think its called "brain".

To end this all, I would ragger for reliability/longevity over power(acceleration/torque).

So that's where the M122 c240 kills the kompressor.
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by luluspin(m): 5:43pm On Sep 02, 2018
Pls house I need your professional advice everyone I meet tells me 2005 c230 kompressor is a problematic car, that no mechanic around can competently repair a kompressor engine, and it's very costly to replace their parts.
Pls can owners and engineers in here contribute.
Thanks

Why is it always difficult to see a good Mercedes mechanic. The ones I have been thief's or near theifs who know nothing about their job, than were dirty cloths. It's would be good if the thread founders can leave names and addresses of competent Mercedes mechanics. Thanks.

Yes. Also, it's a V6, so a slightly smoother–albeit slower–ride.

That generation of C Classes were generally bad, and the M271 on the C230K isn't quite as reliable as the NA M112. Maintenance costs aren't anything out of the ordinary. The supercharger isn't particularly difficult to work on, and it's not something that spoils without prodding–or wear and tear.

Also compatible is DEXRON III/MERCON

You'd be looking at about N36,500 for 5 quarts and your car requires 10.25 quarts.

Why not the C280, if possible? NA V6 is always better than a charged i4.
