rolorolo: Don’t listen to that guy. Payment of school fees in no form or shape raises any suspicion. When did he sit down to start taking the statistics he purportedly is passing as facts? Truth be spoken, many have actually improved their chances of getting a visa by prepaying their one semester or one year’s tuition. Many people delayed by CIC for not demonstrating financial ability, go ahead and pay their fees as recipy for overcoming such objection. It almost always works in defeating a prior finding by the VO of a lack of financial ability to pay for one’s education in Canada. Paying one’s fees also works quite well if you are been sponsored by a third party. I personally don’t see the correlation between paying one’s fees and why it will raise suspicion in heart of a VO leading to the finding of lack of genuiness of one’s study. The correlation at best is tenuous. If someone is cited for not been a genuine student, it most likely has to do with study gaps and Issues of not proving strong ties that would compel one’s return to country of origin. The genuiness of one’s study is not questioned simply because one paid their fees. That said, if you have been refused, I will advice you refire. Request for a refund of your fees only when you feel you have done your very best and visa was not forthcoming. I pray it ends in praise. 13 Likes 2 Shares |

galala123:No you don't need return ticket. All the bank wants to see is your visa, offer letter and flight ticket 1 Like |

vivicintia:Yes tuition fee will be refunded if visa isn't granted, but contact the school to know their refund policy cos some schools might want you to pay the charges incurred (bank charges for each transaction). 1 Like |

Many thanks for this @ jnyuwa. I plan paying all the fees at once in my next application. Just wanted to be sure am not making a mistake by doing that. With respect to study gap, how can one respond to that. I obtained Bsc in 2006 (same flagged in my GCMS Note) but I have been working since then. My intended course is MBA. How do I go about responding on this? |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by jnyuwa02: 7:45am On Aug 30, 2018 |
rolorolo: Please is there a way of changing this moniker jnyuwa02 to something else? It seems a lot of people botch that name. You can address study gaps by showing what way you have remained academically active since leaving school, compelling the conclusion that you still have what it takes to succeed and really want to attend school if that privilege is extended to you. You can dwell on your upbringing with a love for learning and to cherish the values of learning and how that has not left you till today. You can present evidence of how you excelled in the past. You can show how your current job is related to what you want to study and the passion you have for your chosen field. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Fleshly: 8:44am On Aug 30, 2018 |
Trapping: I don't think that will hurt your application provided you specified the correct address of the VAC in Abuja. The truth is that not many people get the address of the embassies they are writing to correctly because of certain inconsistencies with VAC and the actual high commissions address. Still if you can get it changed that will be good. 2 Likes |

@Vivicintia, you mentioned earlier that the 5000CAD equivalent of 1.5m is non refundable; if it was clearly stated as non-refundable acceptance fee.............then it is what it is; however, the school would allow you defer the admission but not refund. except it is not stated as NON-REFUNDABLE on your admission letter.....in that instance you can get a refund.......................... vivicintia: |

vivicintia: Since visa was refused, I expect you to get all or most of your money back after deducting administrative fees and perhaps non refundable deposit if applicable. It must be very painful having waited for so long. I know the feeling. |

vivicintia:UBC and their admission policy is not favorable to students from Nigeria where study permit is not guarantee. I will advise you apply to another school, wish you success. |

rolorolo: Please which school did you apply for an MBA? Did they request for GMAT/GRE scores?? I am seeking an affordable school for an MBA programme that doesn't require GMAT/GRE. Most Universities that don't require the GMAT/GRE are quite expensive. |

vivicintia: If your visa application was successful based on the offer letter and you decide not to travel again, the school may argue that they kept a slot out of limited spaces for you which cannot be filled now because of inadequate time to process visa for next allottee. However, I believe you have a good case having been denied visa. It's no longer your fault. As someone suggested, look for the refund policy on their website. I am almost certain you will get a chunk of your money back. If they insist on not refunding, contact a lawyer and negotiate payment on amount recovered only if possible. And which Institution is that? I don't think any Institution will risk putting their reputation on the line because of refund issues as it will hunt them eventually because people will only deposit where refund is possible. Actually, I'm in similar position in one Country, Paid full fees and got visa but I don't think I can make it any longer. I plan to contact them next week. It was stated on my offer letter that no refund if Visa application is successful but they can refund on health grounds after being repatriated back to your home country and then the refund payable will be sent back to an account in your home country. In my case, I don't think I can make it to their Country anymore. In fact was planning to withdraw my visa application next week but it came through yesterday which is about 2 weeks earlier than expected. 1 Like |

vivicintia: Which school is that? Is it that you don't have WEAC, University Certificate, and cannot speak any language? What is so special about the school or makes you so unacceptable to other schools that they have to put such a huge premium to accept you or defer your admission when lots of schools are begging? Abi Na ivy league school? I hope it is not an agent in Nigeria that is shaving you oh! I wan vex sef. And it is not as if their offer letter makes one bounce proof by giving you immunity from being refused visa. Please check their rules deeply, they are always exceptions or just run away from them as fast as you can before they touch the 700k that they have started eying already. Is that how to console you? Lastly, did you fail to inform them that you may not make it before a communicated deadline? Like you are expected to inform a hotel days before your booking expires that you will not come rather than waiting for the date to pass and then appear very much like a no show in the aviation industry. |
