Apologies boss for the late response. We came under attack again as I was responding yesterday and I have boys manning positions.

The attacks has been consecutive and we're adapting really fast. There is a heavy casualty right now on multinational troops and we could hear the heavy gunshots from our position showing bokoharam came in with heavy equipments. Still no idea on what's happening there but a friend sent me a message saying they have enough casualty. They tried defending the base but they had little fire power to counter Bokoharam's attack.

We've been on high alert here. Our DJI drone has been taking surveillance for us so we have control of our environment for now.

Nigerian COAS; Gen G Olonisakin Yesterday met with the Chief of Defence Staff Republic of Niger, Lt Gen Ahmed Mohamed in Naimey. At the meeting, we came up with far reaching decisions and formidable strategies on how to flush out bandits and terrorists from our countries and region for good.

Nigeria army denies loosing men in the attack, at least in the numbers AFP/Aljeezera quoted. Nevertheless, wider media is running with the figure.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/sep/02/islamist-militants-kill-up-to-30-nigerian-soldiers-in-attack-on-base

30 soldiers lost is no small matter, guys. I`m struggling to recall if any of the nation's engaged in this world wide battle against terrorism have lost this amount of men in one sitting. How did we manage to loose 30, thirty men? Did bokoharam drop one of those Rusdian world-record sized bomb in the middle of our base? Even then,30 men casualty would raise brows I suspect.

...It's like...I don't know...It's like, what, how, I can't ...isnt this the type of casualty figures primordial spear-wielding native warriors in grass skirts suffered attacking modern gattling gun positions in the 18th century ?

Some people will nearly commit suicide if they loose £30. I`ve just counted up to thirty and it took surprisingly long.

Soldiers died, Jets were also scrambled. A MNJTF, reinforcement got hit by bokoharam but AFSF pushed then out with air support.

Our ISR released videos already. Several bokoharam were hit.

Below is the base defence.

With the swag cheesy I hope he told them men are dying here because of the incompetence on their side ? After looting big from Niger, we then turn to the victim here.

Mole is something common. I'm not here to die so I take precautions. I have men under my command and wherever we are even if the area is not under my jurisdiction or control, we maintain surveillance and take position. We scan the area with our drones to guarantee what's happening around us therefore giving us time to contact c2 for air support and if the air support isn't coming any time soon, we will analyze the situation by bokoharam fire power. Can we turn it around ?

Bokoharam has a strategy, child and foot soldiers advance towards military position to destabilize us while their gun trucks fire for behind. With no mortar and limited RPG, we can't hit the gun and artillery trucks easily as we are busy with foot soldiers advancing with full speed, shooting sporadically and not minding if they die. Their strategy has been effective so we need mortars and IFVs.

Won't it be advisable for the army to purchase large amounts of 60mm Antos mortar...... Very effective and portable..... Can be fired by just one soldier at a time.....

The UAVs will still be limited by LOS restrictions.
Around 300km.
And will have to based around prepared airfields and unless u keep them flying around the clock , the ETA to target location will be considerably large so as to negate any immediate advantage to troops under seige.

Unless u invest in high throughput data relay satellites at GEO orbits, MALE and HALE UAVs don't offer any significant advantage interms of on demand / time sensitive recce.

For Intel gathering and targetted strikes male and hale UAVs r worth the money.

but u will still be restricted to around 300km due to LOS limit unless u make use of relay UAVs or satellites.

Personal opinion only

Finally here in Zari after the weather elongate our journey. The media seems to have hyped the attack. I have counted 46 dead bokoharam today. Inspected the perimeter line and the line of defence was okay but Ammunitions with good range from bokoharam was penetrating the absolute defence lines. Military casualty is what I can't acertain now but my friends here said they have around 17 evacuated as no one was KIA except during the course of evacuation.

But why is the army/military authority not reporting these... Although we've experienced setbacks in recent times, that doesn't meant they shouldn't report casualties on the enemy side.

BHT understands the power of PR than our Army authorities. Godspeed & might soldier

Well they bought the helicopters for the carriers. Since the carriers were built to Russian specifications and Russia already created a carrier variant of the KA-50. it made sense to buy them
